I'm not sure if this is the same library as charter 28366 since that one has a sloped rood and this one has a peaked roof. Both have hand-drawn paintings, but they look different. As such, I'm thinking they are different. The library is blue with a yellow roof. A single door secured with an eye hook. Inside, a single shelf with a few books. Foreverglades is an art exhibit on a steamboat in Howard Park across from the Kravis Center for the…read morePerforming Arts. The tiny pond at the north end of the park the boat is floating on was once the Stub Canal and Turning Basin. It was large enough for barges that carried passengers and produce from Belle Glade, a farming community south of Lake Okeechobee that was settled in 1925 and which provided food for the area. Later on the main crop became sugar and large corporations like Domino Sugar and Florida Crystals changed the land and stopped the flow of water to the Everglades. Boat service from Belle Glade started on May 17,1918 when 5,000 crates of vegetables were transferred to 10 railway freight cars. After a railroad line and highway opened in the 1920's, boat travel to fell out of favor and the 1928 Hurricane destroyed the boat docks. Now all that is left of the large waterway is what looks like a small retention pond with a fountain. Foreverglades is funded by the Knight Foundation, the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs, and the West Palm Beach Arts & Entertainment District. Photographer Sofia Valiente lived in Belle Glade for five years and her pictures focus mainly on the African-Americans who live and work in Belle Glade. Many of them work on the farms and in the fields despite poverty and the region being hit by floods, drought, and hurricanes. She wanted to show how Belle Glade influenced the growth of this region of Florida. The pictures hang on the walls of a 41 foot replica of a 1920's steamboat that was built in Miami, hauled by truck to West Palm Beach, and placed into the lake by a crane. Sofia chose to show her work in a boat to highlight the link between Belle Glade and the town it helped to grow, West Palm Beach. This exhibit runs until February 2020 and is free. You can access the boat from a walking path that runs around the pond. Photographer Sofia Valiente staffs the exhibit so you can speak to her when you visit. Belle Glade is an area that has been ignored by the rest of the state but it was a place I wanted to know more about. This exhibit made me want to visit and explore it myself. I love the history this exhibit highlights and how it shines a light on an area and people that doesn't attract a lot of attention despite their agricultural contributions to the community.

The teachers were amazing and we will definitely miss them. My daughter got to learn Spanish and…read morethat was wonderful. However, I did not like the person who runs the place. They expected us to know and understand all the rules, but did not take the time to explain them well enough in English, as I myself don't speak Spanish as a first language and neither is English. We followed all the rules we understood. Don't get me wrong it was all in writing upon enrolling but instead of explaining it was more of reprimanding after the fact. On her last day there, she was 30 minutes late with a note from her dentist and they wouldn't let her in, as it was one of the rules. Ok, I get that, but they wouldn't even allow her to say goodbye to her teachers while grabbing her things. To leave on those terms was devastating to my daughter and myself. I don't recommend this place.

It was as simple as a feeling I got and I'm glad I trusted my intuition on this. Fast forward 4 years, and I can solidly say it was a great decision for my family. The environment not only provides a safe place for my children to learn, but there is so much love given to them. It's not easy being a working parent, but it makes it easier when your missing your kid the most to know that he/she is with teachers who generously give their hearts to the little people they have chosen to spend their days with. The staff is kind and professional, yet down to earth and understands our needs/wants as parents. All of the being said, what really makes this place amazing is the families. Our children have made life long friends and so have we. Through religious and non-religious based socialization, a solid community has been formed that is so welcoming to everyone. There are events all the time that allow the kids and adults to spend quality time together and have fun. Beware: if you think you'll just pick up and drop off your kid(s) everyday and be on your way, you're wrong. There's a good chance you'll end up standing in the parking lot and having a conversation with another parent/friend at least once a week. Another warning: your child will definitely make you late to where ever you are going next because they insist on using the sidewalk curb as a balance beam. Every. Single. Day.

It has two floors. Many businesses and a church inside. On the second floor they had classes and offices. The place was well kept and very clean. It's a good size building. I did notice that some stores were empty. The place has a nice feel. It has its own parking lot nearby for convenience. I walked inside the Paramount Theater. It is something more for the older generation. As you first walk in, everywhere you turn you see stars from back in the day. The walls are covered with pictures, dolls, and artifacts of them. It is pretty impressive the large collection this theater holds. Each celebrity with a little description. My type of place. I really enjoyed what I saw and was glad I came.
