I live in the Clarks Summit/S.Ab. area and have two other markets closer to me, but because of the quality of the Wegman's organic items, the friendly nature of the employees, and the overall experience I get from Wegman's - I will continue to drive around the mountain fory my grocery order week after week. There are even times when I will run out of milk or eggs mid-week, and find myself stopping here for those items rather than shopping closer to home. In the several years my family has been shopping here, I have only had one incident where I was charged x2 for an expensive cut of Parmiggiano reggiano cheese but it was corrected during my next visit. The Wegman's brand organic items like the milk, eggs, and dairy creamer leave nothing to be desired. Not to mention their bakery! An absolute gem. Who needs a Whole Foods, anyways? Certainly not I. Ordered some groceries and prepared foods for delivery to a friend. I used their website and the ordering process was easy and offered back up selections should your choice(s) become unavailable. The person fulfilling the order sent me updates or clarifying questions about substitutions when applicable. Items that they did not have were refunded and delivery was fast. My friend enjoyed her food and groceries and really liked their chicken soup. Thanks for making life a little easier for those of us far away or wanting to help a friend. read more

This is the bastion of gourmet groceries in the greater Scranton area. There are specialty stores, sure, but there is nothing full-service on the scale of Wegman's. It's a lower-budget Whole Foods, but some departments (such as cheeses or bakery) are equivalent to or better than smaller Whole Foods stores. Full-service butcher and seafood department, huge bakery and prepared foods sections, it puts a lot of other stores to shame. There's always something new to discover here, which makes grocery shopping, dare I say, fun. read more

I shop at wegmans for a limited select items. I find that wegmans doesn't have the diversity of brand name items. I buy a few dairy items and other things that are competitively priced at other supermarkets. The one thing that annoys me the most is how employees at wegmans walk around looking at their phones and not paying attention to where they are going. read more

Horrible online ordering service. I decided to place my grocery order online and pick it up curbside. Multiple orders were "replaced" because they were out of stock. Guy with stubble beard who brought bags out didn't say two words to me with a bit of an attitude and stuff was thrown in the bag sloppily. You have the easiest job in the entire world, you literally pick things off of a shelf and bag them, don't take your attitude out on customers. I will never use this service again. This is my SECOND time with a horrible online ordering experience. I ordered online and found that some items were out of stock so they were "replaced". We got to the curb and the guy was on his phone (don't know his name, stubble beard, short hair) he was the same guy that gave us a problem last time, so with this attitude they clearly read reviews and tell the employees because he was nasty. The people who do this online curb service have the easiest job in the whole world, you pick stuff off of a shelf and put it in a bag, there is no reason to be this miserable when that is your job. I called the store, they said they'd tell the manager and get back to me. Never did. I am officially done with this place, whenever I have shopped inside the cashiers were very nice, just not the shoppers because I distracted them from standing there and talking to each other all day. Wegmans continues to meet the challenges of the rising cost of food with excellent selections of organic, family value packs and specials. I find Wegmans on the Scranton Highway the store for the best selection of organic fruit and vegetables. The store is great, and has great customer service, but I tried to do a pick up order and a delivery order. The pick up order said it'd be ready by 5-6 and I got there and at 6 o'clock they pushed the time back and said they don't have shoppers. The delivery I ordered at 8:00 in the morning, first they said 12:45, then it got bumped to 2:30, then 4:30, then 5:30, now it's 9 o'clock at night and still saying there coming. So now I won't have groceries for tomorrow bc they don't have people but won't say they right off the bat. I have a toddler, which makes it nice to have pickups or deliveries done, but I will be using a different store from now on. read more

First and last time here. Stopped by to grab some sodas and the level of customer service I received was probably the worst customer service experience I have had anywhere. The checkout guy was short and rude. I attempted to ask him questions and he turned away and ignored me. I asked again and was ignored again. I then blatantly asked him why he was so rude and disrespectful. He then decided to play dumb and say "what do you mean I am not being rude, I must not have heard you." Extremely condescending and disrespectful. Some other staff walked over and asked him what happened, after I started walking away and I heard him proceed to lie to the staff members. Don't really care what lie or excuse he tries to make to try and make himself feel better but that store will never get my business again. The one star is for the fact that the store is nicer than Walmart, but the staff at Walmart are far more professional. read more

Awful. From my wife today at the Dickson city Wegmans. To whom it may concern, I had the worst customer service experience I've ever had in a grocery store today at your store around 1:10 pm. I stood at the butcher's counter patiently waiting while an older associate assisted an older, white male with an order for steaks. I listened as he regaled the man and the entire staff in regard to how some lady whom he'd previously 'labored' for, had rejected the entire order telling him it was not what she had requested and how clearly it was what she had requested. I listened as he wished the man in front of me a Happy New Year and advised him that he would likely see him again as soon as this week . Your associate pointedly never made eye contact with me and I was standing beside the man he was so congenial toward, as a matter of fact all 4 of your associates who were working at the table cutting and wrapping meat never acknowledged my presence and neither did 3 other associates who were standing in the entry way to the butcher area, one female literally cut in to hand the older butcher associate a package of meat while I was trying to get his attention. The butcher completed the weighing and pricing of the other customer's meats and promptly turned away from me, took his gloves off, went in the back, came back out, continued to ignore me, took a package from the heavy set female associate who had walked up and continued his conversation with fellow associates rather than assisting or even acknowledging my presence. I spent over $200 in your store today and it's the last dime of my money you will see, because your entire staff was abysmal today. Your staff is unfriendly, unprofessional, they cut in front of you with produce and meat carts when you're clearly trying to reach a counter, one of them rolled a cart up to the middle of the check out aisles between check out the play area and proceeded to stand in the middle of traffic at this cart with a box cutter and CUT boxes in a high traffic area! I never thought I would want to write a review for a supermarket, but this is a pretty special one. Yea, it's a Wegman's so what? Well, not only does it have all of the amazing other goodies every other Wegman's has such as surprisingly drool worthy sushi, a huge, gluten free section, incredible to go and prepared food options and a lush garden section, it offers stunning mountain views and a killer craft beer section offering local brews such as Susquehanna Brewing Co! They have aisles of home decor items too! Oh, and kiddie care?! Seriously?! Where has this been on my life?!! I'm contemplating moving to NEPA just for the promise of kid free food shopping! (Just kidding...kinda). Not only is there a beautiful place to dine indoors that looks like a Tuscan restaurant complete with booth seating and floral arrangements, it has outdoor patio seating with mountain views! Say whaaaat?! If you're in the area, don't eat at a silly chain, come here, get some healthy takeout, even some brews and sit outside and enjoy the views! It's just lovely! They have live music on Friday nights from 6-8pm! I mean, c'mon! They also have movie nights too on selected Saturdays! Oh, and don't forget to pay for your beer where you found it! You cannot bring it to the food checkout lines! All employees under 21 cannot even touch your alcohol either! read more

What a difference a couple of days make. I went back today and got a cart full of groceries to help the PA family stock up for the weekend. A different checker and a totally different attitude. She tried to scan and iPhone app and then she entered the number. Neither worked because they have changed their numbering system in the 10 years since I moved from the Northeast. But, she was so polite and pleasant, it was exactly what I expected from a Wegmans employee until my earlier experience. If the manager reads this, I give kudos to Operator # 170396. Wegmans will forever be my favorite grocery store. This location in NEPA is close to my parent's house, so I have been shopping here my entire life. As with every Wegmans I have ever been to, the store is very clean and organized with the freshest food and produce, including a wide selection of organic choices and a gluten-free section. There is a buffet and eating area with tables where you can sit and eat or just grab some food and go. They have prepared meals as well as amazing sushi! Definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a quick bite to eat. Way better than any fast food! This location also sells beer and wine and has a wide selection of craft beers and wine from local breweries and wineries! There is even a kiddie care inside of this location where you can drop the kids off to play while you do the grocery shopping. I even remember my parents dropping me and my siblings here when I was a kid! Overall it is a no fail choice if you want a fantastic shopping experience. We stopped at Wegmans on the way to a school competition in Syracuse, from Long Island. Usually the bus drivers hot the fast food places....never again. Wegmans is a huge and beautiful supermarket, very clean and well kept. Their hot foods and sushi dinners are purely amazing. All I could think is if I lived here, you would never need to cook again. This Wegmans has one of the nicest sushi sections I've ever had. I had better sushi here than I've had at most sushi places. Anyway, this is one of their older markets but I still think it's really nice. You can tell they tried to develop it like the new ones and have updated it quite a bit. The parking lot is a little crazy and it's hectic, but it's a Wegmans. I think this Wegmans has a good selection, but not the best selection of prepared foods. Great store...The produce is top notch, though sometimes out of stock on basics. They have a ton of organics in that section, and they buy from local producers in the summer when they're in season. (Probably a dick in the a** to the same farmers that are at the farmer's market 3x/week selling at full margin, but still a nice convenience when you can't make two stops.) Beer selection is excellent, heavy on regional micros, macro micros and standard Belgians like Chimay. They have a ton of choice here. It you're not happy with the selection, you stink. Sushi is not up to par with a sit-down place, and it's pricy, but I know of no other place that has grab-n-go that matches their quality. I grab a roll here for lunch all the time, and one is waiting in the fridge when I'm done here. They have a huge selection of cheeses that's probably better than the Whole Foods that we visit in NYC. The butcher shop is excellent, and they have an assortment of organic meat and poultry for those of us that like that kind of stuff. In the same area, they have an entire gluten-free section for those who need it. (Hell, if you're a college kid that thinks it's cool, they have gluten free baguettes shrink wrapped in plastic. Have at it, hippie.) Pastry area is really nice, with all kinds of breads, cakes, bagels, danish and tarts. They really do a nice job here. We had a house-made wheat (or multi-grain) from here earlier this week and it was outstanding. Their bagels are really good. There's a Mediterranean bar with cured olives, peppers, etc. It's all been very good. Their house brands are dependable across the board and we go for them with no reservation. Their branded greek yogurt and dried pastas are particularly excellent. We do most of our shopping here. read more

This is the greatest supermarket I've ever been to. I didn't walk around the whole store, but I didn't have to either. While the organic/natural section in most supermarkets is restricted to an aisle or is interspersed with better-known, more commercially recognizable brands, Wegman's dedicates an entire section. And it's not just food. They have an incredible selection of toiletries and cleaning products, too. I'd be remiss not to mention (what for me is) their crowning jewel. Their beer selection floored me. I saw beers I've never even heard of, in addition to all of my obscure and not-so-obscure favorites. There is also a to-go hot food station that looked pretty good, but I didn't really sample it this time. Instead I opted for some pizza, which wasn't the worst. I can't overstate how much of a godsend this place is for me and my family. We've always wished there was a place to get the type of food we prefer when visiting family in the area. Having stumbled upon Wegman's has changed the circumstances of our visits for the better. No longer will we have to stuff groceries into our car for the two and a half hour ride. If you like Whole Foods, you'll love Wegman's. Comparable selection, but cheaper. read more

I had to travel to Scranton on business recently. Somehow I had known there was a Wegmans in Scranton. So what did I do? Upon leaving Syracuse, I programmed my GPS to go to my hotel.... via the Scranton Wegmans of course. This is actually an impressive Wegmans. Fairly large. The one thing I saw that I am jealous of, being from NY, is that this Wegmans actually has an entire wine section. Looked fairly sophisticated to. Almost like a giant wine vending machine. Pretty cool looking. I survived off the Wegmans prepared meals for the few days I was in Scranton. This proves to me that no matter where you go, Wegmans is consistently quality. I seldom think anything is worth 5 stars, but Wegman's is one of those rare places. This isn't just a supermarket, it's a Super market! I have had the privilege of shopping at this location 6 or 7 times in the last three years, during visits to my friend's vacation property near Scranton. I have had a truly wonderful shopping experience every single time. This great store has everything you want and more. Fresh produce, a great deli, a superb international foods section, a salad bar, hot buffet, and sandwich shoppe among the other regular departments found in your local grocer. One of my favorite highlights of this store is in summer when the meat department sells these delectable shish kabobs. Let me tell you, they are so good it's a shame Wegman's doesn't sell them year round. I wish we had Wegman's on Long Island or in New York City. They would blow everyone away with their price and selection. But that's not even their best feature. There best feature is service. Wegman's actually has friendly and personable employees. The customer service is exceptional. At least it is in the Dickson City location. I grew up in Florida and shopped most of my life at Publix. Publix has a similar good vibe like Wegman's. They always offered great service and a truly great shopping experience. But Wegman's takes that and goes even further with their incredible selection and sheer size of their store. Had I grown up shopping at Wegman's, I have no doubt I would never have shopped anywhere else. I've had many great shopping experiences, as I stated, but one in particular sticks out in my mind. I think it was the summer of 2008 when I was shopping at Wegman's and was looking for luncheon meats. I spoke with this really nice lady behind the counter named Linda. She was so friendly, so sincere and an absolute delight. She gave me several samples to taste. This helped me decide what I wanted to buy. This is a level of service I never received before in a grocery store. I ended up buying some delicious peppercorn chicken breast. Oh man it was so good. Linda really made my day that day with her kindness. I was so impressed I mailed a letter to Wegman's thanking them for having such a great employee. I'm not really a picky guy when it comes to shopping. Price and selection are important to me. Customer service is a lost art not practiced by many grocers and retailers. I think Wegman's is one of the few who get it right. They treat people like neighbors or friends. I like that. I just want to be treated like a human being and I treat people the same way. Wegman's goes above and beyond in that respect, in my opinion. For those who might want a career in grocery or retail, Wegman's is a really great place to work. They were ranked as one of Forbes's top places to work for many years in a row. They really get it right: great prices, great selection, clean well-lit stores(take note here Waldbaum's), and amazing service. I can't think of anyplace I would rather shop for groceries. As I said, I wish we had Wegman's where I lived. I would drive 20 miles to shop there, if I had to do so. The Next time you are travelling in the Scranton area, you should totally check Wegman's out. I hesitate to even use the term "grocery store" because it is so much more than that. Details ABOUND in this store: - large golf umbrellas on a rack in the foyer if you've forgotten yours - a babysitting area for when your kids are getting on your nerves - a full service coffee bar located directly next to the entrance - large reading area with magazines & books - friendly & efficient pharmacy - possibly the largest beer selection in the area - olive and Mediterranean bar - comprehensive cheese shop - organic department with bulk products - sometimes has very unique and rare produce, i.e. dragon fruit - an entire bulk candy department - "club pack" bulk-size products (meats, paper towels, produce, etc.) - new full-size floral department - international foods rivaled only by independent specialty grocers - best bakery in the area - seriously - PATISSERIE - the ability to buy meals in various stages: from scratch, ready to cook, pre-cooked or ready to eat Each department is loaded with everything from basics to exotics as well as a staff of friendly and knowledgeable employees. No other store comes close. Their mantra is "consistent low prices." You might be able to find something on sale elsewhere for less, but under normal circumstances, the prices are generally higher elsewhere - sometimes by a lot - and generally on par with Mal-Fart and Target. Wegmans is a privately owned company and I believe that gives them the needed level of control that has allowed them to be what they are - the best general-purpose grocery store I've ever visited. read more

Surely the finest place to get food in the Scranton area. It's kind of embaressing, I don't want to be such a pathetic fanboy, but I am. I'm trying to think of how to describe Wegman's for someone who's never been there. It's huge, clean, wonderful, and practically perfect in every possible way. You wouldn't think it possible that a grocery store has the best bakery in the area, but it's not even close. Wegman's bakery is phenomenal. Bagguettes. Rustic loaves. French bread. Croussants. Kaiser rolls. You get the idea, everything is great. The only thing that comes close to their produce section is the Farmer's Market, the meat section is great--even their prepared foods are super. Don't skip the Deli or their Sub shop! I think they make the best subs in town, which is embarassing to every sub shop in the area, but there it is. You find a really wonderful variety in the groceries, they even have a proper Ethnic section with more than just Asian sauces and Goya products, it includes Kosher, Indian, and Middle Eastern. I could go on, but you get the idea. If you're traveling through the area and have never been to a Wegman's (They are a chain, I've been to about 6 of them. All wonderful) stop by. If you are a local and you aren't swinging through every once in a while you are missing out. read more

This is a good spot to shop for sure. Watch out for all the robot hipsters running for the kale and gluten FREE* anything. The produce section is very stressful and noisy. No argument about it, if you are looking for quality food, wegman's is the place to go in the northeast corner of the state. If you are looking for competitively priced food, this is not the place to go. I've noticed most of their food are costlier than any other grocery stores in the area. May be that's why it has lost some of its frizzle. Not too long ago, the store used to be very busy with long lines at all the registers. Not so anymore. Probably the best variety of food in the area and they stock plenty of organic foods that you simply will not find at any other store. They offer child care which is the main reason I will shop there if I am on solo dad duty for the day (shopping with kids is a complete nightmare). I am subtracting two stars because their prices are pretty steep. I understand the organic line being a bit higher but some other items are way overpriced when compared to other stores in the area. Wegmans is already a Wonderland, but the staff here is the absolute best staff of any wegmans! They always go above and beyond. Today I needed a specific item (wegmans garlic and herb cheese spread, YUM!) & without any fuss or issue, Trisha, the woman helping me went out of her way to stop what she was doing, and check the back for me. Love doing my weekly shopping here!! I leave my daughter at the playroom with a wonderful babysitter and spend quality shopping time with my spouse. If you like organic, this is your place! we eat only organic (since my wife is allergic to many preserves) and the staff is one of a kinds! They will do whatever they can so you should have the product that you need... The coffee is not the best, but i'm sure some people like it. 1 thing I would wish they would change, the babysitting time is an hour and a half, which is kinda too short for such a big store...
