The ambience of this lakeside restaurant was outstanding. Service was excellent with our server checking with us at appropriate times to verify that everything was okay. Nice ambiance very cozy. Location is perfect with lake view. Waiter is Ryan, friendly and efficient. We ordered Moroccan soup and Nashville chicken as appetizers. Both are very good. Teriyaki chicken bowl is so so, burger is great, so are the Parmesan chicken, butter chicken, and short rib. A bit on the pricey side but it's to be expected in a National park that only opens a few months in a year. Can't beat the views! The patio is right next to the lake and it's so pretty on a sunny day. It wasn't busy during lunch hour on a weekday, service was excellent but a bit slow. Food was delightful and tasty! Fish and chips were really crispy and oily, missing a bit of salt in the fries but yum! Butter chicken was really good too, nothing to say there! Average food and very subpar service. We came in a large group but had a long standing reservation. The waiter was decidedly unfriendly, repeatedly simply dropped plates onto the table and walked away, and gave the impression that he would rather have been anywhere else. I had the petit filet and if that was actually a tenderloin, it was the first one that I have ever seen that looked that way. The salmon came out borderline cold and it all went downhill from there. My wife and I stayed at the Kilmoray Lodge which was a great hotel, rooms are great and are clean. We were going to eat dinner there as well but in the end we decided on the Lakeside Chophouse. Tracy and Morgan were very attentive and provided great service and conversation. We both decided on the braised short ribs and they are TO DIE FOR!! So tender you could cut them with a fork, moist and flavourful, some the best we have ever had! Don't hesitate to eat at the Chophouse and we recommend the short ribs but I'm willing to bet everything else is fantastic as well. read more

We stopped at the Lakeside Chophouse for dinner on Sunday afternoon. While all the tables on the patio with umbrellas were occupied, we were seated at a table with partial shade from the building. Within 20 minutes of being seated our table was mostly shaded and the sun was beating down on the umbrella tables from a Westerly angle. Being lakeside, the water and mountain views were magnificent. The food? Well, magnificent, as well. I had the Braised Short Ribs and my wife the Kung Pao Bowl with Chicken. The portions were huge. Boxes transported Sunday supper. The food was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Having had some CIA training, I am a tough critic of food prep and seasoning and these meals were second to none. While the prices seemed high, the portion sizes made them quite reasonable. The service was spot on. Definitely a gem in Waterton village. read more

She photographed us as well as entertained us with her conversation about life in the hospitality industry in Waterton. All the while, she kept our table cleared and our coffee cups filled with hot coffee. Not a bad place to eat! One of the fancier restaurants in town. We dined here on a Sunday night and it was bustling with people but not overly busy. Service was friendly and quick, menu had many delicious options to choose from and everyone's food around us looked amazing! My friend and I both had the top sirloin and it was done to perfection (medium rare) however the cut wasn't the best considering the price. And $8 for a side of mushrooms seems steep. But, you're in a small tourist town... so expectations weren't all that high. Very nice view from the restaurant. We were all satisfied with our dishes; not amazing, but nothing much worth complaining about. Would eat here again. read more

The wine list has a fair selection from all over the world. The menu is very diverse, spanning Italian to Indian to steak. The Kobe meatballs and spaghetti is tasty but the meatballs are bland. The bison ribeye is a thin cut, very lean but tasty. The butter chicken, one of my favorite Indian dishes, was amazing!! Better than one of my favorite restaurants at home. Great job! The steak had a lot of gristle and even a hint of tendon. Maybe a better grade of meat next time?? The garlic mashed potatoes were really good. Service was excellent, the place was really modern and clean, but that doesn't make a low grade of steak become Prime. For that reason I can only give 3 stars. read more

Started with a nice lunch, and ended up going back for dinner on two different occasions. I had a a tasty salmon sandwich and my wife had a Cajun chicken sandwich. Both were good and the generous serving if fries were delicious. The side salad was very nice. We went back for dinner twice, having stir fried shrimp (it was ok) steak au poivre (tasty, cooked perfectly, but barely a choice cut of meat) salmon and ling cod (both very tasty, but both over cooked). Deserts were awesome: a chocolate cake to die for and Saskatoon berry pie. Service was very attentive and the setting, overlooking the lake was just perfect. read more

You can't have a better view while dining in Waterton (except from the Prince of Wales hotel). We were able to snag an outside table on the Friday of a holiday weekend without a reservation. Why people didn't want to sit outside baffled us given it was reasonably warm out. The fish and chips were solid - the chips were actually quite good. This place has a gorgeous view. It is the only restaurant on the water. However, it leaves a lot to be desired. First, we ate outside at approximately 1:30 PM. The outside tables were full. There was absolutely no one seated on the inside of the restaurant. It took 15 minutes to get menus. We gave the server our drink orders. This time it was 20 minutes before we got my iced tea and his beer. Already, we're over 30 minutes. Then it's another 15 minutes before our order gets taken. He had a sandwich and I had the poke bowl. Both were excellent. But guess what?? How long does it take to fix this when no new customers are coming in and you have none on the inside?? It's another 50 minutes at least before we get our food. We keep asking and Michael (we think that was his name keeps saying it will be right out. So we eat and enjoy the view and the food but are frustrated as we had other places we wanted to stop. We're done. And we're waiting. We get our bill and we're waiting. Another 20 minutes before we finally get up and leave. So, who comes racing over within a minute?? Michael! It was an awful experience and even the gorgeous view would not be enough to convince us to go back there. Someone needs some server training. read more

Be aware for bill scams! Terrible experience. We were traveling to Waterton from Glacier NP in the states and stopped by to eat at one of the few places still open at the end of the season. The wait staff was poor, we sat inside but continually had flies and bees bothering us as we were dining. The food was average and a bit overpriced. Worst part was that restaurant gives only a 110 to 100 exchange rate between Canadian and US dollars and doesn't post that anywhere visible. We asked our waiter to verify the price in US and Canadian and if paying cash was okay, but then when I got my change back it was far less than I expected. I asked for my money back and then paid by AMEX to avoid the steep rate. If you want to soak me because I'm a Yank and all, fine but at least make I'm informed to the exchange rate before i pay. read more

This is a followup to my previous review of the Bayshore Inn, where I unfortunately stayed during summer vacation. One star is for the lack of customer service and lackadaisical attitude of employee at both locations. When I called the front desk to make me dinner reservations, they suggested the wine bar that is affiliated with this property and told me that I don't need reservations. We wandered over there only to find that the "Chophouse" restaurant is where dinner is actually served and you do need a reservation for that. For those that don't know, the hotel, wine bar, and restaurant are all connected in one large unit. The owner responded on my previous review "I am sorry that when you called the front desk they told you that you didn't need reservations for the wine bar, but to their defense , the wine bar does not take reservations so they did answer your question correctly." I DID NOT WANT A RESERVATION FOR THE WINE BAR, I WANTED TO DINNER. I was very clear about that, and I did not even know there was a wine bar until the front desk suggested it. After the fact, I sincerely felt that the receptionist was just too lazy to make us a reservation. When we arrived at the wine bar, we were told that we needed a reservation at the "Chophouse" to eat dinner. After identifying the front desk of the restaurant, we continued to wait for over ten minutes before being greeted, despite the fact that several hosts were just standing around at the desk. One of the hostesses was dressed in an extremely tight and skimpy and torn black dress that you'd expect to see on a street walker. The owner seems to think it is unfair to say this, but I honestly don't know any other way to describe what one looks like when they wear a dress several sizes too small that is fraying at the seems. Her look reminded me of Anna Nicole circa 2006 (remember that bizarre clown makeup trend?). Eventually a gentleman who appeared to be a manager roamed over and appeared surprised that we hadn't been helped with all of the hosts still standing around. He was the only person that seemed to be aware of his surroundings (and have any customer service skills) and promptly had us seated. We had bison sliders and a bison reuben on a gluten free bun. Our server, Natasha, was a little odd and seemed surprised that we requested med-rare cook temp. Apparently at the Chophouse, everything is prepared to a charred extra well done. Service is extremely slow. Food was okay. Drinks remind you of something you'd see on a chain restaurant happy hour menu, full of artificial food color (reminded me of kool-aid). The panacotta was gluten free and easily the best part of the whole deal. Only other positive is that we got a dinner discount for being hotel guests, but I wouldn't suggest coming here even if you get the discount. read more

The small piece of chicken was accompanied by a few small extras (e.g., a small salad and a dab of mediocre mashed potatoes). The chicken was small and not very tasty. In fact, it appeared as if the chicken had been frozen for a while. I ordered water (and did not order any alcoholic beverages). The restaurant felt cramped and the interior noise was loud. I did not have a view of anything. However, the waitstaff was attentive and polite. After dining at the Lakeside Chophouse, I was still very hungry. So, I purchased a delicious turkey sandwich from a Subway shop near the main street and enjoyed eating the turkey sandwich in my Bayshore Inn room. The Subway turkey sandwich was much better than my meal at the Lakeside Chophouse. Overall, I was not impressed with my dinner meal at the Bayshore Inn Chophouse restaurant. It was mediocre. I also feel that my meal was overpriced for such a small dinner meal. Very disappointing. read more
