Doctor Weiler is great. He is super caring and very thorough. My mother is in her late 80's. Dr. Weiler made sure to ask her the right questions and he took his time doing her eye exam. His staff was also very caring. My mother had been to another place that had totally loused up her glasses. The staff at Lake view Eye Care, made sure to give her glasses that fit her face correctly and they made sure that her progressive lenses lined up properly with her pupils. I've been a patient of Lakeview Eyecare for years and found the staff to be great and Dr. Weiler to be a very through eye doctor. I have Spectera Vision insurance and they are one of the few places in the area that take my plan and worked quite well with it. In terms of the level of care I'd highly recommend Dr Weiler and his staff, he also saw me many times for seasonal allergies with no charge at all. I will caution you they do charge a premium on contact and glasses. I've stuck with them through contact lens purchases as they have been great about giving me the latest rebate offers. I went here yearly when I had vision insurance, and found the doctor to be nice and the staff to be helpful. However, like one of the other reviewers, the contact 'fit' fee is kind of baffling. I ended up spending less WITHOUT insurance using a Groupon for an eye exam and googling my brand of contacts until I found a great deal. When not having insurance costs less than having it, you know a place is overpriced. If price is not an issue though, it is a wonderful office. read more

For someone who should've been called Four-Eyes since First Grade (for some reason I was never picked on--please don't start now), Lakeview Eyecare Center is a godsend. Ever since leaving my hometown for college, where I had a *real* optometrist, I've suffered through disqualified Lenscrafters doctors. I recently decided to put my foot down and find a solid optometrist/eye care center and Lakeview Eyecare Center fits the bill perfectly. The staff there have been almost too friendly, with confirmation calls the day before my appointment--and subsequently putting up with my day-of calls to confirm my appointment time due to my forgetful-of-appointment-time nature. And what can I say about Dr. Weiler? So far he has been great about putting up with my vision neuroticism. For someone who has worn crazy-high prescription glasses/contacts for 20+ years, I'm a pretty tough patient, but he explains everything clearly, and is incredibly thorough, and addresses any concerns I may have. In fact today I went in as I felt my new left contact wasn't quite up to par with where it should be. He checked it out, made a few revisions to my prescription and ordered new contacts--all without charging me for the new contacts or the visit! read more

I've been to Lakeview Eyecare twice now, and both times have been been great experiences (well, under the circumstances...that is). Being the clumsy/ditsy person that I am, I accidentally paper-cutted my eye about a month ago. I called Lakeview Eyecare that day and they squeezed me in within a couple hours. I was impressed. The eye doctor I saw was AMAZING. Not only did he check my eye out for the paper cut incident, but he looked at my vision in general and recommended that I consider glasses. He/the office was very accomodating about the fact that I didn't have health insurance, and the rate that I was charged for the visit was totally reasonable (under $50). Fast forward one month -- and my paper-cutted eye was having problems again. I came back in and saw another (also extremely friendly and helpful) doctor who told me that sometimes this happens with eye scratch injuries. He gave me sample drops, I was again charged the same reasonable rate, and was also given a prescription for other drops I needed. I cannot emphasize just how personable and amazing the eye doctors I saw were! Seriously, I did not feel rushed on either visit (which is really important to me for doctor visits). He talked to me and fully explained the problem, worked with me despite my lack of insurance. Overall - amazing visit. I'm getting health insurance from my job in about 30 days and will definitely be coming back to obtain glasses from this office. I have no doubt that they'll probably cost more than they would from a Target or Four Eyes - but given how much I trust their work, I have no problem paying a little extra money. read more

After checking with my insurance plan, there were 6 optometrists available close by. I checked them all out, called a couple, and Lakeview Eye Care won. This place seemed to be the only one truly concerned with eye health and not just having a selection of fashionable frames and available contacts. I have some unusual conditions with my eyes that don't necessarily require an ophthalmologist, but do require an optometrist who knows what he/she is doing and has the screening capability I need to make sure my eyes are as healthy at they can be. I am very happy with the service I've been getting. I got a screening that I was very happy about, got a clean bill of eye health, and needed an adjustment to my prescription. I decided to get new frames as well as lenses, and was surprised at how reasonably priced the majority of the frames are. I also decided to try contacts again, though I haven't worn them in several years and have difficult-to-fit eyes (toric lenses in both). I've been back once already to re-fit and we're still in the process as of this review. Of course, I checked with my insurance first to see if they covered the contact lens fitting. (they do) But I would have gladly paid the additional fee as it covers all the lenses I've gone through to get the right fit, plus lens solution and the Doctor's time. I do recommend understanding your insurance benefits before any doctor visit! read more

Love Dr. Weiler. He's patient and thorough but doesn't waste time. I appreciate that the office is open late sometimes and that they don't push you to buy your glasses from them. When buying contacts, they will let you know if there are rebates available and help you with the paperwork. I've also gotten free boxes of travel size contact solution. There are pros and cons to this office. PROS - Professional. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Expert. Dr. Weiler is great at what he does. I've never had such a great eye exam. I left feeling that all of my eye care needs were addressed. Comfortable. The staff does not push frames on you. Clean. The office is nice and sanitary. CONS - The price. This office is WAY more expensive than other offices. I wish I would have known about the "fit" fees in advance. I called and explained this to the office, but they didn't seem to react. The selection. If you do want frames, this is not the place to choose from. I cannot afford to do business with this office again. I will go to a cheaper place next time. read more

Great eye care office with pleasant, helpful staff and a nice and knowledgeable doctor who doesn't try to sell you anything you don't need. While I agree with other reviewers that frame selection seems somewhat limited, there were plenty of good looking options that fit within my vision plan benefits, and I now have a fine pair of hot-for-teacher glasses that I'd be proud to wear anywhere. Dr. Weiler is incredibly nice and thorough. The office is equipped with current and up to date machines to get you a great fit and proper prescription. After reading other reviews, keep in mind he is an Optometrist, not an opthalmologist. He will do more and also knows more than the latter. Therefore it may cost a bit more but if there's ever a real issue, he's the one who can fix it. Also, the problem is les skillet to occur. I'm willing to pay a bit more to ensure my eyes are healthy. read more

I recently went for a normal eye exam. Everything seemed great and when it was time to pay for the copay, they informed me there was a $55 "contact fit fee" that is NOT covered by the insurance. I was confused and didn't understand how this wasn't part of the exam? I am VERY annoyed that they didn't tell me ahead a time that a "contact fit" would NOT be covered by the insurance. I am also VERY annoyed that this supposedly "contact fit" procedure lasted about 2 minutes at the end of the exam and they charged me $55. I would not recommend this place due to their dishonesty and the fact they took advantage of this "contact fit fee". I didn't need a "contact fit" and would have been alright without one! read more

This place is expensive compared to others but it is worth it. The office has a very knowledgeable and efficient staff. Dr. Weiler is friendly and approachable. When I was in for my first visit, I did not have to wait long for my appointment. I was given a full, satisfactory exam. All the necessary tests were administered. I agree with other comments about "contact fit" fee, a slight rip-off, but since my insurance pays it hasn't been a problem. Very nice staff and Dr, very accomodation and understanding about missed appointments. I love the fact that they are open at the weekend. Dr Weiler also recently saw my 8-year-old son. The very nice and professional manager of the clinic contacted me and apologized for the mishap and they said they'd be issuing a check for the amount I paid for the lens fitting and out of plan contact lenses, which I'm thankful for. I still think it's important to be very conscious of what you're being charged for, but that goes for any place of business. I'm satisfied with the manager resolved it, she seemed to have a much better understanding of how things should have worked than the front desk staff was privy to. read more

Despite using insurance, they still charge you the typical co-pay, but above and beyond that, a $60 "contact fitting fee", which they tried to justify as to cover the cost of the trial pairs. I always thought the trial pairs were provided by the lens makers? Just another sham to seperate you and your money. read more
