We were there in April, and found the campground to be very quiet and peaceful all 5 days we were there. Over the weekend, even with the campground filling up, it was still peaceful. The spots are well distanced from each other. It was a bit cold for swimming, but we did walk to the edge and try fishing. My only complaint is the online booking - there is a lack of photos of each site, and it's really hard to tell what the access to the water looks like. Some of the spots have an easier access to get into the water than others, especially for small children. We used campsitephotos.com to get an idea of what the sites looked like.

It was confrontational and ugly, as the ladies were hammered. After the cops came at 3am and they (finally) passed out in a drunken stupor, I was able to squeeze in two hours of rest. The park ranger in the morning was awesome. Manager asked the campers to leave without much fanfare (but to the delight of the other campsites...). Facilities are simple but maintained. Great lake access and friendly vibe all-around. From what the park ranger shared, it's rare for any troubles at this camp. By 10pm it's quiet and peaceful. It's truly a gem of a park!

We just got back - stayed for 4 nights in a primitive site…read more CON (ONLY RELATED TO THE PRIMITIVE SITES): - The primitive sites are in an area that is called "The Point". There is signage and so forth directing people to "The Point", although that area is only supposed to be accessed by people camping IN those sites. People were fascinated with finding "the point" but the real "point" of the area is an ACTUAL campsite. I cannot tell you the number of people that walked/rode up and down that area to explore, that were not staying there. It was really unnerving. There needs to be better signage at each campsite to let people know they can't just ride into the sites (which happened to us multiple times each day). Maybe signs that say: SITE OCCUPIED/NO LAKE ACCESS/TRAIL CLOSED UNLESS CAMPING IN SITES H1-H6? Primitive isn't primitive when you're always having visitors. PROS - the fishing was great! - the bathrooms that had showers were as clean as you could expect - staff at the shop were nice (and honest) :) - nice public area to walk around parts of the lake RANDOM THINGS TO NOTE: - primitive sites do not have electricity and you have to hike your things in (which was good for us, but might not be your cup of tea) - there is a shop with bait about 5-10 minutes away :) - all sites are lakefront - the geese don't care what time it is/when you want them to be quiet. :) OVERALL The star lost is because people kept rolling into/through our site to find "the point". This was our second visit - we will be back for sure. :)

Admittedly, it was pretty noisy at night but as much is to be expected on a weekend.. and noise travels so easily over the water. My friend and I enjoyed bird watching, cooking over an open flame, hammocking, and resonating with the outdoors. The campsite restrooms were surprisingly well kept and even had showers. I was able to bring my dog and she, too, enjoyed herself. Offered is: primitive camping, tent sites, and RV sites. We were late reserving so we ended up reserving an RV site for our tent but it was very spacious! It had a running water pipe, electrical box, and heated fire pit. Absolutely divine. We will be back soon!

Dear Friends, I'm a…read morelover of staycations for many reasons. The most important is a change of scenery and a place close to home is necessary to review and renew. Let's face it, life can be super busy and having a moment to press pause, reflect, and rejuvenate is key. I spent three days an two nights at this site and it fantastic. The room is so well decorated and filled with the amenities of home. It trucks the brain and you forget that you're literally sleeping in a large tent. The tent is equipped with a real bed with all the things we love including a very comfortable mattresses. The tent also has chairs, a refrigerator, coffee maker, and an a/c and heating unit. My favorite part of the site is the restrooms and shower building. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it is kept. While I was there, I was greeted by the Timberline staff several times cleaning the restrooms. Group Suggestions: I'd suggest booking a few of the tents and having a nice family reunion. I'd also bring bikes and fishing equipment. There is a dock next to the site and I'm sure it's a great place to fish. Since my stay, they now have someone who offers golf cart rentals. That would be great to use to go play disc golf or go to one of the beaches there. Solo Suggestions: This is a solo travelers dream because they offer a place to renew. We were able to find a nook to keep our distance from people but some people were just inconsiderate and frankly dumb. There was a fowl smell near the swimming area, I don't know what it was exactly. The water is a bit murky. They do have grills to access. You can rent campsites here. They have restrooms. The ice cream truck came through. They have a boat ramp, fishing spots, a frisbee golf course, hiking and horse riding trails and just a lot to do.

One thing you'll love about this campground is EVERYTHING! They have a putt putt course, pioneer home to view, marina close by, pioneer camping, cabins (new Cabins as well), premium camping with electricity, onsite store, boat ramps, picnic areas, group camping, shelters, trails and beautiful lakeside views. They also have old school bathrooms and newer family bathrooms. Other amenities include a playground and baseball court. They used to have swing sets near the bathrooms and a rickety wooden merry-go-round but I'm guessing those met their demise in the 90s. I do hate that there are no photos of those items, as i have found childhood memories of swinging on the swings and being thrown off the merry go round. The camping here is popular, and it's obvious why. They have everything you need and enough space away from the next camp site. We come more for the nostalgia, and I love reminiscing over my childhood. I do recommend that you hit the gas station across the bridge (leaving left out of the park) for wood ... you get more wood for your buck. At least that's what my girlfriend says. If you want a supreme camping experience, this is it!
