You're going to need to know where you can splurge , what to add on your classroom wishlist and have a game plan. If you don't, you'll definitely spend more than you'd like! This store has high-quality, unique gifts for kids. I picked up a doctor's kit that is like NOTHING else in other stores. This is no Doc McStuffin's doctor's kit. This is a legitimate kit! My kids love this store. Some things are not worth buying here, like dinosaur figurines (Amazon has better ones for 1/3 the price), but other toys are interesting and would be hard to find elsewhere, even if it's a little pricey here. Most of the toys are own-brand; you won't find any Disney stuff here. There are always displays of toys out that kids can play with while you're there, which is wonderful because the worst part of being at a toy store with kids is that they normally can't play with anything. I have definitely bought copies of some of the "samples" that were out, so I can see why they do it! There are also Saturday mid-day craft events, although we never seem to make it to one and I've heard they're quite busy. read more

Lakeshore Learning is an educational store that seems to specialize in educational supplies and equipment that leans toward preschool and elementary level education. This is not to say that parents cannot find educational games and such for their children; in fact, this place has items that serve as a nice alternative to your average video game. So if you wish to find something for your classroom or an educational game, this is an excellent stop. I really wish another central location secondary franchise would be available soon. This homeschooling and teacher school supply store; provides access for parents, teachers, and educated cohorts to educational materials of subjects ranging from science to emotional development and cognitive enrichment. The sales associates are teachers are affluent to answering relevant questions, for first new parent like myself. I would choose to give five full pledge stars however, the commute to access and pricing is what makes me not visit the franchise as often. The overall composition and business online and on-site deserves the four star review. What can I say at lakeshore... My wife is a teacher and she mandates that we go to lakeshore at least twice a year. She gets stars in her eyes just walking down the aisles. She's like a fat kid in a candy store! I suppose that if you have a need for this stuff, it could probably become addictive. They have all sorts of stuff for bulletin boards... Calendars and whatnot. My wife really likes the laminating option. She isn't really satisfied with the stuff that her school does for her. She's a bit anal about her stuff and likes to be able to do it herself. I gave it 4 stars because the stuff is expensive!! I feel like because they have a corner on the market, they inflate their prices. You know... Cuz teachers make so much money!! read more

My grandson just got the Real Bamboo Blocks and loves them. He is 5 and was visiting from Savannah. I turned him loose in the store, and let him choose. I LOVE Lakeshore and have used their products religiously for years for my daughter/classroom. I recommend the brand itself to any and every parent/teacher. My problem is this location is just weirdly staffed and filled with bad customer service I was not used to at other Lakeshore stores. After finding the products I came for, I got in line. There were two young men working the counter and they literally had a conversation about not wanting to ring me up and asked each other if the other one would do it. Mind you, there was none else in line.. they just did not want to do it! Finally one of the guys says he'll take me and I was like "thanks...". Before he rings me up I said "hey are you guys still doing that "spend 20$ get a free teacher planner" deal?". He told me yes and even commented on how it looked like I definitely spent 20 dollars worth and that it shouldn't be a problem. After he rang me up (my total came to 40$) he asked if I had a member card, so I gave him my key chain so he could scan my loyalty card. As he starts bagging I insert my card and pay my total. I notice he didn't put in the free gift with purchase so i asked again if he still had the teacher planners. He said "oh you wanted that??" I said, "yes, that is why I asked you if you were still running that promotion...". He then told me he couldn't give it to me because I already completed the transaction. I was confused and a little annoyed already and he said "don't worry, you'll be back!". I wasn't going to argue over a free gift, because hey, it was free, but after being awkwardly bounced around from the two cashiers who did not want to ring me up, I just couldn't help but wonder when they started hiring incompetent employees such as these two guys! In the future I think I would just rather order my merchandise online as opposed to coming to this location. This location needs more training read more

The items are very high quality and always seem to improve based on new standards, etc. Sometimes, items can get a bit expensive which is the only reason I deducted a star.
