We chose our shingles and scheduled an appointment to get the roof replaced that day. The crew arrived at exactly the scheduled time and went straight to work. One thing I noticed after they were on the roof was just how quiet they were. I never heard yelling or loud music; just scraping and nail guns. Several of my neighbors have had roofs replaced in the past year and those crews were generally loud. These guys were fantastic. Jeremy was on site all day making sure everyone had what they needed and he was available to answer any questions we had. Jeremy even came back the next week to do a follow-up inspection. In April of 2026 (one year later), I noticed water on the floor the night of a storm, then hours later, part of my ceiling fell in. Upon investigation, I found that there was a leak coming from the upper-level roof of my house where the work had been done and traveling all the way to the bottom floor of my home. The leak was found to be caused by a gutter that was filled with roofing material and debris such as dust from old shingles, pieces of shingle, tape, nails, and roof tacks. It was impossible to see the debris as it was clogged inside the gutter with the top of the clog located about 6 inches from the top of the gutter. McCulley claims that they are not responsible because cleaning gutters is routine maintenance, but there was no way for me to know the gutter was clogged due to the conditions under which it was clogged. Despite clear evidence that the gutter was not clogged with natural materials that would allow for water flow and break down over time, McCulley roofing has maintained that they will not take responsibility for this damage. The fact remains that if I had not hired them to replace my roof, I would not be in this situation. I have included a number of photos and details about the experience that should paint a clear picture of what happened. I asked that McCulley Roofing to repair the damage at no cost to me, and they refused. Detailed info: Once I shared the news of the leak, McCulley came to help clean up, they made a plan to help mitigate the water damage and investigate the leak's origin. During the cleanup process, their workers tried to tell me that what was clogging the gutter was debris from trees. My house doesn't have trees over it. There are some trees nearby, but they are not close enough to be filling the gutter to the extent that it was clogged in a year. Even if that was feasible, it is very clear this debris is not particulate from trees. I have a bucket of the debris at my house that proves that. Jaron Darnell, one of the leaders of McCulley Roofing claims that it is soil, I have included photos that clearly show otherwise. During the cleanup, I had an errand to run. I was very explicit that I would return quickly. In the time that I left the house, the workers cleaned out my gutter and took the bucket of debris that they cleaned out with them. I had to ask probably five times to get the bucket returned to me often never receiving a response from my request and just having to ask again the next day. After bringing McCulley Roofing's attention to the fact that the debris seemed to be roofing material, every employee of McCulley Roofing that I spoke with told me in various ways that this was not their fault. They claimed that the debris in the gutter came from trees or was soil, they claimed that the roof was too steep to properly clean, and they claimed that I was at fault for not cleaning the gutter. Finally, they claimed that my gutter design is faulty. I lived in this house for a year and a half before McCulley Roofing did their work (one year ago), and I never had any issues with my gutter clogging. You'll see in the screenshotted text from McCulley that they admit there was no damage visible at the time of their work. Also, after working on my roof, no one from McCulley roofing told me that my gutter design was faulty. Despite that I never threatened legal action, Jaron Darnell told me that I would have no legal recourse if I chose to pursue that route. What McCulley Roofing did offer was to repair the damage under a claim from my insurance if I paid the deductible which is $3,500. During the cleanup work, Chris McCulley suddenly asked me to sign a work authorization that agreed I would pay the deductible of the insurance claim they wanted me to file. I wasn't warned that I would be asked to sign anything. Chris was acting as if he was in a hurry the entire time he was at my house, and he brought me the document open and ready to sign without offering me time to read it. I did read it and signed it only because I was able to cancel it within 3 days of signing which I, luckily, did. Also, I informed McCulley Roofing that my insurance was going to drop me if I made another claim with them. I'm not sure if you can message on Yelp, but feel free to reach out if you can and have any questions at all. I'm more than happy to share anything as I'm certain that any homeowner would agree that they would also be pissed off and expecting some kind of remedy from this company if they were in my shoes. I expect McCulley Roofing to respond, and I want to clarify that the water had to rot away exterior wood before coming into my home. This takes time, and I do believe that it could take a year for this to occur. I had my house painted and wood replaced in 2024 (prior to the roof) as well, so it had to do a lot of damage before coming into the house at all.

He promised to get me fixed later that day and he did. The person he dispatched went into my attic and found where the hole was. He went to my roof and patched it with metal sheeting. I had some extra roof tiles and he installed them and removed a lot of tree debris from my roof. It rained hard that night and not a drip got in to the house.
