I contacted Lakeview earlier this year when I decided to switch my auto and homeowners insurance to Erie Insurance after reading about Erie in Consumer Reports magazine. I was fortunate to be connected to Doris Ortega, who was very pleasant to deal with. More importantly, she was very knowledgeable about insurance, and she quickly determined what my insurance needs were. I wound up saving about $2,000/yr for coverage similar to what I had with my prior carrier. Now, having said all that, the real test of Lakeview's worthiness will come if I ever have to make a claim. It's one thing to be a 5-star agency when it comes to the purchase of insurance, and it's quite another thing for an insurance agency to be there on your side if you ever have to make a claim. I hope I never have to make a home or auto claim, but if and when I do, I'll report further. For now, I'm quite happy with my experience with Lakeview to date. read more

I like this place for a couple of reasons. One is that it's in the neighborhood, agents are people that live and work in the area and I like that connection. Secondly, they are pretty helpful and quick to respond to get your question answered. I've been with them a few years now and have been pretty happy with them. I've used Lakeview Insurance for the last thirty years and have found it to always be reliable. Whenever I have a question, they get back to me promptly. Recently, a broken a/c pipe in my condo broke while no one was home and caused thousands of dollars of damage to units below. They put me in touch with an adjuster at my insurer who reviewed condo association covenants and concluded that I wasn't responsible to pay for the damages and provided me with letter to send to unit owners and the condo association. Read this before you consider Lakeview Insurance company. It will save you time and money! Here's the balls on the table truth..they are fine....until you have a claim. I am a small brick and mortar business owner and I have had 2 claims in the 9 years I have been with Lakeview Insurance Company. 3 years ago I had a claim for water damage that came into my business from the apartment above. I had 20k worth of damage. After months of headache, I only saw 8k of the water damage claim. It was so painful dealing with them that I gave up and wrote it off as a business loss. Recently, someone broke into my business and stole 30k of my pro camera gear. The company Lakeview Insurance put me with is offering me 20k for the claim that has taken over 60 days to even get this far. The other 10k I have to come out of pocket and then send in receipts to be "CONSIDERED". Lakeview isn't going to bat for me. Considered? I sent my premium check in every month, that should be enough to be CONSIDERED. The companies Lakeview puts you with, you will never become "whole" again which is what the purpose of insurance is. You will have to FIGHT for your policy contract and coverage. Lakeview doesn't help you get what is rightfully yours to become whole again. I am going to an attorney today to get what is owed to me. Instead of just doing what is right, they want to hope I go away again. Not this time. They say they stand behind their claims...they do not. Stay away.... because they can cash your check, but you will never be able to cash theirs. read more

Anyone who is self-employed can probably tell you...finding health insurance sucks! Lucky for me, and you, there ARE decent insurance agents out there. I stopped in here last week in a state of desperation. I had to wait only a bit for the health insurance agent (fine with me since I didn't make an appt.) and once it was my turn, I got almost an hour of one on one help and info. My agent, Izzy spent time explaining not only my options, but how insurance even works (deductible? co-pay? HSA? it was all Greek to me.) I left feeling confident in the information I had received and with what I felt was a great plan for me. The best part was that there was absolutely no pressure to buy and I definitely got the sense that Izzy had my best interests at heart. They also seem to offer pretty much any kind of insurance you might need, and if the other agents are half as nice as Izzy, this is good news for all your insurance needs. read more

I wanted to use a local insurance agent and being a true Lakeviewer, thought who could be better than these folks?! I mean, their Yelp reviews are really great amirite? Unfortunately, after being with these folks and Progressive insurance for over a year now, I now know that these people are little more than middlemen who take your money. The customer service is terrible and their attitude towards their customers are extremely poor. At one point when I changed bank accounts they ignored my emails requesting they take note of the new bank info. Instead they just let my policy lapse without so much as a phone call. I walk by their storefront on Southport all the time so when time came for me to shop for home insurance (oh the joys of home owning) I figured I'd give them a call and see what they offered. While I was at it I had them quote for auto insurance too. They responded within a day with a couple different options plainly laid out for me to decide. The coverage they found was definitely the cheapest I saw which allowed me to get much higher coverage levels for the same price as minimum levels with other insurance companies. I paid by credit card and I was done. They were quick, professional, and found me good rates. I've walked past Lakeview Insurance Agency for years, since it is right in my neighborhood. I never had a neighborhood insurance contact before, so I didn't know what I have been missing. In the past, I never met my representatives, they were just a voice on the phone. Plus, I did not understand what made one policy or insurance company better than others. I mostly just hated to pay the premium, whatever it was. I saw Lakeview Insurance's support of neighborhood events all through the year, and the great care they took of their property. I later learned that most of their agents have over 10 years in the business. I also liked that it was not a one man band (they have 16 people working there). So I gave my policies to Doris to review, and on one, she found that I had good coverage and pricing. My other policy showed areas where I could be better covered, for the same cost. In the end I made Lakeview Insurance my agent of record, which means I know who to call, and if I can't call, I can walk there. Their neighborhood connection, longevity in business, and experienced team make me confident that I am well covered, yet not overpaying for the coverage. read more

I am quite surprised at the ratings because I have had a terrible experience trying to purchase Medicare insurance here. I have been a customer for a long time and find that there is one person who is extremely good and the agents around him have an attitude or something because it is difficult to get a return phone call. I am investor and at first I had a very positive experience with lakeview when I insured my first building. When I tried to insure my second building they said they can't insure it because the garage looked bad and had an issue on the stairway. Granted the building was newly remodeled. The garage had issues which I fixed within a month from buying the building. I don't even mind that they rejected to insure the building since I know they only insure buildings that are in very good shape to keep rates low even though I disagreed with their assessment. The building was/is bringing 3k a month per apt which is a testament of its state. What I minded is the way they delivered the message. Doris was extremely rude. She sent an email saying she can't insure it and did not offer an alternative. She was not willing to discuss the condition of the building. She was rude via email and treated me like someone she did not want to talk to. If I owned the business I would have made sure my customer who has multiple buildings is happy. That does not necessarily mean I would have insured them but I would have gotten on the phone with them and made sure to help them find alternative options. I have bought other buildings since and taken all my business elsewhere. I pay over 15k a year in insurance which lakeview could have benefited from if they had better customer experience/manners when communicating with customers. read more
