Went there for inspection and flush radiator and replace radiator fluid. And oil change. When I paid the bill, I realized they billed me 2 times for a radiator flush. I brought to owner Chris attention, he apolozed and refunded me $85. Cash, approx 6 weeks later, the car over heated. The radiator fluid was empty. Lakeside shell never put new radiator coolant in the car. They charge for work that did do not perform. There was no windshield washer fluid. As a result, I almost lost my engine. Charged for work and never put in new radiator fluid. Car thermostat light came on. Radiator Fluid was empty and car overheated. Beware, they might overcharge or charge for work they do not perform. Mechanic never even checked the radiator fluid, it was empty for 2 months. I am lucky the engine did not get destroyed. read more

My husband was at Acme on Broad St. Got in the car to leave. DEAD battery. Well ,that is not something we ever had a car do. So he calls AAA & tells them Lakeside is down the road. Calls me due to being a man and they do not wait..LOL. I get in truck drive to Shell gas, called Lakeside Auto Service. (we only use) I walk in and explain before I could finish. The owner happened to walk out of the office. Stopped me asked where hubby was. He took off and went to help. He had a little unit started the car and Hubby went directly to Lakeside auto no hesitation. WE had a new battery as requested "it was needed we knew that." I head home make dinner. Hubby arrives approximately hour latter . and had dinner. I would recommend Lakeside Auto Service & SHELL gas also, we always used decades back AMOCO. The station went to some goofy name gas. I researched and SHELL was the one with White Gas and became our only gas. AND Lakeside our ONLY Station, Service & Gas. My Dogs love it there too.. It's not a fancy place, so if you're of the BMW/Mercedes- jet-set wanna-be type it isn't a place for you. Go sip lattes in some dealership and get charged double or triple of what a job should cost. It's a good ol' blue collar neighborhood auto repair shop. They get the job done at a fair price. They do not nickel and dime you and try to upsell you like the dealerships do. There have been times where I thought I needed a part and they turned me away with no charge. A dealership service department would have pounced on the opportunity to make a buck. What I've found with auto repair in general is that sometimes you can ask 3 different shops for an estimate for the same job and get 3 different answers. Well I can say that no matter what, if I take my car to Lakeside I know I can trust that they are looking out for me. Of course it is a business and must make money, but they also know the value of getting customers to keep coming back. I called AAA to have my car towed, and the man who came from Lakeside Towing was incredibly offensive. He was cursing inappropriately, informed me that my car is the ugliest make/model on the road, and laughed and pointed openly at a person walking down the street who appeared to be mentally disabled. I will NOT be using Lakeside ever again, and I sincerely hope that he loses his job. It was completely inappropriate behavior for any employee dealing with a customer, not to mention unacceptable behavior for any decent human being. read more

On July 4, 2016 there was a large utility body truck broken down on Lakeside Blvd., directly across from the side entrance of the Lakeside Shell. The truck was completely blocking the one lane of track turning on to Lakeside from South Broad Street and could have EASILY caused a very serious accident. My husband happened upon this scene while trying to do exactly that. He stopped and, while speaking to the gentleman who had been driving the truck, came to find out the truck had been in the roadway for quite some time and that he had asked the two tow truck drivers at the Shell station (who were standing outside watching the entire scene) for help moving the truck out of the middle of the road. The gentleman who owned the truck (who, by the way, was of middle Eastern descent) told my husband that they refused to help him and just continued to watch the truck sit in the road, impeding traffic and causing a hazard. One of the tow drivers stated that, "my truck isn't heavy enough to move that." My husband, after offering a few choice words to the two ignorant drivers, proceeded to hook the disabled vehicle up to his own truck (a standard pickup) and pull it all of 20 feet out of the way of oncoming traffic. I fail to understand how his truck was able to move it and yet the tow drivers claimed they could not. I hope Dick and Chris (who was there during a portion of this incident) are proud of their employees and their lack of common decency. My husband's family has lived literally 1,000 feet from and patronized this station for 30 years (despite the fact that one of their drivers, while driving WELL above the posted speed limit of 25 on Lakeside Blvd. also hit and killed his sister's dog in front of her 3 young children a few years ago) but we NEVER will again and it is my sincere hope that no one else will, either. According to my husband, the entire scene looked like not only pure ignorance but racism, as well. Oh, and the gentleman with the disabled vehicle offered my husband money for helping him (which he refused) and apparently had plenty of cash and was willing to pay for any help he could get. The absolute worst auto shop I've ever been to! Called AAA and this is where they recommended I have my car sent (which seriously makes me question AAA competency). They charged me $150 to have my alarm system removed (which I found out after was completely unnecessary) and their idea of fixing my battery issues was screwing a bolt into it and calling it a day. Needless to say my car broke down again two days after they "fixed it." They are the biggest group of scam artists and frankly I wouldn't trust them to change a headlight, let alone anything else that might be wrong with your vehicle.
