Inside are two shelves. Most of the books are hardcovers lying on their side but the paperbacks were easy to spot. Some fiction, some thriller, a copy of the great Charlotte's Web and some mystery novels. Great options. This is charter number 80598. While the steward's name is not on the Little Free Library database map, it does have this caption, "Our LFL is inspired by our family's love of reading! From the library, there is a view of the beach and the grassy areas and it's a great spot to literally pick up your beach reading. I'm not sure if this is the same library as charter 28366 since that one has a sloped rood and this one has a peaked roof. Both have hand-drawn paintings, but they look different. As such, I'm thinking they are different. The library is blue with a yellow roof. A single door secured with an eye hook. Inside, a single shelf with a few books. These aren't "borrow" books like they are at the regular library - these are FREE. Perfect for beach reading! The library box is located at the south end of the boardwalk of Oceanfront Park. The box is white and beige and has a single door. Mostly soft covers and some thin books today. A wide variety including the one that based the movie The Help and a Dean Koontz. The City of Sunrise is the first city in South Florida to install Little Free Libraries in its…read moremunicipality. This one was installed back in February 2013 as part of a service learning project by students in the Sunrise Leadership Academy. The Little Free Library movement started in Wisconsin in 2009. By installing little bookshelves in communities, the "librarians" hope to promote literacy and the love of reading, as well as a sense of neighborhood, by building free book exchanges worldwide. The concept is "Take a Book, Leave a Book." You are welcome to drop off your gently used books, and to help yourself to anything that catches your fancy. It's a library with no late fee! This one, built right by the playground in the park, is in a great location. I can imagine parents and children checking out the books, after an energetic hour in the playground. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of usage though. Most of the time I pass by the library (repurposed from a newspaper stand) is rather empty. Hopefully more people will discover and use this little gem!
