One small suggestion I would have preferred high level updates of where we are during root canal. However Dr Slykhous did a good job explaining afterwards and even showed me the updated x-ray which was nice. They place a temporary sealant which doesn't feel secure but seemed to be standard and they said can last up to 3 weeks. I'm satisfied with the work however the pricing is on the expensive side even with insurance so the value doesn't match the cost. Also they charge for an evaluation. Hopefully I won't need their services again as the cost would likely prevent me from returning.

My dentist referred me here after they weren't able to find any nerve issues, gum issues, cracked teeth, root canals, etc. After some X-rays and tests (the same tests my dentist did) were done, they couldn't find anything as well. With the amount of pain I was in, I asked if they had any recommendations for pain management as cycling Tylenol and ibuprofen was doing nothing. The joke of a person who calls himself a professional, Hamberlin, told me "I could recommend a psychiatrist". I paid this place to have one of their professionals basically tell me it was all in my head. 5 weeks later, pain is still there, and now my tooth is loose. I was able to get a same day appointment. His staff was very warm and welcoming. The office is immaculate and has the most state-of-the-art, high-tech equipment. Dr. Woods was so generous with his time and made me feel like I was his only patient. He explained everything in detail, showed me all the x-rays and imaging results, and walked me thru the process with kindness and sensitivity. He paid tremendous attention to my comfort during the procedure, sought my input on what music to play, and talked me through each step. He even called me the day after the procedure (on Saturday!) to make sure I was doing well. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. He is knowledgeable and professional and always takes time to check in, even during routine cleanings. I usually don't wait more than 5 minutes for my appointments. There have been times where I needed immediate dental care and they are able to work with you to fit you in as quickly as possible. I have recommended him to many people throughout the last 8 years! At a previous dental office in Miami I had a terrible experience that started with a routine cleaning that turned into a root canal 6 hours later and left me with significant anxiety with all things dental related. I found out a few years later after moving to Arizona that the root canal was not performed correctly and I had to get it re-done. Dr. Ngo is incredible at calming nerves and making you feel safe when in uncomfortable situations, especially with anxiety. He talks through every step in advance and during the procedures, so that there are no surprises. He takes extra time when numbing the mouth so that the pain is tolerable and at times barely noticeable. I really appreciate this and feel like it's rare to find. I highly recommend Dr. Ngo and S&L Dental for all your dental needs.
