I went to him for a simple cavity in a molar tooth. His assistant encouraged me to take a new drug…read morethey were using called Septocaine. She said it worked much quicker than Novocaine and would also wear off quickly. With Dr. Woodruff present, he encouraged me as well. So I agreed. Biggest mistake of my life!!! He injected me, but I didn't become fully numb. He has an annoying quirky habit of whistling, before and during working on you. Then he injected more. Then he injected even more. He drilled on me and I could still feel it. What happen next was even worse. When I went home, I stood numb for over 8 hours and then the pain started in my jaw bone and cheek/ face like I couldn't believe. I wondered why I had pain at all, since filling a cavity stops any pain you might have had prior. I took aspirin, but it wouldn't touch it. For the next few days I was in complete tormenting pain, far more than I ever had before going in and couldn't understand why. I called his office and having no respect or concern for me, he said brashly to come and pick up prescriptions for antibiotics and codeine, even though I did not have an infection at all. He acted like I was a pain and a peon. He talks down to his patients and acts like a know-it-all. The pain I suffered was unbearable and unending- never letting up once. Day after day, week after week, there was massive, intense pain in my jaw, face and cheek that wouldn't stop or ease up. It was similar to being hit with a baseball bat, only ten times worse. I looked online and read the horror stories about this drug Septocaine. It had been banned from use in the US for over twenty years and had recently gotten approved, despite all the known bad side effects. This drug is toxic and dangerous and leaves people ruined beyond belief. There is no cure once it starts. With further reading I came to the conclusion, that not only had the drug poisoned me and was ruining me, but since I was half numb when Woodruff did the consecutive shots, he broke through the nerve layer and went straight through to my jawbone injecting more! Because he injected me wrongly, the damage was devasting. I had all the symptoms of what an inexperience dentist can do with this drug. For the next THREE YEARS, I suffered every waking day and sleeping night of my life!!! I had constant pain in my face, so bad that I couldn't even lay that side of my face on a soft pillow, at night. I took more aspirin then I could believe- all kinds- and nothing would dull or quiet the pain... ever!! It was constant pain in my jawbone, gums and facial cheek, all the time, never ending!!! To this day there seems to be less feeling in my cheek and gum area than I had before I went to him and less muscle control of that side of my face as well- all because of Woodruff's insistence to use this so-called new quick-acting drug. He was uncaring and unsympathetic to my pain and concerns afterwards and continues to use the drug to this day! He feels if he uses something quick acting, then he can have more patients and make more money per day. Greed. Avoid him at all costs- you don't want to wind up like I did! I only wish that someone had warned me about him and that drug!

When we started this process, my son had two adult teeth that hadn't dropped down because they were completely horizontal. We didn't know if it was even a possibility to have those teeth come down and be in place, but Dr. Koch was able to do it (albeit with the help of an oral surgeon who was able to place a hook on one of the teeth so Dr. Koch could slowly draw it down). For the first time since he was a little boy, my son has a beautiful smile, thanks to Dr. Koch. He and the rest of the wonderful people in the practice have been great from day 1.
