amazing experience it didn't start off there but ended amazing. Property under new ownership and when we book the last owner took my money and didn't make my reservation and we book 4 months ago. The new owner made a way that they could still accommodate us. we had to do some moving around each day but we had drove so far and family drove 13 we didn't want to just get a refund. The new owners took care of us and now have a long last customer because of it. thank you for all the accommodations and hospitality your treated us so well and you didn't have to. Place In process of renovations and the property will look amazing. Couldn't wait to come again. The Henderson's

The new restaurant owners defiantly know how to cook. The French dip was great but the zucchini has fresh cut zucchini in. I will defiantly be back.

Just ordered an elk burger medium rare with Swiss cheese and fries. Rene makes a mean dirty martini!

Our lodge keeper recommended Lakeshore Inn even though there is a bar and grill right across the street from the motel. It was a nice afternoon, so we walked down the road and checked it out. It's a pleasant venue right on a small cove of Lake Shasta. We were the first ones to arrive, and Rene was ready to serve us our cocktails. Lorraine brought us the menu and we decided on the elk burger and fries, which was delicious! Some locals came in and we all got to talking to each other. We enjoyed the hospitality and the food and drinks as well as the venue. Who knew a tiny town like Lakehead would have such a charming restaurant!

The old man was rude as can be and the food taste like dog treats, I only gave them a star because they had live music which was nice

Great chef. From a ski resort in Colorado. Fantastic menu. Must try the grilled Caesar salad.

This place is soooo much fun. You can rent a cabin and stay the night. Great place to come and hang out! One of our favorite places to go!

We had the lodge decorated, inside and outside to accommodate all our guests. Scott did not hesitate to help us move the furniture, chairs and even got our beer kegs set up. We were able to enjoy the grounds with morning walks, late night talks, a fire pit and the deck with an incredible view. It's truly a weekend the entire family won't forget! Thank you Scott and Julie for the incredible weekend! Your resort is truly beautiful and we can't wait to come back and enjoy it again!

The staff were friendly and the entire check in process was easy. For the price, we got an individual tiny cabin with two bedrooms and a bath. It came with a simple kitchen and an awesome patio overlooking the, unfortunately, near empty lake. The staff informed us that the lake had been drained to help fight recent California wildfires, so that made me feel a little bit better. Anyways, the cabin was clean and everything you would need for a nice relaxing stay. My biggest qualm was that the hot water did not work so we were not able to take a shower (unless it was ice water cold). And the Internet did not work - not for browsing or streaming pleasure but simply for cell phone service in such a remote area. All in all, a decent spot to stay in the Shasta Lake area.

There were spider webs everywhere, ceiling fans looked like they hadn't been cleaned. Even their own cleaning crew said it was bad. This was concerning to me because they charge everyone a $265 cleaning fee. Then when this was discussed with Lori, she was confused as to why we didn't bring it up at check in. I didn't know I had to thoroughly inspect the cleanliness of a rental upon arrival. I thought it was standard. Not here apparently. Lori was responsive but continued to make comments as things came up like "I'm surprised you're deciding to stay", as if we didn't pay $800/night to stay there. Their stove burners had issues the whole weekend, the slider wouldn't lock, they were using a PVC pipe for safety. House was very dated for the price. Views were beautiful but Wasn't impressed with the house at all.

We came in March while it was raining so we stayed inside most of the time but we can imagine coming here in the summer. There is so much to do and explore on land and on water. There are two lakefront retreats to choose from. We stayed in retreat #1 which sleeps 10 people. You can stroll down to the marina and boat docks. They also have a hot tub that you can use. We really enjoyed it on the cold day that we stayed.

We booked a houseboat at Antlers Resort over Memorial Day weekend and overall had a good…read moreexperience, though there were both highlights and some notable drawbacks. What Went Well: * Booking and Check-In: The resort staff were organized, clear, and responsive. From initial inquiries to payment reminders, everything was handled efficiently. Check-in took just a few minutes, and they helped us transport luggage and spent 30-60 minutes giving us a personal walkthrough of the boat, which we appreciated. * Boat Quality: We were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to a nicer boat. The vessel was well-equipped, featuring a hot tub, water slide, full kitchen (oven, microwave, running water)--everything was in great condition and very enjoyable. * Support and Communication: Throughout the trip, the staff were easily reachable by phone and did wellness check-ins, which made us feel supported. When we had issues, they were quick to advise and assist. * Departure and Return: Staff helped guide us out of the harbor with hand signals and came out to help dock the boat at the end of the trip, which we really appreciated. What Could Be Improved: * Instruction at Check-In: The person assigned to instruct us was clearly more mechanically inclined and admitted it was their first time training guests. The walkthrough was overly technical, hard to absorb, and not well suited for first-timers--especially with 11 people depending on us. We wish we had received the manual in advance, or even better, a simple infographic showing common procedures (e.g., starting the boat, docking, using the generator). * Safety & Docking Design Flaws: A major issue occurred when another group walking across the rocks used our mooring ropes as support, dislodging the stake and causing our boat to drift. The bridge (gangway) detached and fell underwater, and due to its weight (~50-100 lbs), we struggled to lift it back. This wasn't addressed in the manual, and the design--where the bridge is easily detached and only secured by ropes underneath the boat--feels flawed. While staff were helpful over the phone and eventually explained how to fix it free of charge, we were initially told it would cost $150, which was frustrating. This kind of issue could be much harder for smaller groups or families to handle safely. Final Thoughts: Despite a few technical and structural frustrations, Antlers Resort staff showed professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to help throughout the weekend. The boat itself was excellent, and the free upgrade and strong support helped offset the downsides. However, we recommend that they improve onboarding materials and bridge design for a smoother and safer guest experience. We'd still consider returning, but would come better prepared--and would strongly suggest that future guests request the manual early and ask about bridge/docking procedures in advance.

The camp ground is a bit run down and some of the spots are quite small and crammed in together whereas some are quite large. Please be aware they also charge you for electricity over and above your camping cost. There are some trees with fairly low branches that hang over the fire out, which in my opinion is a fire hazard. Also, a ton of poison oak around our camp site meant we had to be extra careful how we set up so the dogs couldn't get into it and give it to us. The good: easy access to the lake, nice marina. Great fishing. The dogs loved it.
