Received a bill from Impression Dental (5970 S Cooper, Suite 1, Chandler AZ) for an oral evaluation for my son from December 2025. During that visit, the dentist told us our son needed around 13 cavities filled. Something felt off, so we got second opinions from two different dentists using the same X-rays, and both confirmed there was no basis for that diagnosis. We immediately informed Impression Dental's front office that we would not be moving forward with treatment, and they told us at the time there would be no cost for the visit. Fast forward to July 2026, and I get a bill out of nowhere. I called to ask about it, and the receptionist told me the "insurance cost" was $113, but if I paid cash, it would only be $39. When I asked why the price is nearly three times higher just because I have insurance, there was no real explanation -- just that "you have insurance, so you pay the insurance cost." This makes no sense and feels like a bait-and-switch. Being penalized for having insurance, combined with a bill for a visit we were explicitly told was free, is unacceptable. I would not recommend this office and would encourage others to get a second opinion before agreeing to any recommended treatment here. read more

This practice and Baker are so awful that it brought me out of Yelp retirement. This guy is the most penny centered man. He would do anything for a buck! He spreads false information in the tightest scrubs he can fit his short body into. This guy claims that I need to get my fillings redone which is fine except they didn't even last the amount of time that they were supposed to. Many other people that I know that go to him deal with the same issues because "Doctor" Baker just wants funds for his awful scrubs. He also gave my daughter advice that she needed orthodontic work after getting her braces off two weeks prior of her appointment. Let me console the actual Orthodontist that said it was okay to take the braces off. I'd also like to add that I paid cash and they billed my old insurance anyway. Terrible Dentist that I went to for many years and wasted money. Had to replace $10k worth of dental crowns due to poor margins, leaking and falling off within 6 years. Not to mention the cavities where the fillings lasted 6-9 months. Dr Baker is focused on high pressure sales to generate revenue, not the best interests of his patients. He pretty much said I needed more than 4 crowns, he noted and diagnosed decay (cavities) on several of my teeth, and even suggested getting rid of 3 of my veneers and replace them with crowns. Please know that I grew up in Mexico, and all dentistry there is resolved with fillings. Since coming to this country at the age of 19 my teeth have been perfect. I have not had one single cavity and have been labeled by two dentists as the perfect patient. I was truly concerned after leaving this visit and decided to get a second, and third opinion. Both dentists agreed that I was cavity (decay-free). One of my fillings was broken as it came out, but the underlay of my tooth was cavity-free and in perfect condition. I decided to go back to my dentist of 13 years and he corrected one single resin composite from that missing filling finding NO CAVITIES. Every treatment plan recommended by Dr. Baker is a scam and not a true diagnosis of what you need. Feel free to contact me for further information. This will go all the way to the board of dentistry until I get this scammer to lose his license to practice. My teeth were polished from any caffeine stain that was existing in any prior resin and confirmed to be perfectly sealed and not in need of the quoted over $11000 scam insurance fraud Dr. Baker was trying to commit. Impressions Dental located at Riggs and Cooper set up dates where players, including those with braces, could come in and get fitted for mouthpieces. This service was done free of charge for the school kids. Nice gesture for the surrounding school community. Their office is very clean and styling as are the bathrooms. Please do your research and be careful if you use this practice for ortho. They use Reveal Aligners and after 36 weeks of wearing trays, my bite is completely messed up. They told me at the beginning I might have to do a few tweeks, but my issue is far worse than maybe than that. I am having headaches because everything is aligned wrong and my back teeth only touch on one side. They said they can fix it but I am skeptical. I have asked for a refund but no one has returned my call. read more

I'll start by saying the staff at impressions dental has always been so nice and pleasant to be around, which makes this negative review difficult to write. But is also the reason for the 2 star review. But I have wasted far too much time and money in the last 2 years to move on without sharing my experience. After having my daughter I had a handful of cavities pop up that needed to be taken care of. As a SAHM, I had to bring my daughter with mw to each appointment that I had within her first year of life which I'm sure as amplified all of these issues. I had each the cavities filled and had issues for months afterwards with pain and discomfort. I came back in several times to have refinements done and nothing seemed to help. So it was suggested to have a crown put on one of my teeth. And what a mess that caused. The in office crown that they made was an absolutely joke of an excuse for a tooth. The thing fit in my mouth like a brick and caused so much pain. After having it "fixed" 3 separate times, I decided to seek dental care else where and pay an additional $2k to have the work in my mouth corrected. And I get it, it's common for refinement or two to need to be made. But I truly believe if this office wasn't so overbooked and busy, and the staff was about to spend more than 5-10 min on your teeth without bouncing around to a new patient, perhaps there wouldn't have been so many issues. In addition to the pain and issues with my teeth directly, I've also showed up to the office on several accounts where no one knew what I was coming in for and no one was prepared for my treatment. I've waited 30-45 minutes in a chair for them to figure it out behind the scenes, had to reschedule the same thing I already had on the calendar numerous times, and have had to continually remind the staff what they're doing to me and why I am here. I've wasted so much time and money over the past 2 years and spent more time in a dental chair than I ever hope to again. It's disappointing to say the least. Having 2 crowns replaced at Impressions Dental was the worst dental experience ever. They didn't tell me the work would be done by a fill in dentist, not Dr. Baker. Unfortunately, she was not up to the job of removing the crowns that were supposedly bad & making & installing 2 new crowns in one sitting. It took 4 hours & I was upside down the entire time. She couldn't remove one & used a hammer which injured my neck. I wound up with heart palpitations & they called an EMT. I had to have physical therapy for a month to recover. I told them I would never return & they've been harassing me to return. Dr. Baker never called me to apologize for the horrendous experience. This is a crown mill, avoid at your peril! read more

My family has gone to Impressions Dental for 15 years. We had no complaints or issues. My wife is missing a couple of molars in the back that had been removed due to some tumors prior to Impressions Dental. She had previously been informed that she should replace them or her teeth would shift. We looked into it and it was going to cost $10,000. We do not have an extra 10k laying around and have six children to support so this would have to wait. Upon her last visit Dr.Baker informed my wife that she should tighten up our budget or get a second job in order to have the work done. I am a long haul truck driver so my wife is basically a single mom during the week. So his suggestion was to be gone from the home more in order to make more money to give it to Impressions Dental. My poor wife was humiliated by him and did not want to return. We are currently seeking another dentist who does not appear to be so money hungry so that his wife can stay at home to raise all of his children. read more

The stated out of pocket costs for myself and what would be charged to insurance did not match up with the charges on the final bill. The staff at impressions dental have always been so nice and pleasant to be around, which makes this a difficult review to write. I was informed that a crown was needed and that I would need to pay nearly $480 out of pocket. Not only did the clinic always seem in a hectic disarray, neither the doctor nor his staff were available to actually help me out when the temporary crown popped off. The lousy pre-crown treatment and lack of a response regarding my predicament already soured me to this practice. What happens nearly a month after my crown has been installed? I receive another bill in the mail for another $440, with the claim that they couldn't have possibly known that my insurance wouldn't cover this amount. Talk about sticker shock.. I would not trust them to take care of my dental concerns and certainly would not trust them to not price gouge me for good measure. read more

I am beyond grateful to have found a dentist that actually cares about your dental issues and finding you the most immediate help as soon as possible. Recently, I have had more dental work than anybody would want to know about, being in constant pain, the staff bent over backwards to make sure I had as much relief as they could possibly have until I was able to be scheduled with a specialist. When I first started going to this office- I absolutely loved it. They would get me in right away when I was in pain and helped me fix it. Over the years- I felt like the business changed. It no longer felt like caring for the patient but how much they could sell. Unfortunately my last experience was awful and I was crying in someone's office. I have had a cap that has fallen off my tooth 4-5 times. I was told the reason it's happening is because I grind my teeth and I need a mouth guard. I wanted to know what signs they saw that I grind my teeth and they couldn't tell me other than my cap keeps falling off. I don't think I grind my teeth so that is why I asked and the mouth guard was pretty expensive. It was a horrible experience and I was crying at the end of it. I had my 1st appointment with Dr Baker's office yesterday and honestly, the majority of his negative reviews sums up my impression of him and my experience (high pressure, lots of recommendations but not certain if needed). He has more negative reviews than positive ones. Negative reviews remain consistent on their messages and Doctor can't seem to turn these negative impressions around. As the saying goes, "people's impression of him is their reality"...those reality seem to be widespread experiences of the majority w/c leads me to believe that there may be some truth to all their reviews. As for me, I am gladly walking away from his practice eventhough his work on me is not complete. I am afraid that I will fall in his prey and be victimized just like the rest. I do not know where to begin. I had an accidental fall down the stairs 1 yr ago. I have been in and out of dental treatment for a year after having my jaw wired shut for 5 weeks, multiple dental extractions, undergoing dental implants and orthodontic work to realign teeth damaged during the fall. This was my 15th dentist, plastic surgeon, orthodontist, oral surgeon I have seen since Oct 5th, 2022. I requested a consultation over a tooth that may need a filling due to the fall, while having 5 teeth under reconstructive procedures due to extensive damage from fall that are currently missing. Dr. Baker went immediately to a crown on a tooth that was not of major concern, and did not even acknowledge the status of the current missing teeth. He spent 2 min visiting with me. Then I was asked if I wanted to proceed that day with a filling, although that was against his recommendation. Of course I wasn't! After waiting to further speak regarding treatment plan, I was told I was not a good fit for Dr. Baker and he would not treat me. THANK GOODNESS!!! I've requested my son's x-rays be sent to another dentist and they have and continue to ignore the request. This is how unprofessional, vindictive and jealous the office staff is--otherwise why would they care. Keep in mind, I am the one that got them PRE-PAYMENT from my son's dad and I repeated told them I would pay my half at the office at the time of service. They demanded prepayment only because I had my son's dad give his credit card to the office - the women here are complete control freaks and no one should patron a place that treats them horribly. Don't get me wrong this office is very friendly and courteous BUT nice and courteous doesn't change the fact that in the long run their only goal is to siphon as much money out of you and your insurance. I was given a list longer than a CVS receipt on what needed to be done. I really like this office! I have sleep apnea. Some may know it is a pain to sleep with the special mask and especially difficult to travel with the breathing machine. It is very bulky. Impressions told me about a retainer type device that they can make which is designed to help with sleep apnea. I was interested! I just recently received the device and it works very well. They were able to really fine tune the fit, it has made sleeping sooo much easier. Not having to wear the mask that connects to the breathing machine is very nice. Also, I'm looking forward to making my travel simpler and less bulky. :) I had a couple cavities to fill and they took care of them quick and I was on my way. This is a USED CAR dealership in White Coats. I was told I would get a cleaning, x-rays and exam for introductory price of $99.00. Upon showing up for my appointment several x-rays and an exam was done (not by the Dr) The Closer (Sales person) said i needed a DEEP CLEANING and a few other unheard of treatments. I informed them I was suppose to get the cleaning, X-Ray and consultation for $99.00 They said they could not do it and the DEEP CLEANING required some Special treatment - Define "Deep Cleaning" how or why is that different than a regular cleaning. They tried to sign me up for regular treatments every 4 months or so. Unless you have a DDS degree they tell you you need this and that procedure and of course it will cost more $$ Who understands what is seen in x-rays etc unless your a radiologist or Dr. They try to sell you on everything. Just like buying a car and they tell you you need this special paint finish protectant, this type of undercarriage protection or that type of extended warranty Don't do it. I saved myself $1,500 by walking out of there on the spot - Needless to say the cleaning was never performed Deep Cleaning or not !! Stay away they are crooks. read more

I honestly feel like this place is a sales operation. I came here for a check up and cleaning. I somehow ended up in the back talking a lady about the cost of veneers! They told me I had 8 cavities which was very surprising to me...and after reading other reviews I'm starting to wonder if I didn't actually have that many cavities. My last cleaning had only been a year prior. The doctor who did my numbing was really nice but half my tongue was numb for 6 months following the procedure. He was kind enough to answer my calls and speak to me about this, but I have to say I lost trust after that happened. Tonight, approximately 6 months after my filling, my cavity fell out! My husband had a deep cleaning from Nansy at Impressions Dental in Chandler, AZ. He would rather do anything than go to the dentist. (What. A. Baby!). However, Nansy was very careful to tend to his concerns. She took all the appropriate measures to make sure he was comfortable. She checked in regularly during his deep cleaning to make sure he was doing ok and free of pain. We really appreciate her professionalism and patience. In October 2018, we were told by Dr. Baker that our son needed a gingivectomy to allow a late erupting tooth to come in. We were told the day of the procedure that we would need to pay for treatment as they had determined that our dental insurance did not cover that procedure. We went ahead and paid the $364 so our son could receive the recommended treatment. Once we got home, we called our Delta Dental of California insurance provider and were told that a gingivectomy is covered by insurance. We told Impressions Dental that we had called our Dental insurance company and that they had told us that the procedure was indeed covered. When we asked the billing manager why she didn't simply call our insurance provider to ask if they would cover the procedure, she said that since 95% of dental insurance providers don't cover a gingivectomy she didn't feel it was necessary to take the time to call them or to make a claim. It is the responsibility of the billing manager to contact the Dental insurance companies. We have insurance through Intel as do many other residents of the East Valley and not some unusual and rare insurance. The billing manager did not do her job. We asked Impressions Dental to make a claim for the procedure. Impressions Dental did not communicate any information about the status of the claim to us. In April 2019, 6 months after we paid the original $364, Dr. Baker told us our son needed another gingivectomy to make more room for the growing tooth. The billing manager gave us a treatment plan page that stated that we would need to pay the $364 in advance again for treatment. We declined the treatment. We followed up with Delta Dental, who told us that they had already sent a $274 insurance payment for the first procedure ($364 less a deductible) to Dr. Baker's office and that the check was cashed 5 months earlier on December 14th. We were never notified that they had received payment from the insurance company. The fact that we had a credit balance was not mentioned at all when we received the second treatment quote. I spoke with Cat in Impressions Dental billing who did confirm that they had received both payment from us as well as payment from insurance. Dr. Baker's office was paid twice for the same work, by our dental insurance company and by our family, yet his office kept the money from both parties and did not bother to tell us the results of their claim. The only reason we received our money back is because we followed up with the insurance company and they told us they had paid Impressions for work we had also paid on. We have been patients of Impressions Dental for about 10 years. We deserve to be treated better. Trust is such an important element in a dentist/client relationship that we feel that our family of 7 should find a different dentist. Unfortunately, we do not feel that we can trust Impressions Dental to deal with us fairly and honestly. read more

Oh man... I was typing up a whole novel about this place! Basic highlights: *Inexperienced staff *Office is always busy, which means they fall behind and will rush you through regardless of if you are done or not *High pressure sales from the finance department. High. Pressure. *Did not ever send out records to new dentist *Took several attempts to adjust bite with crown; never finished; had to switch to another practice *Installed crown wrong/poorly *Front desk staff is super friendly (seriously... the front staff and the dental hygienist are the only real 'pro' on this list) *Technicians are not friendly; probably too hurried to waste time on niceties *Don't let the bald guy near your mouth if you want a workable bite A bit of detail: I had a root canal and fillings done on the right side of my mouth. Several failed attempts to fix my bite with the temp crown. The perm crown was put on wrong (shouldn't be cemented on before bite is set), over filed, and I was sent home KNOWING my bite wasn't fixed. But they got busy and didn't want to spend anymore time on me so I had to call and go back later. Seriously, I was SENT HOME pleading with them that it wasn't fixed. The root canal was done November 2020... it was March 2021 and another dentist before my mouth felt somewhat normal again. I spent months scraping my tongue on a crown with a very sharp edge and flat surface before getting another dentist to fix it. As of June, that side of my mouth is still very uncomfortable and my teeth now feel too big for my tongue to fit properly. Also saw two endodontists in the meantime as I was trying to deal with several nerve pain and sensitivity on the right side. A friend went to them for cleaning, fillings, and tmj support. She ended up with a large bruise on her cheek FROM FILLINGS work, and one cavity was done without anesthetic. Hmmmm maybe the 45 minute wait in the lobby during a pandemic has something to do with the rush job and carelessness?? Hope she writes her own review.
