You need to seriously think about why here has only one star. And the only reason it even has one star is because it's not possible to give zero. They are far from professional. You might trust this place by looking at its website and exterior or interior. I did too. There's a clear discrepancy between the website's image and the actual experience. During the treatment, while the patient was lying down, it was highly inappropriate for the assistant and the dentist to keep chatting, mixing in Spanish, and laughing, as they were not fully focused on their work. I shouldn't have received the treatment. I get thorough teeth cleanings twice a year, and six months ago, no cavities were found. But the owner suddenly changed, and without taking any X-rays, he suddenly discovered cavities. If you've ever been treated by a professional dentist, you would immediately notice how unprofessional this dentist's treatment approach is. They need to show a more professional attitude. And even the California DMV employees are probably friendlier than the receptionists here. read more

I had an appt with major work that was going to cost me over $1100 and they had me waiting in the treatment room for 45 minutes. I told them I was nervous when I got there. But I still sat back there for 45 minutes listening to someone else get drilled. Never even got a numbing shot. When the dentist finally came in and I said my appt was 45 mins over and I might need 2 appts instead. She said "fine" and walked away. So I left. An hour of my life wasted and I have to start over. Save your time, money and anxiety and go someplace that cares about their patients. read more

After going there for 4 years....the primary dentist introduces herself each time as if I've never been there (she has done 2 crowns on me). High staff turnover - I've seen 5 different hygienists in 4 years and the latest one is too rough with scraping. Even though my chart says "no ultrasonic device" ---she has now paid no attention and tried to use it on me twice. I'm done with the carelessness and the practice. read more

If you are a patient that hasn't visited in awhile be aware of Dr. Halsey's retirement, they will not tell you this until you have already committed. If you are a new patient their website does not even acknowledge this and the present Dr. is not even listed so you do not even have a chance to see their qualifications. The new staff is incredibly unprofessional to say the least. I am sure Dr. Halsey would be very upset to see what is happening to her practice. Avoid this place!!! read more

Very unprofessional. My kids went for a new patient appointment, both was there for over 2 hours. Did not get their teeth cleaned. I was informed by the receptionist that, the Dentist and hygienist was very busy and couldn't see them for their cleaning. Dr Halsey was rude when she did finally come to introduce herself. The office wanted to have them come back the next day for the cleaning. Absolutely not. read more

The doctors may or may not be good, but I couldn't get past the bad scheduling practices so I'll never know. I called asking for a cleaning but was told as a new patient I had to come in for a 1.5 hour checkup first. I told them it had only been 18 months since my last dental visit with my former doctor, but they insisted so I said fine but only if the visit included a cleaning. When I arrived for the appointment and verified that the visit would include a cleaning I was told there wasn't time unless the next patient after me cancelled. Since I had never even been told why I had to spend 1.5 hours there, what was being checked, etc., I left the office without seeing anyone. It was all very polite but ultimately useless. read more

Called Friday, 11/17/23 to confirm appointment for Monday, 11/20/23. Asked if I was only to have a cleaning and they said "Yes!" Got there and found out the dental hygienist I had made the appointment for, was no longer there- not a problem. At the end of the cleaning the new doctor came in (my dentist, Dr. Halsey, had retired- was informed when work was in progress) and looked over the work that had been done. I thought she had come by to introduce herself and check out things, since she was now in charge. Went to pay and told that the dental insurance they offer was $299. Said I did not need it because I only had had a cleaning. They then informed me that though the cleaning was $109 I had to pay another $60 for the dentist to check things out. Told them I had already spoken to them about this and that I had only wanted a cleaning. They refused to charge me only the $109. The older blond-haired woman laughed at me. She said state law requires that a dentist must check over a hygienist's work- what state is she talking about- the state of money-grubbing mendaciousness? If this were so, why was I never informed of it? Meanwhile I looked it up and the law says, Current laws require that the dentist be present IN THE OFFICE whenever anyone sees patients. I do not believe it is legal to perform services that cost money and you do not first tell the patient. I believe that Lakeshore's practices are illegal, unethical, lack integrity, are disrespectful, and very nasty. In NY we call people like these shysters! Anyone who goes here for their dental work gets what they deserve. They should be ashamed of themselves. I believe that all they want to do is inflate what they do and not care about whether or not it is needed. On the way out, after protesting what they had done, they said I was rude- "Better to be rude than a liar," I answered. Note that they did not itemize the bill and that I did not sign the credit card transaction. If anyone knows Dr. Halsey could they please inform her of what is happening at her former office. I was given their affordable dental discount plan initially in Dec 2022 when I first came to this dental practice. I had my prior xrays sent over to them as they were recent. They tried to charge me for new xrays because they said they could not read the xrays that were sent over to them. I also paid $299 discount plan that I was told still owed for another cleaning. I spoke with the manager, Lexi and asked her to review my billing as I was obviously misinformed by the lady that explained my affordable discount plan was incorrect because the $299 was suppose to cover all of the work that was performed over my 2 visits. Lexi did write off the additional amount that I was told I still owed, this was only after I explained their accounting and communication regarding their dental discount plan was very misleading! Since then I go in for cleanings and a few fillings, but can't get a print out of the itemized work done and pricing. Again I went in for a cleaning and can't get a print out of their pricing, only a credit card receipt. Their printer does not work at any visit either. My dental hygenist was on leave, and the doctors are never the same as Dr Halsey recently retired. I had to demand I get an itemized list of their treatments and prices, she provided it on a sticky note. What they provide is that affordable dental discount plan !! Beware is you are only going in for a cleaning and or filling. read more

Finding a reliable and honest doctor these days is difficult. The majority of the dental work is not done by the dentist. I was lied to numerous times about the work that needed to be done. I got totally duped with unnecessary work and the work done was subpar. The office manager is condescending and rude when you question what is being billed and for an explanation of the charges. read more

I used to go when Dr Halsey was still in practice. I moved and recently decided to go back here. BIG mistake. Dr, Halsey was caring and made me feel like a valued patient. They fit me in right away which I thought was great! My appointment was for 8, but I saw the doctor at 8:25. After an evaluation on a tooth that has been giving me pain for months, the dentist determined that I must have had tooth trauma or an exposed nerve. I reacted severely to the "cold" test. So we agreed that I probably need a root canal. As is the practice with dentist offices that want to see as many patients as humanly possible, the receptionist came into the office to determine how much I would have to pay and surprise, they had time right then and there to do it! Honestly, that was odd. Anyway I said I need to go to work and that I would think about it. I went up to the front desk and I asked when I could come back, surprise! the next day. Ok... great! I did explain I am anxious patient, and that if I am in pain I want pain medicine. I am not afraid to ask for it and I don't care what anyone says, root canals hurt. I have had a ton of dental work and I have dental anxiety. I was told yes, of course, no problem. I leave the office and realize that I am now in much worse pain then when I went. After a few hours and realizing OTC medicine was not working, I call the office to ask if there's anything else I could take until tomorrow. SURPRISE! Nope. That is not their policy. Why not, I ask? She explains well since I am having the root canal tomorrow OTC should work. I said how can you determine my pain level if I am telling you that I am in pain. Obviously I am in pain, right? I came to the dentist before work, I need a root canal, I reacted to the cold test. I said what about an antibiotic? Nope they don't need to do that since I am having the procedure tomorrow. OH but don't worry they can prescribe me the prescription strength OTC meds I had already been taking. So the whole conversation I had at the front desk? Yeah that was a lie. But see this isn't the worst part of this story..... I decide in that very moment I will not go back to this dentist. I had already seen an endodontist who I was familiar with and always treated me well, and I would just go see them for a second opinion but also I knew I would be treated better. I call new endo, they are kind and caring and say don't worry we call dentist for referral. Of course I don't need a referral, but it is so they have the information. A few moments later my phone rings! Well it's the front desk of Lakeshore (I assume to apolgize for lying) but TO MY SUPRISE it is to ask me if I am coming for my appointment tomorrow. I said well no. I am in pain, you didn't help. Her response was ok, we had an endodontist call for a referral and I don't think the doctor will give it to her WHAT!!!!!!! I said don't worry, we don't need a referral but cute. She then said IT IS A 100 DOLLAR CANCELATION POLICY HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I said good luck and then I said actually I never confirmed the appointment so you will never get that from EVER. I hope Dr Halsey sees these reviews, but if she doesn't it is ok, I still have her cell number... I will try that. I will also report them to the ADA for refusing to give a referral when the patient gave permission to release my records. read more
