All the swimming instructors are great at what they do and are very professional, patient, and fun with the students. But as far as calling in, most times, is challenging and even more so since the aquatic center went to a new phone system that's "automated". Pressing Zero does not work and no way to speak to an actual person unless you know the last name and if you just choose a letter then it goes to voicemail. So trying to contact is very difficult. Overall Nicole has her staff on point and very easy to deal with once you get a hold of them. It's just the phone system need attention. Our family values the life lessons of swimming that evergreen has to offer and would always recommend this facility for lessons, open swim, and swim parties.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean much when the staff is late every single day (and usually rolls up with coffee). The pool is pretty clean, the facility is usually pretty dirty. The pool manager Nicole is great, but the staff being late every single day sucks, especially for people on a time limit. Wish Seattle would open another pool early so we wouldn't have to wait for staff that can't figure out how to set an alarm. Learn to wake tf up Quinyh!

My kids like it because it has a 3 foot deep shallow end so even when the kids are very small, they can stand with their head above the water. And there are diving boards in the deep end which is something you can't find at all of the pools. The lifeguards and swim instructors are all relatively friendly, and they don't have a million rules, so it's a fun place for free swim. However, the majority of the lifeguards are very young. I personally don't have a ton of faith in a 17-year-old being able to keep my child safe in a pool, so I watch them every second myself. The reason for two stars is the lessons. This is our primary reason for going to the pool, and the lessons are awful. They divide the children up by age, and then divide that age group into three skill levels. If your child's skill level is outside the predicted skill level for their age group, they will never be taught where they're at. All of my children have been swimming independently by age 3-4, but there is no opportunity for independent swimming in this age group at Southwest Community Center pool. The kids are expected to stay in the shallow end, touching the wall, and they will be learning the very basics. Once the kids turn six, they are allowed to move up into a higher age range of kids who are 6 to 12, but if you have a younger children, they will take one look at them and put them in the lowest level, even if they swim better than the oldest kid in the pool. If by some chance, your six-year-old gets put into a group with 10 to 12-year-olds, they will be expected to understand instructions that are given at a 10 to 12-year-old level. There is no consideration for the differences in communication or maturity level of a six-year-old vs an older child. We have given this pool years of opportunities to improve the structure of their lessons and they have only gotten worse and worse. My personal recent experience is that I have a six-year-old who can easily pass a swim test and swim in the 12' deep end. She will spend an hour and a half before her lesson swimming in the deep end, jumping in, treading water, diving to the bottom, doing the backstroke, swimming freestyle... but as soon as free swim ends, and her lesson begins, she is put in a group of little kids who are practicing blowing bubbles and are kept on an extremely short leash with no opportunity for actual swimming. All I get from them is "Sorry, this is how we do things." They don't care. So if your child is a very early swimmer, or a very typical swimmer for their age, you might get something out of this pool for a year. But once your child starts making progress, they will be held back. The last big strike against them is management. Like I said before, the lifeguards and the instructors are all pretty young, but friendly. However, there's always one or two people in charge who have an absolutely horrible attitude. For some reason, they seem to attract managers who are on a big power trip. There was an older woman who worked there for the last decade who was an absolute terror, and when she left, they just replaced her with a male version who is no better. I don't understand it, but nothing will ever change if they have management who doesn't care and won't listen. Their priority does not seem to be teaching kids to swim. It appears to be filling up the classes with bodies as quickly as possible, and then stringing them along for years to make as much money as possible.

Keith the manager is great and helping all over always teaching or fixing things. The swim instructors themselves are skilled and very patient with our cautious toddler. We appreciate all that they do. The pool itself is clean and nicely remodeled. The only downside is the viewing area is small downstairs and upstairs can get quite hot. Parking is out in front and can sometimes get full, but there is plenty of neighborhood parking.

We came on a rainy Saturday afternoon…read more - The price is okayyy, it was 7.50pp for a drop-in adult swimming recreation swimming. - The parking kinda sucks, there were ~8? spots, and they're located on the opposite side of the entrance near the high school. Not sure if there was another lot somewhere, but they were full when we went. - The pool is pretty large, and I liked that the younger kids had their own shallow end of the pool to swim in, which was separate from the deep end. Even the deep end was split into a more play-ish area and a more serious-swimming area. - I got to try a rope swing for the first time! I feel like a REAL American now :D - The rope swing did mean that the serious swimming lane area was cut off... (but getting try a rope swing was worth it hahaha). - The locker room had plenty of lockers and enough showers and changing stalls for the mass number of people who were there at the end of the open swim period. I'd prefer single stall showers, but these were alright. - It'd be nice if there was a machine to dry my swimsuit :'( Maybe it's a safety thing because of the number of children? This is close enough that I'll likely be back (to help someone else fulfill their new year's resolution!).

But as of today 10/16/2024, me and other regular swimmers all agreed that the shower area has NOT been cleaned in many months! The shower floor and curtains are disgusting with visible stains and Soap Scum. We are all tax payers and part our properties taxes are supporting the public schools. WHY is a facility within Lindbergh High School left uncleaned for months ?

If you do NOT live near Hazen, best to call 1st to double check if they are in fact open according to their schedule. Because they closed once in July WITHOUT notice. I did not see any negative thing last summer. But so far this summer, TWO breaks-in have happened two weeks in a row since 07/29/2025, in the parking lot of Hazen, in the middle of the day. I'm only rating the experience with lessons. Since I'm not a member and didn't use the facility personally I don't think it would be fair to judge them on anything else. The instructors were young but patient. They made my kids comfortable and were encouraging. My kids had such great confidence which they never had before. They staff were friendly and everyone seemed professional for a very young staff. The facility was appreared clean. I wish I found them sooner.
