STEPHANIE and JAY have owned and lovingly cared for this little SWEETIE for 18 years. Stephanie needs new knees and they are seriously considering the sale of this wonderful property. It is not listed for sale but they are thinking about it. Yes the location is right next to the highway but they have new dual pane windows so we didn't hear any noise all night. The elevation here is only 1200' so it's the perfect mountain life year round. It feels like your totally high up but snow here is minimal. Like all small old rustic resorts this one will always be a work in progress! But as they go this one is in really lovely condition! Looks like a virtually new roof to me. It's very well maintained by the owners. The picnic area is located under wisteriaand I'm told there are a variety of wisteria here. There are also plum, pear and apple trees and berries you are welcome to pick and eat. They do NOT spray them so how AweSome is that? Winter rates start at $55 for rooms with new queen beds. There are a variety of room sizes among the 10 available rooms including 2 rooms that sleep 6 There is a LOT of boat parking. And I walked off the big one at about 36' from trailer tongue to prop! And it's an easy pull around if you are towing. I'd definitely stay here again. It's just way more fun than the big sterile hotels where all the rooms are rather dull. My wife, 8yo daughter and I were attending a wedding a few minutes north of here and chose Shasta Lake Motel as our stay for the night. We arrived to a very friendly greeting from the owner/front desk clerk. After quickly checking in we made our way to our room. It was about what we expected. It was clean, rustic and had adequate amenities. We would have preferred two beds but we waited till the last minute to book, and that was our fault. The room had DirectTV, newer flat panel tv, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot and AC. Given it was 107, almost setting a record, the AC was a must. The pool was a welcome site. We jumped in for a few minutes. The owner even shared some goggles and a pool toy with my daughter. A very kind gesture. Quick side note, there is a restaurant, a bar, a general store and a great coffee shop less than 200 yards away. All well within walking distance should you need anything. I would recommend this spot to anyone. If you're a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons kind of person you will need to temper your expectations. At the end of the day, SLM is a ten room motel in a lakeside town. But a great one at that. read more

Overall, it was A-OK. We rented a houseboat for a couple days and stationed the boat in four different areas. There were some really great spots for total seclusion, however, majority of the lake was extra wavey from the powerboats. Visiting here would be ideal for a one-day in-the-sun-fun, but anything more than that gets boring. There is nothing special about this lake. read more

We camped at Lakeshore East and loved it. There were a few things I would improve and would have liked to know before I went. 1) Yellow Jackets - we didn't have any mosquitos, but the yellowjackets were horrible. 2) No good lake access, and not real great lake views. There are plenty of places around to get to lake and this is a good basecamp, but you have to drive to get to the lake. 3) No showers, not a huge deal, but would have been nice to know. I have seen worse campgrounds and one major plus is the nice little mom and pop store across the street that has choco tacos. read more

If you like power boats, and lots of em, then this is the place for you! Swimming under the water, all you can hear is the drone of propellers, and the entry points here are rocky and dirty. We had a blast rooms, were small and cozy it was the beginning of there off season so the pool was closed and no real amenities to speak of ie ice or vending machines but we managed the staff was great, very friendly and had great suggestions for local eateries we stayed one night and returned two days later for one more night in a different room just as Quant a little bit bigger of a bathroom, we will be coming back to stay again next season i will be sure to tell all my friends about this place. read more

Awesome little place! We needed somewhere to rest for the night from our trip to Oregon. I called and spoke with the owner and she was able to accommodate our family. We stayed in cabin #7. It came equipped with an electric range, a small fridge, microwave, a coffee maker, 3 beds, bathroom, towels and a TV. The rooms are clean and cozy. Outside they have a tether ball for the kids a basketball hoop and a pool where their adorable and friendly doggies might join you for a swim. It is a very peaceful and quite place. It is literally about a min away from the lake, grocery store, gas station and restaurants. The owners are a sweet couple, that make you feel welcomed and comfortable from the moment you get there. I went here because there was only about 3 places to stay in the area. The office was always locked. I don't think that I would go back. I would probably drive farther north or south to find somewhere else. The wifi did not work, I tried on two different devices. The walls were very thin, I could hear everything the people in the next room talking about, even when I had my tv on. The bed was not comfortable. The things I can say good about it was that I had a nice hot shower and the rug was clean. read more

Excellent stay! Reasonably priced. This appeared to be an old lake/fishing town. We stayed here midweek. Now while I am always up for a unique journey, I can usually be found at high-end Vegas hotels. But when you're on the road and need a place to bunk for the night, you must keep an open mind and take the experience for what it is. This isn't the Hyatt, folks. I was happy that there was no riff-raff or sketchy folks loitering around outside and no noise (again, we were here midweek). It was cute and quaint. Would stay again. I did not take into account the solar eclipse and found myself in travels on a very very busy Hotel day from Salem to Northern California and I was fortunate enough to find a room at this place. It is ran by a wonderful couple and they were very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure their guests were incredibly comfortable. I especially liked watching their Turtles when I was checking in. If you are tracking your way through the mountains I need a place to stop I highly recommend this place. read more

I have stayed at the Shasta Lake Motel at least 20 times in the last few years. Why? #1 PRICE, not long ago rooms went for 45.00. Its increased slightly but not by much. #2 is convenience, its 10 seconds off I-5. #3 Dog Friendly, nice grounds with swimming pool horse shoe pit, bbq even tether ball for the kiddies. Management is a husband and wife team who could not possibly be any more accomodating and kind. Shasta Lake Motel is a quiet, quaint, rustic, welcoming, comfortable place to stay at a great price. Was up in the Shasta area and ended up needing a place to stay with little notice. A friend recommended this place to me and I was not disappointed! The owners are super kind and were able to accommodate our large group. Our room was honestly way nicer than most chain motels I've stayed at. The grounds are spacious, and well shaded with a pool and a lot of picnic areas. It's great for kids and for friends to hang out outside. The lake is literally a 5 minute walk down the road with a bridge to swing off of. Definitely staying here again when I'm in the area. From high up and far away, Shasta Lake is rather picturesque. But it's somewhat underwhelming up close. Most of the shoreline appears to be either steeply sloped or filled with construction rocks. We were unable to find a suitable beach to hang out and relax. There are, however, several fairly decent hiking trails nearby. (Note: we did not explore the entire lake; this review is limited to the Packers Bay region.) read more

We rented a houseboat for a couple of nights. The boys had fun, but I doubt we will do it again here. I expected more of a Sierra Nevada mountain lake experience, so I was disappointed. This reservoir is only about 1100 feet above the Central Valley floor. So, in the summer, the temperatures are usually in the 90s, and sometimes hotter. Since this is an artificial lake, most of the shoreline is hillside. This means steep banks and dropoffs. If you are a powerboating fan, you might enjoy this place more. read more

This place is a great find in the Lake Shasta area. There are not many lodging options this close to the action on the lake. As far as motels go the Shasta Lake Motel is a clear winner. It is centrally located between the Sugarloaf and Antlers boat launches/marinas, steps away from the local market, and just across the street from the family friendly (unitll 10:00 pm) Basshole Bar and Grill. The grounds offer a lovely treed setting with a great area for BBQs or picnics as well as a pool. The rooms (although dated in decor) are VERY clean and well maintained. The motel is a family friendly, family run establishment which shows a definate pride in ownership. I would definately reccomend the Shasta Lake Motel to anyone looking for this type of lodging on Lake Shasta. read more

I was very disappointed with the off season amenities ,if i,d been been told at the time of making my reservation that the bar restraunt and phone would be closed at any given time I would of made another choice. The cabins are run down the top of the refrigerator had"t been cleaned forever the bed were unconfotable my daughter blanket had a whole in it . When Iasked for another oone there wasn"t anyone who knew where to get one. We cut our trip short to go home. . We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and were really impressed. It is an older motel but the rooms were really clean and the owners are really nice. Our room was clean and the bed was made everynight. We forgot a bag for our dirty laundry and whoever cleaned our room left us a bag to pack our clothes out in. I'd never stay here, ever! Never call them by there #! Look into there website!! She will tell you they are on the lake even by Tail O the Whale restaurant, but they are 10 miles away from! That's how they rope you into thinking you have the Bay Bridge Resort (which is way better and worth your money!) They won't tell you how much you owe, and will charge you almost $200.00 without signing anything or even staying there! Go to the Bay Bridge Resort!! On the lake, better place that tells you the truth and worth every penny!! Went back to the Shasta lake motel to dispute charges for not staying there. Owners "thought" about refunding half our $ but wanted us to sign papers. Told them no, I didn't have to sign for them to charge me, don't need to sign for my refund. This is a very cool old school mom and pop hotel. First I was there for work, it was the closest hotel I could find due to the fire in Redding. I kind of felt like the owner was trying to nickel and dime me us due to the fact it's a large company that I work for. First when I reduced the amount of days we were originally thought we would be stay by 3 days she really complained next 2 crew members found rooms in Redding and booked them. When I tried to cancel the 2 extra rooms she still charged me for the rooms. Most hotels I have stayed at they would at the most charged me for 1 night not for the whole stay. I am sorry that the fire may have ruined your season but I was there to help the people Redding. Also I was charged up front for the rooms then later the owner told me that she didn't charge me enough. I definitely need to get a itemized receipt. I think the topper is that one of the guys got sick and vomited on the carpet. I don't mind paying to have the carpet cleaned but when she said it may possibly need to be replaced I was shocked, Really! Besides that I still gave it 3 stars. The rooms were very comfortable. The setting was great and I would definitely think about staying there if I was a pleasure trip. The bar/restaurant was just across the street and the food was good. We all really enjoyed our stay here! Older motel that is kept up really well and a great place for families to stay. The pool was clean and had a shallow side for the little ones and the deeper end was just right for the kids, 7 and 8 years old. Laundromat on one side and a restaurant and convenience store on the other. Easy to find, right off of the 5 fwy and walking distance from the lake. Can't swim there but was a nice walk and a great place to take pics. The owners are super friendly and helpful! Very familiar with the area and will tell you about all the places you can try and things to do. Their pets are great too! Hope to come back soon and will definitely stay at Shasta Motel. read more

This is our second time here in 3 years all the way from Alberta. Both times we have enjoyed. The owners are friendly and very accommodating . Within one block is the grocery store, pub, restaurant, and laundry mat.. Doesn't get better than that for a holiday. Oh and the outdoor pool is always a fun time too...
