Lakeside is a behavioral facility that is run by a large company, which also runs a lot of other poorly organized behavioral facilities. It is a money making franchise. Problems arise often and are rarely addressed because the company is so big and doesn't really care about anyone's health in the first place. Patients are not allowed to have a voice in their "healing" process and are ignored when they ask for help. Patients are all places on many of the same drugs as the place is just a drug pushing environment. Patients are often prescribed the wrong drugs because Lakeside gets paid by drug companies who have been asked to push their drugs. Lakeside has also had many incidences involving sexual activity between its staff and patients. read more

Where to begin? I have been here a couple times. Staff is beyond terrible. I think I had 2 nurses that were worth anything. Intake was 9 hours. 9. The staff seems to get rude and hateful when any sign of mental illness is there. They wouldn't give me my Inhaler on more than one occasion. Nor my Zofran or Tylenol. There was this one guy who spent the entire time I was there on my last visit, he kept his hand down his pants touching himself. One of the nursing aids told me that I would be fine if I just quite taking my meds and lose weight. He made numerous comments like this. I reported him but never heard back. read more

DO NOT SEND LOVED ONES TO THIS PLACE!!!! THIS IS A PRISON in disguise!!!!! This place is more of a correctional facility than a therapeutic setting for mental health services. The staff is incompetent and rude and will threaten an involuntary committal even on lucid patients suffering from mild depression. There is no such thing as a mental health assessment. If you take anyone here, it is more of an "intake". One Assessment Supervisor even stated that the hospital admissions is "a numbers game". If you dare ask too many questions about the care of a loved one, the first line of defense is, "We will call the police to have you removed". They have patients (of all ages) locked in a holding area for hours!!! After admission, you are not allowed to see your loved ones and the staff will not give you any information about their care!!! My experience started with a Doctor that looked at me like I was crazy. I had 2 NP take me off benzo cold turkey and put me Xanax and Paxil. I was not sleeping and finally asked for help. My husband took me to Baptist and the nurses Maddie and Paige were good but the Doctor Rishan Desta had the worse bed side manners. I spoke with Pathway and told the lady that I had had a suicidal thought but I had no plan and that I was a rational person just sleep deprived. Talked to Pathway and counselor told me after about 45 minutes of talking that she wanted me to get in touch with Doctor in morning and start working on a sleep regiment. So you can imagine my shock when they come and tell me I am going to Lakeside by ambulance. I never argued with them. Wanted to know why my husband could not take me and they said Dr Desta worried I would jump out of the car. I am not that messed up and I told them it was all the medicines and I just needed help getting back on what worked for me. Know we are at Lakeside I get that at 2:30 went through 3 assessments and the last guy threatened me to sign an involuntary sheet. I argued bc I had come willing. He told me if I did not sign the form I would have all my rights removed and I would never buy a gun again. So after more discussion I signed the form. Also told them when I got there i needed my hear medicine over and over. They kept telling me I would get in on the unit. Skip forward to 3:00 am in the morning. I have now gone 24 hours with sleep. I get to the west wing and the Nurse there was not helpful and told me I had no medicine waiting on me and that I would have to wait till medicine time. Again no sleep bc at 5 I am listening to a lady yelling profanities and she ended up hitting a tech and it took several to take her down. This went on for about 30 minutes. Finally got my medicine and I finally got to call my husband who I had signed off for him to know everything that was going on with me. Imagine 2 days of no communication He was about to lose his mind. Skip forward a few hours and I finally see my Doctor who after talking to me said I did not belong on that wing and he was transferring me to the Landing. Can I just tell you when I got there my anxiety dropped tremendously. The Nurse Martina, Jennifer, tech Alex, Shawn and Joshua was the best. They would answer and questions and help in any way. But I ended up being there almost 7 full days and never laid eyes on my therapist till right before I was discharged. I asked for help but since being released and seeing a counselor and a Doctor I have been told my situation was handled so wrong on many levels. I feel for the others that are thrown to the wolves. If anxiety or panic is your trigger you should never be thrown in an area where the chaos is already so high. I want to find out to be an advocate for those that have no support when they get out and I think the system need some major updates. I understand staff is probably pretty shorthanded but compassion goes along ways in just starting the healing process. read more

What we thought to be a positive way to get help for our loved one turned out to be a nightmare In every way !!!! Our loved one was traumatized . The doctor used scare tactics to manipulate our loved one ...,the doctor used threats and lies in an effort to force medications . Instead of getting HELP , our loved one regressed Dramatically ! All they really want to do is prescribe medication . If you refuse to take the meds by mouth, they threaten to stab you with a needle which is very dangerous as high doses can cause serious affects .....notice I did not say SIDE affects .... I don't consider serious allergic reactions or death to be a SIDE affect ! Please do not ever think this place is the answer or a way to get Help . It is exactly the opposite !!!!!!!! *also , You better have great insurance and DEEP pockets ! read more

DONT GO HERE!!! I Went there as a troubled teen struggling a lot, they never listened to what I said, put me on a bunch of new meds that basically sedated me, and when I saw in there I got caught trying to pass a note to a boy and instead of just taking the note and throwing it away the staff publicly humiliated me by reading out loud and making fun of me and then when I tried to grab the note out of there hand they called security on me and had their biggest officer come and pin me to the ground while I cried and hyperventilated and I was only 13. I am much more depressed and am suffering from heightened PTSD after 8 days and 7 sleepless nights inpatient. Techs are rude, ignore and are racist against whites, play favourites, and talk about other patients in front of them and others. If you love yourself or anyone else, stay away. The reason I gave Lakeside 1 star instead of none, is because Elizabeth Beasley's a wonderful counsellor, and Gigi is a great Tech. read more

Just beware, I truly feel after being in Healthcare for over 25 years , there is a no more disturbing place. Unfortunately, in my personal opinion Lakeside can not meet the needs of mentally compromised patients especially children Check the lawsuits against there providers in court records Unfortunately, they DO accept many insurance programs that other choice facilities have opted out of . In the Memphis area , with so few choices , patients are sent there. Little service and many delays are experienced. That is after they take your personal belongings and promise help which is not given urgently as should be expected in a emergency Psych facility. My son was admitted to Lakeside voluntarily and had expressed hope of finally receiving help for the emotional turmoil he'd been experiencing for several months. It was clear that he was ready to do the hard work required to address his troubles, including any prescribed medication therapy, daily meetings with the staff psychiatrist(s), one-on-one counseling, and group therapy. He understood that he would be inpatient, and that his contact with friends and family would be greatly limited. He expressed willingness to comply with all of these conditions and even seemed excited about finally getting help. Within 3 days of his admission, at a scheduled family visit, we could clearly see the "treatment" he'd received in his dramatically short stay had drained him of the hope with which he'd entered the facility. He was in far worse condition than when he'd gone in, angry, sad, hopeless, and bitter at his sense of betrayal. Not a betrayal by us, his parents, but by Lakeside. His father, younger brother, and I were stunned and horribly concerned for our struggling elder son's wellbeing. When, as a result of our observations in that visit, we made the decision to have our son transferred to another behaviorial health facility immediately, I was categorically informed that any attempt on my part to remove him from Lakeside would result in his immediate involuntary commitment - even if transported by ambulance, which I had suggested in an attempt to show that my intent was to have him transferred, not to reject or otherwise discontinue treatment. Note that the threat of involuntary commitment would not be contingent upon his symptoms and/or behaviors, but upon my attempt to have him transferred to another inpatient mental health facility. This begs the questions: How could such an order be advisable for the good for my already tormented and now discouraged and emotionally bruised son? And furthermore... why? Once the proclamation was handed down, the staff refused to communicate with me, though I spent upwards of four hours in the waiting area (immediately after meeting with our son on that third day of his stay) in further attempts to get my point across to the Lakeside psychiatrists. Neither psychiatrist spoke to us at any point during our son's stay at Lakeside. Not once. The evidently intractable threat of involuntary commitment was handed down to the hospital staff by Robert Hoehn, MD (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry)* who oversaw our son's case, and/or by that weekend's on-call psychiatrist, Paul D. Clein, MD. (Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry). I believe that Clein works exclusively at Lakeside. Hoehn has a private practice and serves as Medical Consultant at Daybreak Treatment Center, day program for children & adolescents in Germantown, TN. Our son was discharged from Lakeside first thing Monday morning, 5 days after admission, though he'd had no meeting with any psychiatrist between the family visit and that morning. Why he was forced to remain inpatient, with no groups, counseling, or exams since our shocking Saturday visit is still a mystery, though I have suspicions regarding Hoehn's and Clein's behaviors - suspicions regarding the determination to predominate their patients' loved ones when their prescribed treatment plans were brought into question or challenged, and of course the determination to collect insurance payments for those extra days. Based on my family's experience and on my own personal interactions with its badly trained, sullen, lazy, unprofessional staff, I must tell you that I do not possess the vocabulary required to express the lengths to which I would go in order to protect my children from Lakeside Behavioral Health Center. *This is our second negative experience with Hoehn, who once suggested - in my son's presence - that the vocal tics he was experiencing might well be a deliberate attempt to gain attention. The vocal tics were, within a few weeks of that offering, officially diagnosed as one of the presenting symptoms of full-blown Tourette Syndrome. read more

At The Landing - Very mixed experience. Ceci, the therapist/counselor for the Landing, was very good with the group sessions in the morning. However, in the 1 on 1 meetings, she could be very mean. Ceci had a very short fuse and would badger patients very often. As a matter of fact her temper and how quickly she would get angry severely impeded my therapy and the work that was put in to help my mental state improve. The nurses, Lina, Morgan, Chelsea and James were great. Lina in particular was very pleasant and very kind/understanding with all the patients. I would not, however, recommend going to The Landing specifically because of Ceci's foul temper. I cannot emphasize enough just how much that hindered my recovery. read more

A while back my friend was struggling mentally, and so his parents decided to send him to a mental hospital, his mom thought it was a good place, since he told me his mom found a 5 star review on this place. Terribly understaffed. They put people in a corridor of 12+ rooms and ignore them for hours and hours. Husband waited 4 hrs. for "assessment" with no communication from their staff. Then told he's 9th in line with no estimate of further wait, and they won't release his phone or keys. Talked other family members waiting who had been there 8-12 hours with no assessment, one who's daughter was suicidal. Patients laying on the floor. Husband has afib and no monitoring of his vitals or anyone elses. They never even asked about his current meds or even his insurance. Made enough of a ruckus to get transferred to psych and then released. Why wasn't a suicidal woman transferred to psych right away? And then they lost his walker. read more

I was on the east unit to begin with and then transferred to the west unit. The east unit was unsanitary with poop on the toilets and patients that were allowed to walk around with blood on them. The unit itself smelt of body odor and urine. The staff on the east unit treated the patients like inmates yelling and cussing at us. There was a Male staff that kept intruppting group with comments about his own life. Theres roaches the size of my half my hand and when asked to talk to my therapist I was yelled at. When I was transferred to the west unit it was different however there were still patients that were allowed to walk around with ripped blue suits and not asked to shower. I still think that o should have been able to meet one on one with my counselor more than once in two and a half weeks. When I asked the staff on the west unit to see my therapist they said something to the affect of they dont do that here, that it's mostly group therapy. I was really surprised at the way the staff on the east unit were allowed to talk to the patients. It was like being in a horror movie being on that east unit. Upon admission to the hospital I spent 8 hours in a cold room with no blanket and staff that was laughing at me because I was crying at which point they proceeded to cuss at me. When I asked for my medication I was told that I couldnt get them until I was on the unit. Which like I said took 8hours. According to another patient one of the patients died while in the in-take process. And she had to watch and listen to him as he died. This experience was traumatic for me as well as other patients that I talked to while on the west unit. I wrote this review so that people will know the truth about Lakeside. Please dont send your family to Lakeside. read more

Horrible place. I was sent here for depression, and they forgot to give me a folder every patient gets, which included a few worksheets. During a group therapy session everyone presented their folder and finished worksheets and I didn't have one due to a mishap on their end. Instead of being understanding to this issue, the therapist harassed me in childish ways (mocking, name calling, teasing) and called me a liar, attempting to "shame me out of my ways" that is his method of therapy, harassing and shaming others. He made me stand up, apologize to the group that for being a "dirty liar", then sent me to sit alonein a corner, and write phrases over and over again for "lying" After that entire experience I was more depressed than before, dirty sheets, showers with.. boogers on the walls, and staff that treated patients like we didn't deserve their presence. I ended up lying about improving to get an early release, as did many in "therapy" Honestly the worst mental hospital I have ever been to, I would not recommend sending someone there if you care for them. read more

I suffer from several mental health diagnosis' as well as substance abuse problems as well as eating disorders. Lakeside was the only facility I thought would be beneficial to me that accepted my insurance (Medicare with Amerishield crossover) Every hospitalization, 5 total have gone from mediocre at best to absolutely terrible. The last stay I was given the wrong medication, taken off some of the medications my outside psychiatrist prescribes me at home which really took a toll on my mental health. While in admissions I was given a shot of various medications to help with detox. 14 hours later when I finally got admitted on to a unit I was given a "loading dose" of so much phenobarbital I was knocked out for a day and a half straight until finally awoken to see my assigned psychiatrist (Dr. Harris, whom I'd not wish my worst enemy be under the care of) He graduated with his Doctorate in 1968 and should be retired by now. He has absolutely no short or long term memory and will call you a liar, curse at you and treat you like a dog. Besides being highly understaffed the few that work there that do care are wonderful if you happen to luck out and cross paths with these people. The staff members are rude and use scare tactics and punishments not only to the ones who are deserving of some sort of corrective action but to the whole unit. I have PTSD and panic disorder among other problems and this is not conducive to my mental health at all. I threw up 14 times and reported to not only the charge nurse as well as the "community counselors" and nothing was done. My blood pressure had skyrocketed to 174/138 with a temperature of 101.9 and still had nothing done to help me. The food is absolutely terrible and most times you can see all the fat and grease floating at the top. If you have no other choice than to end up in a glorified jail, while in admissions it would be wise to request Dr. Fu (Foo) or Dr. Suhn (Soon) these are the only two Dr.s who genuinely care about their patients and have a very wonderful bedside manner. I understand that every detox/rehab is what you make if it but this place will make you want to get out and immediately go use again. In fact my third time there I was out a matter of hours and already back to old ways. There is nothing about this place that offers a specialized care plan specified to individual needs. Your assigned "counselor" is nothing more than a glorified case worker whom you will meet with maybe twice if you are extremely lucky. This facility is a joke for $2,500 a day. The last time I was there I tried to leave against medical advice and my three requests were completely ignored. By law if one voluntarily signs themselves in they may leave within 72 hours max. I was held against my will for 5 extra days until I finally threatened legal action. After that within 2 hours I found myself being released. I am currently looking for a different facility to go to who WILL address my concerns and problems and to help me regain my life after all the trauma and abuse I have endured which helped lead to my substance abuse. The pictures you see make the hospital look 100 times better than what you really get. Notice how there are no pictures of the living quarters you will be confined to. There has never been a single day a fight has not broken out on various units multiple times a day. Please if you or a loved one are considering becoming a patient here I beg of you to reconsider because chances are you will leave in much worse condition than when you came. I can guarantee by the third day you will be almost to the point of suicidal just enduring the mental hell that Lakeside will drag you through. Once again I beg of you to think long and hard about your decision on admitting yourself here. This facility cares about one thing and one thing only which is the money. (I was told this by one of my treating physicians there) if I could rate this joke of a treatment center any less I most certainly would. I wouldn't send my enemy to Lakeside!!! I took my son up there, drove an hour away for help, got there, Danita, did the intake portion. My son proceeded to tell her he had homicidal thoughts in the past week, I also informed her he has stabbed someone with scissors, I also informed her that we found a knife hidden at my parents house, I also informed her that he's been talking about gangs and asked my mom to buy him a gun and how he's been in alternative school more so than regular high school. Well, I have you to know that Ms. Danita stated that a week ago wasn't current enough to admit him. I was LIVID!!!! I was there asking for help for my child and this lady had the audacity to tell me that all this wasn't current enough?!?! Not to mention she "consulted" with the "dr" over the phone in her office without me or my son present. RED FLAG!!! I let out my frustration with Danita and stated they failed my uncle too about 5 years ago, he also came there asking for help and he was turned away for it not being "current", well 2 days later my aunt found him in their room, shot himself in the head, These people DO NOT CARE!!!! So, getting my frustration out to Danita, she walks away and says loud enough that i wont be disrespectful on "her watch" well lady!!! You're not going to disrespect me either!!! POOR SERVICE!!! She did say we could come back... hahaha NOOOOO THANKS!!!! I will find a company that is willing to help him!!! So, if you go there, you better say your issues are within 24 hours or they'll turn you away too! It was terrible from arrival to departure. I'm thinking they are way under staffed. I got my girl there at 530pm for check in. It was 330am before they got her in a room. This was serious psychological issues not detoxing from dope. No one seemed have an honest answer for any question. Her psych said everything would be in order and waiting when we got there. So unfortunate for this area that this is the so called best place to go. We shall see how the actual therapy goes. Super disappointed read more

Horrible place. Traumatized me as a teen (15 years ago). Ended up here before I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I ended up with bruises on my arms from the rough treatment I experienced. I was cussed at and there was extreme racism by the black people there. They changed my answers upon writing out that I wanted to leave. Then a man was in my room while I was showering. My stuffed animal was thrown across the room. There was a girl who was bleeding from a chain link fence and the staff was laughing. She almost tried touching my stuff and only when I freaked out did they do something about it. The only way I left was when a nurse told my parents I didn't belong there and discharged me. She was a God send. Avoid this place like the plague. It's literally hell on earth. My friend told me that he had gone there and he had witnessed a rape between the staff and a patient. Lakeside saved my life. Plain and simple. I stayed in The Landing. I went twice within a month period. The first time, I had to enter through regular triage which was very scary and took forever. Once I contacted someone I had previously spoken to, they removed me from the triage and took me to The Landing. The second time, I went straight to The Landing where they were waiting on me. I've heard of people staying in triage for upwards of 12 hours. So they could definitely work on that. The staff was so, so caring. I kept my psychiatrist on the outside because I liked him so much. I then went to the outpatient facility. I learned so much. But this is where the facility as a whole loses their one star. My therapists' name was Lisa, and for some reason, she didn't like me. She released me because I had done something she didn't like on a personal level. I expressed over and over that I didn't feel ready or safe to leave. She didn't care. Every single other person, down to the kitchen staff, were the definition of hospitable. The food was excellent. I learned so much, and my team worked tirelessly until finding a treatment that worked. I am forever thankful for Lakeside, except you Lisa, and I have nothing but good things to say about the facility. I had to make sure to put the positivity for someone else who may be thinking of Lakeside. read more

Not sure about any other unit, but the child and adolescent unit (12 and under) has been PHENOMENAL for my stepson. He's been there a little over a month and they have worked so hard with him. We see a difference in him we weren't sure we would. The staff has been so caring and professional. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever read more

I called Lakeside at 10:45 pm to try to get some help for my daughter. She's very depressed and is making suicidal statements. A nurse answered the phone, asked me my name, and my telephone number. I explained the help wasn't for me it was for my daughter. I gave her all the information she asked for. My daughter is a heroine addict. She signed up for Tencare 4 weeks ago but hasn't heard back from them. This nurse was not helpful. She said they wouldn't see her unless she had $5,500 up front. I told her that we didn't have that kind of money and my daughter didn't work. She said go to an emergency room and hopefully they would bring in some mental health for her. That's it. No suicide hotline number, no suggestions on what hospital, no payment plan, no compassion whatsoever. Thanks for the human kindness Lakeside! read more

My brother was just admitted but it took almost 9 hours for my mom and i to actually be able to leave. they locked us in a waiting room and wouldn't let us leave until the assessment was made. this place was absolutely ridiculous and very unorganized. rude staff and i am genuinely worried for my brothers safety, but can't do anything about it. read more

I write this as I await an assessment for my 83-year-old mother who was cutting her wrists today in a manic state. It is 1:45 AM! We have been here for well over three hours with no action. It is beyond appalling to me that they would treat a geriatric patient in such a way. She has bad COPD and oxygen is prescribed by her normal MD, but they will not give her any because her saturation is over 90. She has been here before as have other family members but this has to be the absolute worst of all of our experiences. I was in this hospital the first time it was great, the people were good and the food was good I learned a lot and some diagnosis" were made that I didn't know about. But I wasn't given any real direction. The second time I went it was not a very pleasant experience. It was so different and they decided I needed those "shock" treatments. My husband had them stopped because they were messing with my memory. Then my husband had to go there and even though I think they may have helped him a little it did not really help him in the long run. I totally agree with every review on this page. read more

I was taken to lakeside after police picked me up . I specifically told police I was going to the hospital . That I was having a very bad reaction to a medication that threw me into a psychosis . Lakeside diagnosed me suicidal and literally kidnapped me and would not let me leave . My parents tried to get me out and because they didn't have power of attorney lakeside wouldn't even talk to them! They never called to let them know how I was doing ! They doped me up on seroquel and Depakote and never explained the process on how to get out ! The other patients stole all my clothes bullied me and all staff shooed me from the person to person when I asked how do I get the hell outta here!? I of course had insurance and they raped my insurance of all they could get and then let me out !! I was in worse mental health coming out of that place then when I went in !!! DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. They employ moron psychiatrists who will not talk to you. I was taken to this facility by police after experiencing a psychotic episode for reasons unknown to me. After coming down from my episode the doctor assigned to me did not talk to me for two days which caused me to stay in a unit with some really disturbing violent people. If the doctor had talked to me he would have known to transfer me to the other unit. It was scary. Upon discharge the hospital advised I follow up with the same doctor. Since it was very difficult finding a psychiatrist in the Memphis area in my health insurance network I had no choice. When I called the office number given by the hospital I got a recording that gives you a number to text. Now 5 months later I am still having to text this doctor who barely texts back and when he does cancels appointments when my medicine needs refills. I have no where to turn. read more

This facility should be shut down! They don't help people at all! My loved one was taken here by the police because he told his brother God told him to beat him up & starting hitting & choking him. He had been hearing voices & paranoid that people were after him. Lakeside wanted to send him home less than 24 hrs later. When we explained that he couldn't come here until he was stable ( since God told him to beat up his brother) they totally ignore what we said & stated they would just call a car to bring him to our house. So they were going to bring him here whether we wanted them to or not. I begged & threatened that they keep him & they finally did. They kept him for 2 weeks put him on a truck load of meds then called me 2 hrs before they were sending him home. I went to get him and they shoved him out the door with NOT one person telling or giving instructions on how to help him or what to do to help us prepare. I have been finding info on my own. So two weeks after discharge he had an episode (that's all I know to call it without any education from lakeside). He went ballistic on me and his brother & left the house and was jumping in front of cars. So the cops pick him up and take him to lakeside because he's unstable & suicidal. What does lakeside do, they send him home less than 24 hrs later. No phone call no communication. Whoever is in charge of this facility should be ashamed. If they are being accredited thru Joint Commission or other accreditation company they should be ashamed as well. As I'm reading all the bad reviews on all site I don't understand why something isn't being done. I'm so sad for all the patients and family who have no where to turn. Horrible experience there. I was there for 12 days and it was HELL. Some of the staff didn't care when I had panic attacks, if any of us did anything remotely wrong we had to do write offs. One girl (I witnessed the attempted suicide aftermath) was forced to do write offs the day after she slit her throat. One time when we were in the community room and the other teens were being loud, the weekend nurse or whatever he was (I think that's what it was, forgive me, this was in 2014) forced us to either go to our rooms and miss dinner or stay in that room and listen to "The Song That Never Ends" for 5 or 10 minutes just to eat dinner. If I would have known those two things were forms of abuse I would have never gave them a semi decent review at the end (I only did that because in my mind they were going to keep me there for longer. I was scared. If I could redo that survey, they would have gotten a terrible review from me.) They never seemed to care about our problems, only my given therapist and doctor did. Awful awful place in my opinion. I was diagnosed with PTSD by my psychologist a few months ago because of this place and am in decent therapy. read more

I walked into this place to inquire about their outpatient program for depression. Immediately upon entering the first set of doors you are locked in and cannot exit on your own. After going to the front desk to check in you are told no cell phone is allowed and you are instructed to shut it off. Next someone will come get you and take you to a secondary waiting room. At this time they take your belongings from you and put them with the receptionist. After that someone will come get you and ask you a few questions before taking you to a holding cell to wait for a nurse and then the accessor. 3 hours went by and my accessor still hadn't come to my room. I was informed they were short staffed. The facility smelled like garlic and mold. The lighting was awful fluorescent. And the furniture was old with writing on it and was bolted down to the floor. There was no clock on the wall so you have no idea what time it is. The only reason I knew was because I asked someone who worked there. I ended up being stuck there for 5 hours before being released. I told them I checked myself in and I wanted to check myself out. They would not let me and they held me against my will. The staff was rude and nobody would help me. They talked down to me, especially the nurse but also my accessor. The people that work here know that you are powerless and at their mercy and they abuse their position. This was completely demoralizing and traumatizing. Do not go here if you are seeking help for yourself. This place is straight out of a horror movie! read more

i was a patient in 2008 for 10 days. There are no words to describe the unclean place, unsavory food or the inadequate program. i had a panic attack at a drs office in Germantown and the drs office misread my intentions, called the police and I was taken to Lakeside and locked up.Sleep deprivation caused my panic attack. Instead of allowing me to sleep and rest I had to fit into the program- up early and on the go from one inane "therapeutic" session to another, designed for those with akcohol or drug addictions. iI surprised everyone when my drug test was negative. i had never had a drop of alcohol in my life and rarely an aspirin. I was told I would be taken " downtown" to a Judge and never get out if I did not rake the antidepressant sone "doctor"- maybe I only saw him for about 2 minutes at whatevee intervals they have to see patients in order to get paid. i was also told that i would never get out unless I ate and my blood oressure returned to normal. i was scared and it spiked when they took my Bp, This " doctor" person said I HAD to take the meds- one tablet- a mild antidepressant. My insurance authorized 10 days of treatment. I was afraid Lakeside would request another 10 days and I would be locked up indefinitely. The day I left I took the lLAST pill I took. The "doctor" made me oromise him I would take them. I agreed akthough I knew I would not. My body chemistry is weird and I have ohysical and emotional symptoms even from an antibiotic. I am not saying I was not mentally ill. I was and still struggle occasionally with panic attscks. No one there addressed ways I could learn to de-stress and alleviate attacks. The sessions were all about alcohol and drug rehab issues. I was assigned a room with 2 other ladies.Both of them told me they were prostitutes and their constant chatter tevolved around what drugs they were going to ask their doctors for. They knew all the doctors and ALL the drugs and it became apparent to me that they faked illnesses ir irder to get drugs and Lakeside was a revolving door for drug addicts read more

Lakeside is only interested in two things: your money and their power. In terms of money, they set up a "treatment" plan for my minor son that was designed for only one thing -- to milk my insurance company. In terms of power, when we complained about them milking a minor problem for money they shut us (the parents of a minor) out of the process completely. I didn't realize it was possible, but when we consented to in-patient treatment then Lakeside had the authority to stop consulting us and just do whatever they wanted. Only after we were on the eve of legal action to stop their unethical and abusive practices did they relent. Miraculously, our minor son was "cured" by Lakeside rather than go court. read more

I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF IT WERE POSSIBLE.Oh, where do I begin. I was at Lakeside over Christmas for depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. This place is the worst place you can be if you are suffering from any mental illness. It did not help me, the highlight of my day was going to sleep so that I could get out of that hell hole faster. Let's just give you a rundown of what happens here. I go in and it's around 12 and I think I'm going to finally get the help I needed, but within hours I learn I was wrong, SO WRONG!So as soon as I get there it is lunch time. So we go to lunch, I have never seen any food such as this. The food was disgusting, undercooked, and unappetizing. It was worse than any school lunch. The place was disgusting, the pickles looked disgusted and tasted even worse and the "boiled eggs" were literally undercooked, like how is that even possible. Because the food was so disgusting and nasty I didn't eat the whole time I was there and even lost 5 pounds. They basically don't let you have water either, practically the only water you get is from meals and you aren't allowed to bring it out of the cafeteria, and there was a water fountain that you could go to, but who wants to get up everytime they want water. Also, you have to stick your head outside of the door of your room if you need anything including water and you have to wait for the nurse to acknowledge you which took up to 5 minutes most of the time. Next is nighttime. We were supposed to get an hour of television before we go to sleep and it was always cut to maybe 30 minutes because the younger kids were in there all day and got it at night. So you go to sleep and what do I notice there is Human hair all over my sheets and in the sink, Everywhere it was disgusting it looked like they just gave me someone else's dirty sheets. When you take a shower it is disgusting, and you only get body soap, not even a 3 in 1 which I figured it would be a 3 in1 so I used it in my hair and it took me an hour to get all the knots out off my hair. I finally go to sleep and I am so sad I don't want to be here. I wake up the next morning and they have to take my blood and do some blood work or something. and they took so much blood and because I hadn't been eating I told them I felt dizzy and they just ignored me and I threw up in my hand and blacked out because my blood sugar was so low from not eating. This is when I realized this place wasn't going to help me, every night I was in there I would cry myself to sleep because I just wanted to get out so bad! On Christmas eve it was the worst it got, I felt so low, I sat in the disgusting shower because I just didn't care anymore and balled my eyes out and prayed to god that he would let me out of that shit hole I knew it wasn't going to help, it was the worst and lowest I have ever felt. My roommate asked if I was ok and I said yes because I knew if I said no I would be in there longer. Noone GETS HELPED HERE, EVERYONE JUST LIES SO THEY CAN GET OUT OF THAT HELL HOLE. Oh yeah, they don't care if your roommate gets physical, my roommate started punching the wall and I got freaked out so I told the front desk hoping I would get moved into a different room and they didn't care they just said ok go back.the third day I was there it was a visitation day so my family came I hated it so much I couldn't hold back my tears but I was crying too because I didn't want the nurses to see me cry or they would keep me in there longer. They kept us in the room for hours at a time several times in the day. I never met my therapist or my doctor. They just wanted my money I was able to go a day before they let me out. Today I am still affected by being in there. I'm pretty sure I have PTSD when I see tiles I freak out when someone says discharged, I freak out and, when I'm in a small room for hours I cry and or freakout. If you have a loved​ one who has depression etc. DONT SEND THEM TO LAKESIDE, they will not receive help, and most likely will be permanently damaged and worse from the injustices. And trust me I​ tried to escape but there are so many locks you would have to steal the keys. read more

Lakeside Hospital is a complete joke. My daughter was admitted there for 5 days and the care she got was horrendous. Her therapist did not know how to talk to her or help her. She was moved to a floor where the "dangerous" girls are for yelling at a nurse or aid and her therapist wasn't notified and neither were her parents. I called to check on her and her therapist had no clue where she was on that property. He was the one person assigned to take care of her. When she was discharged, the staff at Lakeside lied to her and told her that her parents were waiting on her in the lobby. Totally freaked her out. The nurses and staff don't give a damn about the kids...they are mean to them, yell at them and talk to them as if they are nothing. The employees are there to collect a paycheck. The fees they charge for the horrific care they provide is criminal. Please please if you are reading this review and considering lakeside for your teenager, go somewhere else. Don't put your child through one day there. read more
