I've been a member of planet fitness since about December which was three months from this review. There are two levels of membership at planet fitness. White card and black card. Black card means you can use the tanning and massage chairs and massage beds in the facility and also go to other planet fitness gyms, the white card mean yo are stuck at the home club. And you also don't get to use the tanning or massage facilities. I come from the YMCA and I'm used to having rusted weights torn padded benches and general disrepair. However when this facility opened it was less than half the cost of the YMCA and everything was brand new how could I say no. Some of the downs for someone like me who enjoys benching with free weights you're not going to do that here. However they do have dumbbells up to 75 lb and curling bars up to 60 lbs. I wish they had heavier weights but I guess I'll get less bulk and more reps. what I do like if they have cable machines which I really haven't used up until now and I'm finding I'm really enjoy using the cable machines and I'm getting a workout unlike anything I've ever had before. They also have the Nautilus style machines that generally are clogged with people sitting on them and goofing around on their phones. That's no easy way to get a burn for sure. there are classes that they offer but unfortunately they are of no interest to me in the only classes I've seen tend to lend themselves to people who are brand-new at working out. I'll encourage anybody who comes to the gym and work out and they should be instructed and how to do it right and not hurt themselves so I applaud them for having these classes. The restrooms are cleaned about every 4 minutes LOL plenty of lockers and about 93 TVs. I have tried to the massage chairs and the massage beds they're more like the ones you would find in the mall and I don't think they really do anything for me to kind of gimmicky. Well my darling dermatologist is at odds with me tanning, I have a vacation in 30 days I would like to get something that resembles a little bit of a base so I've been using the tanning beds which are brand new and 6 minutes is about all I can take. Overall the front desk people are nice the place is clean and everything is working we'll see how long they keep it up but for now 5 stars

I love everything about The Sweat Box (TSB). It's truly a great place to get in shape. The motto…read moreis "Come as you are" and TSB really lives up to it. They have great instructors who can and do show adaptations to moves in every class and to the whole class, so no one feels called out or embarrassed. TSB also has a wide variety of classes that would probably work for anyone. They've changed my attitude about fitness! I thought I didn't like working out but it seems that I didn't like individual workouts (like running or lifting weights).

She gave us a full tour of their multiple rooms and levels, fitted my daughter for shoes and harness and gave a brief demonstration of how to use the auto belay. We had the place to ourselves when arriving shortly after opening until around 2pm when the crowds started to arrive. My daughter had a blast! As a parent I appreciated that they have a parking lot, but wished they had seating in the main climbing area so I could sit and watch my kid.

Words cannot even describe what a mess this place is…read more Granted, I never made it inside. I purchased a Groupon deal which allotted me 10 classes at Contours. It specifically said to make sure you schedule online and NOT call the location. I diligently followed directions and promptly showed up during my time slot. I tried to open the door, it was locked. I noticed some older women inside, so I knocked. They cautiously approached the door, and opened it just a crack to talk to me. Mind you, this was the middle of winter, it was snowing pretty heavily, and here I am - all 120 lbs soaking wet, wearing work out gear. Pretty intimidating, right? "Can I help you?" "Yes, I'm here to work out." "You'll have to talk to the manager." And she began shutting the door! "When will this manager be back?" "I don't know, sometime today." And SLAMMED the door. Since the building is made of windows, I saw her walk back to her group of friends and talk and point in my direction. I tried calling later that day, no answer. I then emailed the owner with my complaints. SIX days later, I wrote again, informing her I would be complaining to the BBB and other online outlets such as Yelp if I didn't get a response. She immediately responded. "Laura, I am catching up on emails. I am sorry for the confusion but I do feel you as well did not take the proper action to join us as well. In lieu of all this reporting and carrying on I am glad you will not be joining us. Here at Contours Express we have a great, kind and helpful group of women who enjoy coming here. I don't think with your hostile temper we could even accept you. We do not want you joining our gym." So, apparently I frightened the women at the door with my request to be let in from the cold, and I'm just to angry to work out at Contours. Thank God I got my money back for that wasted Groupon. I visited Anytime Fitness gym on Clifton Ave. for my free week trial in November 2021…read more I was only able to attend once in the evening during my 7-day trial period due to the limited hours that visitors can attend. I ideally would have preferred to exercise in the morning before work so before 8am because I work during the day and I normally get off after 6pm. But, this gym only opened at 11am for visitors (guests) and closed at 8pm. HOURS -- While gym members can enter the gym anytime because it is open 24 hours a day, those who are using a free week pass can only enter the gym while it is staffed. So, a staff member has to be present (at the front desk) for visitors to enter. The staffed hours are 11am to 8pm during the week and I don't recall what they are on weekends. EQUIPMENT -- This medium sized gym has plenty of machines to choose from such as ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes. There are also free weights (dumbbells) and changing rooms for males and females. This gym does not offer group exercise classes. COST -- There are different membership levels but the average member pays $35/month for the month-to-month plan. I found this to be the average cost for most gyms but with other gyms offering more services, this price at Anytime Fitness isn't the best. For example, Browns Fit gym in downtown Cleveland offers free fitness classes for members, free parking for members and visitors, free massage chairs, a bigger gym with a lot of equipment, etc. Overall, this is an average gym in the Lakewood neighbourhood but personally, I won't join. Note: the parking lot is really small so it is best to arrive at the gym during less busy hours such as early in the morning.
