After our last stop at another location we used the app to look at the inventory at another nearby location. We did this at the suggestion of an employee at the other location and the app stated that this location would have the item in the amount we needed. We make the drive here and we come in and head the direction to the department we needed. We get there, and they do not have the quantities their inventory is depicting online. I think, overall, Michaels needs to do a thorough inventory or maybe look into some kind of theft inside. We bought all of the item that we were looking for, but when it came to wanting another selection of an item, it was hard to find something complimentary. And also in stock. We didn't find a complete set of any given jars they had on the shelves, but we grabbed what they had. One of the packages was open and was missing a glass. When we took it to the register to pay we asked about it, with the missing piece to the set of six, they gave us a discount on that item. I find the shopping carts at the Springfield Mall store nasty. Every single cart has hair, dirt, and who knows what wrapped around the wheels. This makes shopping difficult. The carts do not turn well nor even go forward without having to yank the cart over and over. I brought this up with the staff and wrote an email to the corporate office. This makes shopping there an unpleasant experience. I will only run in there when I need to grab something specific. For a pleasant shopping experience I head to Hobby Lobby. read more

Didn't get a "Hi Welcome To Michael's", but I was able to find and get what I needed which was a great thing! I found the cross stitch floss color that I needed/wanted to complete the project I was finishing up! Unfortunately the price has gone up from 25¢ years ago to $1.25 It would be great if we could get maybe 10 cross stitch floss for a low price of $5, because that way myself and others are able to get the chance to get all of the things that the project instructions call for all at once rather than making several trips back and forth to the store, just a suggestion. A staff member named Joe was a peach! Great customer service, positive vibes all the way! And a young lady there too, didn't get her name, bummer. Her vibes were great too! I went to Michael's at the Mount Vernon Plaza last night and I had the pleasure of meeting Mishfah and having him assist me with my balloons that needed to be blown up. Although is was his first time, and his coworker Priscilla was being very rude and had a nasty attitude towards him and myself, he still remained so soft spoken and kind and wouldn't give up until he succeeded in assisting me! I like Michael's framing center. I have used it several times and have been quite pleased with the service. Now, the customized framing can be a bit pricy, but I prefer to select one of the store's standard frames and have the framing specialists mat my picture in one of the standard frames. Hello everyone! I came here earlier this week (I have been here almost everyday and to other stores) and I had quite the experience. Long story short, I met a young lady here and we ended up becoming friends. We sat outside for approximately 40 minutes and she was teaching me a type of crochet stitch/technique. While we were outside, a young man sat near us and stated I had a nice watch. Although he did not do anything physically toward me, we erred on the side of caution and went inside. She ordered her Uber and was conversing with some of the staff there. As her Uber showed up, she asked if staff could walk me to my car and she waited until I made it which was very nice of her too. There is also security present in the shopping area as well. The manager, Camille, walked me all the way to my car and waited until I got in it to ensure I was safe. The other two young men, both of their names are Chris, were also polite gentlemen as well as they waited at the door to make sure we were safe as well. I truly appreciated their caring and protective manner; especially, because you do not find too many people like that anymore. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! After already being inconvenienced by another Michaels tonight, I was informed that this location had the items I needed and was told by the previous location that if I called they can put items on hold for me. Being as it was now 40-60 minutes away from my current location I called the store prior to heading out. The first time I called a young man answered and placed me on hold to which he hung up the phone. I immediately called back to which he said he could help me once I said that I wanted to see if they had two items in stock and for them to be placed on hold he said that would be something he needed a manger for.... Which is very unusual cause your literally checking to see if you have the items in your store, grabbing them, and placing them behind the counter. Basic general employee work right? I said okay to which he proceeded to place me on a 15 minute hold. After growing tired of waiting I hung up and called back. He answered again to say that the manager was busy but if I could give him one moment he would grab her. Proceeded to place me on hold for another 3-4 minutes once the manager answers I proceed to let her know the items I needed by name and item number and she said she will have an associate grab them and place them on hold behind the counter. I asked her if she needed my name to place them on hold to which she stated no just let someone at the register know you're coming to pick up two items. I made my way to the Michaels which in fact took me over an hour due to traffic. Only to get there and the manager in that time frame never grabbed the items. I spoke with a gentleman first by the name of Morgan I believe this is the young man who hung up on me. His clear lack of service and nonchalant attitude when telling me "well she never told me to get them but she there if you want to talk to her". As I waited while she was helping another customer Morgan called over another employee over to help by telling her "to bring her black a** over here" and when she didn't immediately come he said he wish he had a belt. He asked the employee if the manager had asked her to to get the items to which she stated no. Once I finally spoke with the manager she claimed her employees "were not able to find them" she then asks me for the items numbers again after telling her they were in my car she said she was wrote them in her phone and would go get her phone to get the numbers. At this point I'm highly annoyed by the pure lack of customer service being displayed, I walk to go just get the items myself and it took me LESS THAN A MINUTE to find and retrieve the items. I made my way to the register to make my purchase I attempted to use my 30% off coupon which would work. Morgan calls the manager over again who then tells me that it's not going to take my 30% off but couldn't give me a legit reason why I also never used the coupon before so idk why it wouldn't work. We scanned my 20% off to which Morgan decided to say "20% off is better than nothing" I'm completely disappointed with the uterus lack of customer service and care I experienced here. read more

Pretty standard michaels store. I have a lot of experience with this awful chain due to weddings and showers and the like. Being dragged by the wife. Not sure why she wants me there since I just complain and don't know where anything is. I did have some things framed there with the ubiquitous 50-60% off and it was pretty good. Make sure to download the app to have the 50% off coupon on any item by the way. Staff is ok but never seems to know where anything is and never around either. Thy have some craft classes for kids that might be ok. Overall, only place to get certain things and probably better for women so can't really judge too harshly I suppose. This is a big Michael's, though they have tons of product, the way this store is set up is difficult to find things. Usually I'd be ok with looking around for a while anyways but when asking staff for help they seemed uninformed themselves. They didn't know where 2 / 5 things I was looking for were at. The Framing Department is clearly under new management - I came to this Michaels over a year ago and was extremely disappointed with the lack of effort, customer service, and punctuality. However, I returned to this location recently and was extremely pleased with the new manager, Ed! Ed listened to what I wanted, made creative suggestions for frame and mat combinations, and assembled my piece before the due date! I was surprised to get a phone call nine days after I placed the order saying the piece was ready to be picked up! As a customer who had a previously awful experience with this store, I will definitely be returning here for all of my framing needs. read more

I visited Michaels in Potomac Yards on Saturday @645pm and was met at the door by the Manager Alicia whom said they were closed. She stated that they close the line off at 645. I didn't see a line or anyone in a line. I was on the Shipping Center prior and didn't see a line. If you advertise a time on the website then you should be able to enter the store before the store closes. I believe the Manager Alicia was taking advantage of the COVID-19 early closing and not letting your loyal customers into the shop. I will never return back to that store ever again. I would be "cereal" and my wife would be "milk" ...two of my favorite things. I went into the store and was really honest about my subpar art skills and they didn't judge me at all. They helped me SO MUCH! Our homemade costumes turned out great and we got a lot of laughs and compliments. My costume wouldn't have been possible if Cody and Brittney didn't come to my rescue. I came into this Michael's because I needed 4 of my vintage ski posters framed. There was an older woman working at the Frame Station who was extremely unfriendly towards me. She rushed me along (there weren't even any other customers) as I was trying to choose my frames and mats. She kept trying to get me to buy a hodge-podge of frames even though the prints were to hang by each other in my home, necessitating matching frames. I could not leave my frames and prints and get out of there fast enough. I left feeling disrespected and upset. Her attitude was horrible. I came back about a week later after I received a call that my framing was finished. A couple of weeks after I hung my prints, one started falling down inside the glass. I called the store and asked how it was matted and if I could just fix it myself, as Michael's was a long, inconvenient drive from where I lived. The woman on the phone insisted that I should never try to do it myself, as I would totally ruin it. I begrudgingly returned to the store with the print just to be told "why did you come in? It's only taped." She removed the back of the frame to show me this expensive frame and mat job I paid for was just someone taping my print to the mat. Lesson learned... read more

Michaels.....you did it again. You lured me in because you're the only game in town and once again, I walked out empty handed. While I have had some good experiences with the framing dept in this particular store, I can never seem to find enough of any color yarn to ever complete or start a project and the silk flowers seem to slowly be reverting over to the cheaper brands. Seems like all the good stock is used to make pre-made wreaths to sell instead of leaving the stock for the customer who would like to actually "craft" one themselves. Over the years I have seen this weird shift of merchandise happening in all of the Michael's stores. They sell more and more dollar store stuff and less and less actual craft materials. Looking for candle making stuff? Good luck if you can find all the materials you'll need Soap making? Same thing. There have even been times when they were always out of plain grapevine wreaths. I mean seriously.....what the hell? In the last two weeks I went in to buy a canvas and could not find one that was the size I needed and last week, before the big snow storm I wanted to get some yarn to start an afghan. And believe me, I was not hell bent on any particular color scheme, but I could not find any or enough of any of the colors in the same brand of yarn to complete a single afghan. Whoever the buyer is for that store needs to learn more about crocheting and knitting. Oh yeah, and forget about asking anyone for help because it has been my experience that Michaels' employees are the most miserable ones around. I don't know what management does to their employees, but if making them grouchy and irritable is your goal, then all I have to say is "good job! " So as I walked out of the store with my husband last Sunday I felt a little sad because I swore I will not be back. It was like a bad bad break up in a way, since I have been a loyal customer since the very beginning, but I can't give this place my business anymore. I am completely disgusted by my experience in this store today. First, I placed 2 orders online with in store pick up, one in Springfield and one on Richmond Hwy. I placed the order at 2 stores to ensure that I received everything that I needed since neither store had everything in stock. The next morning I found out that neither store had all items in stock as stated online and the amount on my order was reduced. So, I ended up returning the items because I didn't have what I needed to complete my project. This morning at about 0930, I went to the store on Richmond Hwy to return both orders. I did not have the inventory sheet that I was given at pick up for one of the orders. C was helping me and explained that she could not pull up and process the return using the email notifications for the order. Although C was patient and friendly, she was unable to process the return. So, I asked to speak to a manager. Angie came to the register with a nasty demeanor, was rude and told C that she needed to override it then walked away. Instead of helping me herself or staying with C until the transaction was completed, she went and opened another register. C tried for about 20 min to process my return with no success. She asked Angie several time for help and for the override code with no response. Angie was at the register next to us and offered absolutely no assistance. In fact, C ended up calling another manager to get an override code. After all of this happened, C was still unable to process my return and have the money put on my card. She could only give me store credit because the return was processed as a non-receipt. I made this purchase for my Girl Scout so I needed the funds put back on the card. If I had made this purchase for myself, I would have taken the store credit. I decided to go to the framing department to see if they could pull up the invoice since that is where I picked up my order from. The young lady in the framing department informed me the only a manager can pull up the invoice and that Angie was the highest ranking manager on duty. So, I asked for the district managers contact information. She informed me that I could only get the information from Angie. I went back to the front of the store and asked Angie for the district managers contact information. At that point, her whole demeanor changed and she became extremely helpful. In fact, she WAS able to process my return using the emails that I received from Michael's. It took her less than 5 minutes to process the return. I spent nearly 40 minutes in the store this morning trying to return items for a transaction that should have took 5 minutes. Angie was rude, unhelpful and provided horrible customer service. She only decided to help me when I asked about the district manager. I feel sorry for C, who has to deal with a manager that treats her the way Angie did and will NEVER return to this store. With the amount of Michael's stores in this area and the competition from other craft store, you would think that this store would focus more on quality customer care. Further, is your online ordering and returns process so antiquated that a customer cannot return an item using an order number or online invoice? If so, you need to look at updating your processes. I should not have had to spend 40 minutes in the store this morning. read more

I have no idea why this establishment only has an aggregate two stars, so I'm remedying that. Stopped in to grab some crafting supplies on a slow Tuesday mid-morning. The store was well-stocked and its prices for everything were reasonable. You can't beat a stand-alone Star Wars crafting display either, so again, complain about what you will but there's a definite upside here. The store was also well lit and accommodates clientele with clean and maintained restrooms. The staff was knowledgeable in response to a few questions I had, and they directed me to the right aisles for the supplies I sought. In addition to all this, the cashiers managed several customers ahead of me in a swift, timely manner, so I didn't have to wait long to check out. read more

Worst custom framing department ever. We have always gone to Michaels for our custom framing. Twice now we have had terrible customer service at this store. In fact, this last experience the clerk pulled 2 choices for mat colors, then got upset when we didn't like the colors. She went into the back room in the middle of helping us. At other Michaels stores we have had wonderful experience with real professionals. They have given us options, put the choices on the computer so we could see the end result and helped us pick out frames. Rudest sales clerk and so unprofessional at this store. read more

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, you know the rest. DO NOT, under any circumstance trust this location of Michael's for your framing needs! I've used this location twice in the last several months and in both occasions I've been burned. In the first instance, the framing order wound up being a month late due to the shop discovering late in the process that the frame they needed was out of stock. No biggie, right, these things happen..... In the second and most recent occasion, I'm left feeling angry. I placed what should have been a simple order for a matte to fit an existing frame. My wife (with baby in tow) went to the location to pick up the order a few weeks after the promised date. She waited twenty minutes while they rummaged in the back looking for the order. They eventually emerge and told her that the order had never been placed and that it would be expedited. I get a follow up call from the Manager Khalid a week later asking me about the details of the order. When I explain our recent troubles with this location, he agrees that it's not acceptable and says ALL charges will be comped by them and that the order should be ready in the next week. Fast forward another week, Khalid calls and says the matte is ready and again says the order will be comped. You know where this is going, huh? My wife goes in to pick up the matte today and the staff argues with her that it won't be comped. They call Khalid who's off and he says that he agreed to comp the expedited shipping (ha), not the cost of the matte (which is now a month and a half late due to their mistake). You have to be kidding me!! This is the worst customer service I've experienced since living in NoVA 10 years now. Avoid, avoid, avoid. FYI: I've used the Michael's location at Seven Corners many times in the past and have always been pleased. While it's a longer drive, I'll be going there in the future for our framing needs. read more

Well, maybe I have just been in on good days but I have had excellent experience in this store. Employees have been extremely helpful in helping me find what I want and in my most recent experience the staff was amazing. After one staff member assisted me in finding a frame and felt material to make a double frame of my son's military photo and insignia I went to the framing desk. The staff member there provided me excellent guidance and due to her expertise I got the perfect mat with the borders cut in a way I would not have though of but is perfect. There was no pressure to have them do it for me. This was a DIY that they made almost no money on and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. read more
