I contacted Yoga Roots to ask for a partial refund or some other negotiated solution to this problem, and I included a letter from my doctor. It was also under the recommendation by my physical therapist that I avoid yoga. I needed to contact them a few times to get a response. They finally suggested that I wait until I was recovered and they could extend my pass. However, when I contacted them a while later about this, they--once again--did not respond. One would think that since I had been going to the studio for 7-8 years, that they would be more interested in resolving this issue, but it became obvious they were not. If you are considering them as your yoga studio, you may want to ask them what their policy is for unforeseen accidents and medical issues. You may also want to reflect on the ethics of a business you choose to support. Yoga Roots has some wonderful teachers, but because of my recent experience, I could never recommend them.

Coming off a long illness and series of abdominal surgeries, I have been anxious about getting back into exercise and yoga seemed to me like a nice, gentle way to get back into shape. So, my experience at Yoga Roots has so far spanned their selection of more gentle class offerings: - Slow Flow: The most vigorous of the classes I tried, this seems like it covers most of the bases of a regular vinyasa class, just slowed down somewhat in pace. - Basics: Slightly less rigorous than the Slow Flow, a good way to get acquainted with the poses and how the classes run. - Yin: My favorite so far; this class focuses on releasing deep tissue and ligaments - which is exactly what I need. I'd go to this class every day if it were offered! - Restorative: The most gentle of all; poses are lying down and utilize gravity to achieve a deep, slow stretch. Because I am so out of shape, I was relieved to find this studio to have a welcoming and non-judgmental vibe across all four of those classes and with all of the instructors I have so far encountered. In every class there is a deliberate emphasis on working at your own pace and doing what feels best for your body. With that attitude, I look forward to using Yoga Roots as a resource as I make my own progress back to wellness.

I wanted to unwind so booked the Soft Aerial Yoga class with Samantha Sycz. It was indeed soft. Very slow. Like just hanging out in a hammock. So when I was face down in the hammock, I had to take off my BRAND-new glasses--first pair in three years, bought in California. Welp, Sam full-on stepped on them. I heard the crunch. WTF. One arm was at a 45-degree angle. I tried to keep my zen and continue. Could not. Sam told me to go to the front desk. Halle gave me that saccharine-sweet runaround that drives me NUTS, insisting on my phone number and refusing to take any responsibility, saying I would hear the next day. "But pleeeease text me when you get home safely." Um, okay, not necessary. Let's deal with the glasses. I then got an incredibly long gaslighting email about how it was my fault and they would take no responsibility. Said Sam haaad to come over to correct my hands in an inversion so really it was necessary for her to crunch my glasses. Thing is, that isn't even when it happened. The inversion happened after, and it was the point at which I left. I was doing virtually nothing when it actually happened. (That's kinda the class btw.) That all was bad enough. To add insult to injury, I came in on a rainy Saturday morning because I'd already booked the body sculpt class. They checked me in. But as I went to enter the class, Halle came at me all saccharine again. She told me to LEAVE. She had my phone number because of her incredible concern for me (eyes rolling back in my head) yet did not text me to tell this. ClassPass showed I was registered, yet in another longwinded email sent a few hours earlier that Saturday morning (because everyone checks their email and junk mail before a Saturday morning workout lol) they said they had taken me out of class. They didn't, obviously. So I wasted my Saturday morning and lost my ClassPass credits and they lied some more. They had me drive down in the rain to take their lame ass class after breaking my brand-new glasses for nothing. It's all on me!! Not very zen of them, but we know how karma works. I wish the photo of my smashed new glasses would upload. Use your imagination.

The instructors are great and very high energy and motivational. The music is great and it's fun - something that I wouldn't normally use to describe working out. The studio is nice, with great equipment and fun lighting effects to make you feel like each class is a party. Even if you're a novice or feel like you're not in good enough shape, you should give it a try. I'm certainly a work in progress in the fitness department and never once have I felt judged or excluded. There's a great camaraderie amongst the SolSprinters. I love this place!

They are usually pretty packed on Mondays and Fridays as she has a strong and loyal following. I moved to the area a year ago and signed up with her. I took her classes and was hooked. I literally craft my life schedule so I can attend as often as possible. I have spinal and lower back problems. She is a very experienced and highly qualified personal trainer. Her instruction made me stronger (cardio endurance and muscle strength), leaner and bikini ready! Also significantly improved (decreased) my back pain as I now have (visible) abs and much stronger core and balance. I am in my early 50s. I've gotten so many compliments on my physique, even told I pass for my 30s. A lot of older women in class, but don't let that fool you-these ladies blew me away with their endurance. Over time, you realize you are getting stronger and realize the improvements. Highly recommend. Oh they also offer yoga at 6:15 on Thursday evenings. Erin the yoga teacher is an experienced professional. Nikki teaches Sunday morning at 9a, and is also a very experienced fitness trainer and yoga instructor. Great classes to get invigorated and a solid stretch which is great for muscle recovery. Both are great for stress relief as well ‍
