I could have drove 45 minutes and been in Williamsburg! But I was still in Va Beach. From the General Booth Blvd/ VB proper it's roughly 30 minutes. Honestly those 30 minutes seemed an eternity. It's deep in Pungo closer to the NC border. A beautiful park tucked away, but when you enter the park it spreads out into a nicely manicured area that opens to water access to the North Landing River. There is plenty of shaded space and open space and benches through out. Sheltered picnic areas, concrete corn hole boards, volleyball courses, baseball fields, basketball courts and an 18 hole disc golf course. Plenty of clean bathrooms. Although, some of them were closed for winterization. The bathrooms attached to the rental office close to the boat ramp were open and clean and stocked with soap and toilet paper. It's a huge area on 100 acres so plenty of walking to be done. It's so nice and quiet and peaceful that I almost don't want to share this review. But it will probably stay that way unless you live in the Pungo area or close to it, with it being so far!! It is a one way only loop that circles the inner area of the park. They even have a nice large playground area for kids. In the middle is a little garden. Swimming isn't allowed, the water access is one of the legs of the intracoastal waterway. I remember coming here once, back in 2009 for an Easter picnic in which I was invited. With so many years having passed, it's nice to know it's remained beautiful, but obviously with a lot of additions to it. I remembered it being super lovely out here, but just extremely far. Which is why I think it's taken me so long to return. Honestly, it's so quiet and tranquil that you can be alone with your thoughts and just enjoy nature. I like that it's away from the hubbub and chaos. I just wish I didn't live so far from it.

What a really cool find a few weeks ago. A park in a place that I least expected it and right under…read moremy nose for years. This is a neighborhood park located in Broad Bay Estates off of Great Neck Rd. The proximity to one of my favorite parks in the area, Great Neck Park is incredible. It's probably only a half mile. As a matter of fact the neighborhood opens a gate on weekends that connect the park and Great Neck Rec Center. The equipment is pretty standard for Virginia Beach parks and is in great shape. It offers some slides and climbing area's. The age appropriate according to the sign is 5-12 yrs. I really cannot see child over 9 wanting to play on it really. There are also swings older children to toddler. No shade is offered around the play equipment, so bring the sun block during the day. The amount of real estate this park occupies for a neighborhood park is amazing. I would say at least three acres. Someone has put up a volleyball net and a soccer goal, I believe this is not park owned. It;s cool that they have two very small shelters, just enough for one picnic tables and a few grills. A drawback is no restroom facilities. Also at issue is parking, there is no formal lot, so I imagine street parking is permitted. If your wanting a play area to yourself you would probably find this one with much lower numbers than the adjacent Great Neck Park. The GN park however is superior and recommend over this one. The biggest benefit that I see over other parks is the amount of field space for all types of activities. I am a fan and my kids enjoyed themselves too.

Unusual for VB Parks Department to not be on top of. The location has high visibility off Great Neck Rd. It's North of Virginia Beach Blvd. parking is by a small gravel lot. Overflow nearby business across the street on off hours I suspect. The landscape is non existent, but not needed. The grass was freshly mowed and tall pines add shade and beauty. Unfortunately there was a lot of debris around the basketball court. I would consider the area to be safe. London Bridge Park is straight forward. It has a ball field and full court basketball court that's it No shelter, no restrooms and no playground. I saw at least one trash can at the entrance and it was within it boundaries. I have never witnessed a baseball game in progress when passing by. It has a great infield and fenced in back stop. The outfield is level and not fenced in. There are no lights for night play. It is open to the public and assume there is a schedule of games during the season. The full court basketball is not regulation length. It has a concrete floor that looks newer. The hoops and nets in great shape. No lights for after dark play. It appears the debris was recent, like probably last night with it being Friday. All of the trash was located within 25 feet of a can. Since I had the time I picked it all up. If your interested in baseball or basketball before sunset this is your place. 3.5 rounding down with no amenities and debris.

The park is in Bayside, around a mile East from Pembroke Meadows school on a dead end Pembroke Blvd. Pembroke Meadows Recreation Center is directly across the street. The park offers a beautiful water view with a canopy of beautiful tall pines for shade. There are around a half dozen picnic tables and a few charcoal grills. A drawback is no shelter, or restroom facilities. In the center is a small kids play area for 12&U which I find hard to believe a child over 9 would enjoy. It's in great shape and offers a curly slide and two small slides. There are also climbing elements. Also offered are swings for both toddlers and older children. Now from a nervous parents perspective. Also from a guy that lives at pools and preaches water safety. You MUST be extremely diligent when bringing small children to this park. Especially if they cannot swim and prone to gravitate to water. There is one large area that you can just walk right out in knee depth water and does get deeper. Come check this quaint city park out. Just don't tell the neighbors know I let cat out of the bag.

Additionally, two tennis courts that are marked for pickle ball are here. They're in pretty good condition and usually available. No shade at all tho so I recommend you bring water and a hat!

The cool thing about this city park it has tennis courts. Everything was nice and clean and has been kept up with. Not only do they have a park and tennis courts but they also have a dog park. So it is people and pet friendly. They have doggy bag dispensers so you can pick up after your pets. Love all the picnic areas, Very family friendly. This is residential with plenty of mature trees and a paved walking area along with a dirt path to bike, walk, great for runners, wheel chair friendly and great for strollers. Came here on a Sunday afternoon on a nice day in VA. It was about 15 minutes away from the hotel…read more My first impression was damn that's a huge flag! Then, I was like, where do I park? I ended up parking near the basketball courts. There were many people at the park but there was still lots of available parking around. I saw people playing basketball, soccer, kites, football, etc. I was surprised they had a horse shoe court that looked like they could have a tournament as there were so many lanes. I walked through the park at first, walked to the dog park, then the pond, then circled back to the forest playground, which was huge! If my kids were little they would have loved this place! They had a stage that could have a small outdoor concert. After checking out the kids' playground, I went for a full walk around the park and realized there were 9-11 memorials, military gold star family memorials, and other patriotic displays along with huge flag in the middle of the park. There were areas to have picnics, exercise areas, and lots of open space for pets and kids and any outdoor activities. There were two bathroom areas at opposite sides of the park. One near the kids playground and the other near the skate park. I did about 1.5 loops around the park before leaving. I didn't like that there were people smoking weed in their cars and the smell was pretty strong. But overall the park is nice and perfect for family outings and a day out in the sunshine.

Also, it's large enough to have big groups for a picnic or for a pick up game of softball. A kids' playground is present for the little ones to jump, play, and move about. Secluded and a few minutes walk from major tourist stops like restaurants, shops, and supermarkets, and despite the proximity to some roads, the place is quiet. It's a place you can just take a break and take in the environment and chill. There were very few people out there when we walked there this morning. A really nice thing is the overlook in which you can see where the water and coast meet. In the water, you can see jellyfish and small fish swimming in the water. There are indeed homeless folks here resting under the gazebos, but I only saw a few out there. My family and I felt safe there, and my family has walked in the park a dozen times in the mornings. Will definitely come back to bring a blanket and a book or when I want a break from the crowded beach.
