I am from Pittsburgh and was traveling to Cherry Hill, NJ for an event and our dog could not stay with us in our hotel. I scrambled to find boarding in Pittsburgh and nothing was available. I decided to look at options in the NJ/Philadelphia area. I have never boarded my pup before and was very nervous about it, for multiple reasons. 1) I don't think it's ever easy for anyone to leave their fur baby, 2) our pitbull is leash reactive and barks at other dogs on a leash- we are actively getting him training, but it's something he is still working on. I was nervous to take him to a boarding place in fear that they wouldn't be understanding with my dog. I heavily researched boarding options in NJ/Philly and found Lakeside. I inquired on their website about the dates I needed boarding and heard back quickly that those dates were available. I gave them a call and they were SO kind and answered all of my questions and expressed an understanding about my pup and his behavior- they said something along the lines of "we are very used to barking dogs- it's not something we are worried about at all", which made me feel relieved. Our pup, Axel, doesn't bark at dogs unless they are on a leash, but I was still worried. We had to leave a deposit in order to reserve our stay, which was no problem. Dropping him off was a breeze. I just called and let them know I was here and we took him to the drop-off/pick-up area. I gave them Axel's prepacked food, his blanket, and some toys. They encouraged us to give them a call whenever we wanted to check-in on him and they let us know they would post on Facebook the next day with some photos. Keep in mind... this was my first time dropping off my pup at a boarding place. So I was nervous. I called MULTIPLE times, and they NEVER made me feel bad about calling and always took the time to go check on him and give me the most up-to-date information on how he was doing. This eased my mind so much. I love that this kennel offers the pup their own outdoor spot, in addition to their indoor space. I also love that they offer one-on-one time with staff for an additional charge. Axel is a rescue dog and he spent a lot of time in a kennel situation in the past- so I wanted to make sure he got some one-on-one lovin' and attention. I was able to schedule Axel to get 3 walks with staff over the weekend, which I am sure he loved. Picking him up was a breeze and Axel clearly had relaxed a lot since his initial arrival- he was jumping all over the staff, giving them kisses- he clearly loved them :) The prices here are SUPER reasonable. It was under $100 for two nights and multiple walks. I am so glad we went with Lakeside :) If I find myself needing boarding in NJ again, I know exactly where I will go! read more

We board our precious kitty cat Alfie here and he always is well taken care of and comes back home happy! Staff is friendly and patient, facility and grounds always are clean and they're open 7 days a week. Even when we move further away, we will keep going to Lakeside for our boarding needs. We'll always miss Alfie poo when he's away, but always know that he's in good loving hands during that tough period of feline absence. read more

Very happy that I found this place after researching kennels in south jersey. They took good care of your pup and for a reasonable price.

I've used Lakeside Pet resort a few times now and I've never had a bad experience with them. It's always hard to leave your fur baby even if it's for a few days. The first time I called they told me I was welcome to come by and see the establishment, so I did. It's always clean and there's always someone there to help you out. I board a cat so I can't speak to what the experience is boarding a dog. Their daily rate is reasonable and they supply litter and food. I still bring his wet food but have no problem with their dry food that's supplied. The kitty "condos" they have are tall and pretty spacious with room for them to climb and walk around. They have a play room they put the cats in too that's separate from the condos. The people at Lakeside really seem to care about your pet. They're always very welcoming and excited to see them. My cats always come back in good health and happy! read more

Grooming was OK. But the problem is my 10-yr old cats never had fleas. But they both came back from the grooming with fleas. One of them got very sick from the flea bites. It cost me $900 in emergency treatment Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. One of my cats is still sick. Never going back to Lakeside kennel again!! It is simply a dangerous place for pets. read more

I never sent an an animal to a kennel before and with the experience I had with this place I will never again. When I returned home after my cat was at the "resort" for 6 days she seem a bit odd. She was walking funny and looked like she lost weight. We thought maybe she was stress from being away from home. Soon after we had to take her to the vet and she ended up having to be put down. While she was at the vet we call Lakeside to see if there was anything weird that happened while our cat was there. We talked the owner and she seemed concerned. She stated she would call back after she talk to her staff and reviewed the note card for the week. Days go by and we received no call. I was very upset that the owner was wouldn't call back. I called back and had to leave a message as no one would answer the phone after multiple attempts. We received a call back from the owner stating she already told us what she knew and never stated she would call back. She went on to say there was nothing weird about our cats stay and that the other owner is a lawyer. Neither my self or my husband stated anything about suing them but she decided to be rude and inform us that they have a lawyer on hand. We have no idea what happen to our cat while she was there but there seemed to be some sloppiness with the way this place is ran. I can't believe that a cat can look as sick as she did and not have been noticed but the staff. She didn't look like she'd ate most of the week. Do not take your cat or dog there. They obviously do not care for the animals they are given to take care of. My animal had to be put down after thousands of dollars sent to save her and they had the nerve to not call back. This is a prim example of a uncaring business. read more

My dog is a large-breed rescue who is reactive to other dogs and people who he does not know. He has been groomed and boarded at Lakeside since he was a puppy and does very well. He zooms to the door without hesitation and barks ready to start his visit. Lyz has been his buddy since day one. She and the staff understand his quirks and work with him. Rosie is the only person on the planet that can dremel or cut his nails. The staff is magical and they work VERY hard at keeping our dogs safe and healthy. They have large yards for the dogs to play and run-or his case sniff and safe socialization through the fence. You can see a photo of your pet each day on Facebook while you're away. We are grateful that they work with us and our rescue dog without judgement and with great understanding. Lakeside has been a wonderful resource for us from the start. read more

I take my dogs here often as I like to travel. The staff here are great and I never worry about anything happening to my dogs. They staff are great when I call to check in on the dogs. They even do great with my one dog who is a bite risk. They provide good quality food if you don't want to bring your own. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have been using the kennel for years. I have two dogs, My youngest dog is 3 years old. The times I have dropped off both dogs for boarding I have been charged $45.00 for the dogs to be boarded together. Then there was an Additional 5.00 fee each for their walk/ exercise each day and a grooming charge if I chose. The last time I boarded them my daughter dropped the dogs off for me and she was asked if they were going into separate kennels and she answered yes. She told me they were in their own kennel and I said it's ok it's just for 2 days so that's not a big deal. That cost more than what I usually paid when I picked them up but I expected it because of the change in kennel quantities. This time around We went on vacation for 9 days. I reserved the time for them to be in the same kennel expecting to pay the same 45.00 per day I always paid before And the additional ten dollars per day for exercise. Lakeside does not accept credit cards or debit cards so I pay in cash. When I arrived 9 days later she tells me my bill is over 800.00. I had 550 on me because I also got them groomed. I questioned the charges and she gave me completely different boarding costs than I paid every time before. Long story short she said they are under new management because the old management was questionable. Great. Well... No one went over pricing with me so how would I know it changed? She pulled up the records of last time I dropped the dogs off and said I paid the higher pricing back in April. I said yes, i paid a higher price because my daughter dropped them off and said they were in separate kennels . But, really when I reserved the time when I called I had told the girl the same kennel, but whatever that's a different story. The girl told me she would have the owner call me so I could discuss it my complaint. The owner called and said the old management use to give discounts to some people for tips. I said if you are implying I got a discount because we were doing something shady you are wrong. I never tipped anyone and every time I came I was charged 45.00 per day for years. I explained no one at the time off drop off told me pricing or went over pricing with me. If I wou,d have known it would cost so much I would have made other arrangements, For a place that does not accept credit cards you'd think they would go over pricing so when you pick up you know how much money to bring. When I said this to the owner she responded there are brochures all around with pricing. But, in my defense if I paid the same price for years why would I expect anything differently? Why not have signs up that you cant miss? I could have easily found a number of people to dog sit for 400 a week and I will do exactly that next time we go on vacation. Poor customer service and communication. Apparently it only costs 7.00 less each day to board the dogs separately? Imagine going to a hotel and getting one room with two beds for only 7.00 less than 2 rooms? Yeah that makes sense. read more

I worked here for a week and unfortunately I had to leave due to personal reasons. Since I am not currently working here anymore I feel that it is acceptable for me to leave a review. Working here I got to see the inner workings of this place and not just what everyone else sees and I have to say it is just as great behind the scenes as it appears up front. The cages are always clean and the animals are very well taken care of fed properly cared for with the ut most respect and are always properly handled. You can absolutely trust your pets in the hands of this kennel because I can guarantee you will not find a place that will treat your pets better. I personally did and helped with all of the customers requests how and when they wanted them and that is saying something. It is good to know that when you have special requests are willing to pay for them that they are actually done and not just brushed under the rug. read more

We discovered Lakeside in 2006 when we needed to board our rambunctious Newfie for a long weekend. Almost 7 years later we've never gone elsewhere and after trying a few groomers close by (we live in Philly) we make the trek out to Voorhees every 4-6 weeks for her "spa day" (and our mall day). I would never go to another kennel besides lakeside kennel, they are all so nice there that they even let me board my 3 fishes. Aspen who works the front desk is always so up beat and cheerful that is always makes me feel good to leave my pets there. Chelsea who works the back is so good with the animals, she loves to play with them and make them feel at home. Bonnie the manager always remembers everyone and makes me feel like family when I go there since she remembers me and my pets like we saw her everyday. Elisangla is the only groomer i would ever that my dog and cat too!!! she has won so many 1st place awards for grooming i dont even have to tell her what i want done she just knows what is best for the animals. I have been using Lakeside for YEARS and let me start off by saying I have two special needs dogs. One needs to be kept on a VERY strict diet and be on different medications and the other requires insulin and isn't to keen on getting a needle. I was leery leaving my pets with ANYONE let alone a kennel. From the moment I dropped off I felt comfortable. The asked me a bunch of questions about my dogs and one is finicky around the head area and the gentleman taking her back was very patient with her which I appreciated greatly. Once they were back there we discussed vets, phone numbers and I was going out of the country for two weeks so I left numbers they would be able to contact. I even had a few quirky requests which they were more than accommodating to. During my trip I was able to keep in contact through facebook where I was sent pictures and videos and was given a thorough report card on how they were doing. I was expecting to be told they were doing "good" and they were "happy" but I got so much more. They told me some of the quirks my dogs do which showed they really KNEW my dogs. Upon returning I was more than pleased. The bill was more than reasonable and they were sure to return all of our belongings and extra medications and extra food. I was greeted by two VERY happy dogs. I was concerned after two weeks they would have either gained or lost a significant amount of weight but they were exactly as I had dropped them off. Both dogs seemed extremely comfortable and I will NEVER board anywhere else. read more
