This was a really fun and tasty spot. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The ambiance is like a clean dive bar meets an adult summer camp. It's low key and fun. Staff was excellent!. Food was good. Nice view sitting on the covered porch. Really Enjoyed the clam chowder which had dill. Halibut, shrimp and spicy sauce were great, especially the sauce. Beer was ok. Had the draft amber which was little bland. The darker beer was better. read more

The service was good at Lakeside, the food was OK for bar food. I ordered the Fish & Chips, they were nothing special. The batter on the fish was good but I enjoyed the fries better. The food did come out hot. The view at Lakeside is amazing, hence the name. I would suggest going for an ice cold beer, chilling outside and enjoying a beautiful Montana Summer sunset. read more

We stopped by Lakeside over Memorial Day weekend for some beers and nibbles. Took a little bit to get our beers after we sat but things turned better after more waitstaff covered the floor. Their wings are AMAZING. They definitely bread them and fry and the Buffalo sauce has some kick! Definitely grab the ranch dressing too. Food is ok, drinks are expensive, service is not good. The one redeeming quality about this place is its close to the lake. Hadn't been in a long time and went back a few times this past july/august. Food is subpar--basically fresh off the Sysco truck to your plate; Little creativity or effort. Service leaves something to be desired--not very friendly or attentive. This place embodies lake life and if that's your vibe, you're going to be hard pressed to find a better venue in the area. Food is decent but the focus isnt on dining, as you'll see with the limited menu and non-bar seating options. Weekends can make it tough to get service when you want it. Mixed drinks are meh but you're not going here for the food or cocktails but the location and vibe. You're going for a cold drink and to party by the lake. read more

Went for St. Patrick's Day. First time here. Liked the fact they contracted a party bus to bring people in from Helena and East Helena. Bus is super fun. Menu is a little small but still good enough for a bar. Service was meh, took forever to flag down a waitress and music was so loud we had to write our order down for her because she could not hear us 6" away. We got burgers and they were super good, like really surprisingly good. Fries were great....hot, skinny and not too salty. Loved the live music. However, since it was cold outside everybody stayed inside and the band was SO loud you couldn't talk to anybody....which is the exact reason we went there, to meet new people. This place was pretty busy already but I have to imagine it will be rocking during the summer where you can hang out by the great looking beach and in the big backyard. They have horseshoe pits and a nice fire pit outside. We will try this place again when it is warmer. read more

I can tell you that this place is one of my favorite places to go to in the Summer. They serve 'bar food' which to me means greasy burger, fries, chili etc. My husband loves their wings, I'm a fan of the chili and my son digs their burger. This is not gourmet food place. It is a 'have a drink, enjoy the music, fill your stomach and enjoy the view'. I hesitate giving this a 5 star only because I want it to be my 'secret' cool places to hang out in Helena. read more

SO AWFUL!!! I had heard stories that Lakeside was not what it once was but, my wife and I had to find out for ourselves. The service was awful, no menus, no napkins, $6 for a basket of stale potato chips and some mediocre dip in plastic cups. Just don't go. I was at lakeside on July 3, 2013 and dealt with the rudest bartender I've ever encountered. He was un-professional, rude, and sarcastic. As a fellow business owner myself a person like this is bad for business. I hope management can restrain this person from doing any more harm to the reputation of Lakeside on Hauser Lake. This is a place where my parents and myself have frequented for years. The individual was working at approximately 10PM on July 3rd and had a beard. Thankfully the other bartender was a nice professional gal. Nice atmosphere, okay food, prices reasonable, indoor bathrooms never operational and are usually occupied and a bit on the nasty side. Update 10/5/12 By the end of the summer many of the female bartenders quit because of bad management. It was the only place in town with dudes working out there. I guess some of the bouncers there were not conducting themselves in a professional manner. We ended up getting dinner out there during one of the last days on the patio. We drove the boat over there and ordered Calamari, nachos, and chicken strips among several food items. I was literally given a single handful of fries with my three small chicken strips. I think it was 12$. The calamari was an absolute joke. The nachos didn't even come with enough toppings for all the stale chips. Did the cook quit too? read more

4*'S for being right on Hauser Lake. Sitting on the deck and wading in the lake after a hot hike was nice. My fresh grapefruit juice and tequila was wonderful. So glad the nice young server suggested it. We had the onion jalapeño dip with chips was good but not fantastic. I would've loved to have tried the Poutine but I'm gluten free. My Big Salad with grilled chicken was good too...nice fresh crispy lettuce with diced tomatoes, cucumbers. My husband's piece of cod was huge, he couldn't even finish it. It definitely is a bar atmosphere and very casual, very relaxed. We've been here before for their Summer Camp which was a blast too. read more

I was at lakeside bar for a nice evening out. I witnessed the owner of the bar berate another patron for following the instructions of the bartender. Instead of taking issue with the bartender for giving poor instructions, she (the bar owner) decided to use language that would make a truck driver blush with someone spending money at the bar. Like the berated customer, I will never go back to such a place. I found the service lacking at best and the actions of the owner beyond offensive. Our meal was ok, but when we received our bill the alcohol bill was more than our meals. We ordered tall gin and tonics and were charged $9.00 a drink. We were told it was because 2 shots of gin were in each drink. Beware, make sure you say single shot. $9.00 is outrageous for a well drink in Montana. We weren't even given a choice of gin.
