Staying in a hotel that is not part of a chain can be hit-or-miss. Happily, this one was a hit, with none of the pretense and all of the value. The room where we stayed was pleasant, with a very good mattress (good sleep), decent TV, very good WiFi reception and a good shower. The owner was helpful answering our questions and an overall good person. I would recommend staying here in a heartbeat. read more

Disgusting! We have a small dog so looking for pet friendly. The bathroom was the worst I've ever seen. Cracked and dirty tiles, tub stained broken sink cabinet. I wouldn't allow my dog to walk on what appeared to be a dirty floor with a clump of black dog hair noted near the bed. We are traveling in a beautiful, new $250,000 smaller motorhome but my husband needed a large shower after a few days of dry camping. He usually uses camping or RV park facilities. I wouldn't have stayed in this for free. Had I of had a choice, let alone pay $117 that we did. The owners should be ashamed to put people in a room like this. Never again. Absolutely unacceptable! Dog owners are entitled to appropriate facilities and are nor second class citizens. The night clerk seemed to be a nice enough guy, however. read more

Dirty as heck rooms!!! Floors feel like they are falling apart! There is what looks like paper towels shoved into holes in the walls and maybe plugging a water leak in the ceiling!!! Owners / managers are super nice! However pretty sure I am going to get sick from this room! They don't clean each day... or what looks like EVER! Pleasant check in, good bed, quiet. This is an old Motor Lodge hotel. Busy neighborhood, easy access to Safeway, Dollar Stores, etc. It looks like remote work crews use this as a regular stop. That made me feel very safe. My room needs a smoke-removal treatment, but otherwise was very clean. This neighborhood is in an interesting place. Deer walked casually through the Fire Station parking lot just across the street. Looking the other way a car had stopped for Quail crossing. I've never stopped here before but it's been an adventure! The price was right and it was a safe place for me and my two little dogs. I'd probably stay longer next time just to look around. read more

Dirty room, no hot water in the shower, and I was overcharged for the pet fee for my dog. It's worth the extra money to go to another hotel in town. I tried to get compensated for the overcharge and the manager ignored the requests. I also tried to get hotels.com involved and the manager wanted me to call him to discuss. But since I have already tried to multiple times(with no answer), I give up trying and just won't return. read more

Absolute dump. The room was evidently a room in progress, wall trim pulled away from the wall, every trash can was filled to the brim with trash spilling over. The ice machine had no ice and took 30 minutes to make a cup full. The coke machine had no out of order sign and stole my dollar with no refund, yet this was nothing compared to the brown water from the sink, shower and toilet. I gave two 2 stars only because it was quiet, probably because it was mostly empty. I will never stay here again. I will make the drove back to Alturas. And not just because the nasty water the town has. Concerning the water, if I owned a hotel here, I would install a serious filter system and advertise the cleanest water in town. But, back to the hotel: they lock the front door and you have to ring a bell to be escorted in. They leave at 10pm, not sure when they come back, I left at 7am and they still weren't there. I never saw the lady because the Covid Guard was a window screen wrapped in plastic. The room: nasty. There is a 1in gap under the door so the room has flies and mosquitoes in it. And is was hot! Unlike every other place I stayed this place leaves the AC off so you walk into a hot room. There is exterior plumbing running exposed on the ceiling right above the bed. The couch and chair are disgustingly filthy. The sheets are dingy yellow, the towels look more the towels I use for rags in my garage. The toilet tank is gross, I had to take the top off because it would flush. The "closet" is a rod and shelf above the lamp on the night stand. I opened the bathroom window for fresh morning air to find a dump piled up against the wall and window. The bed is NOT comfortable. I don't understand the 4 star reviews. read more

This motel was built about 1960, by my guess, and the current owners are doing your best to make it a good place to stay. They are obviously doing it on a shoestring budget and their own elbow grease, which means the linens are inexpensive and the paint job has some spatters. Apparently there was a problem with the water pipes, which has resulted in pipes running across the ceiling, which looks odd but does not affect how well you sleep. The place was quiet and clean, the mattress was good, and the refrigerator worked. All in all, a good deal. I would give 3 1/2 stars if I knew how. read more

If I had had any other choice available I would have run. It looks like someone took care in remodeling it, so I will give them that. But it also looks like once the remodel was done no one ever cleaned it again. Stained sheets, a piece of bandaid on the side of the bed, dirt/filth/grime everywhere, handprints on the mirrors, dried pee on the outside of the toilet, something dark splattered all over the side of the tub and the baseboards. Trash cans, broken furniture, busted plastic bins, and someone's dirty pants stacked outside the door. There was a note about the water being brown, but no explanation for the water stinking like rotten eggs. To top that off, the bed was hard as a rock. I might as well have just slept on the floor, would have felt the same. Absolutely miserable experience in every regard. read more

The room was dirty. I understand it's a small business but basic cleanliness was ignored. The mirror was dirty, there were dead moths by the bed, one used qtip also by the bed, and a quart of milk left in the mini fridge from who knows how long ago. Good points it was the cheapest in the county , allowed pets, and quiet. The front desk guy was the only one I talked to and it was a quick check in. It's also located really close to a grocery store so it was easy to stock up on drinking water. read more

Great value. Great stay. Clean and roomy. We were traveling from Colorado and found we couldn't make Bend at a reasonable time. Lakeview was the only other option. How fortunate for us. Bob, greeted us with a warm friendly smile and we chatted for a bit. He, and his wife Barbara, are from Wales. The room was large with two queen beds and a sofa sleeper...and it was clean. That was a number one priority for us. the beds were comfortable. The shower, though a bit small, had good water pressure. It was not so small as to be an inconvenience. After checking out, we went to a local restaurant for breakfast. We hadn't even ordered, yet, when Barbara came in with my son's pillow that we had forgotten in the room. Now that is above and beyond the call. Quite impressive. Barbara also makes earrings which are on display at the check-in desk. Not expensive and quite original. All-in-all, a very pleasant stay in a very pleasant town. People live in Lakeview because they want to, not because they have to. That alone makes it a wonderful place. Bob and Barbara are the proof of that. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. read more

I REALLY wanted to like this place, and the only reason I'm giving this motel even two stars is because the British couple at the front desk seem like nice people, and they were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, most everything else about the Lakeview Lodge is dodgy. PROS: Price was lower than others (but way too high given my overall experience, as you'll read below) Friendly welcome Close to gas station, grocery store, and restaurants Microwave, refrigerator, flatscreen TV, coffee pot CONS: Water is STINKY!! There was NO WAY I was letting that sewage-smelling "water" touch my body, much less brush my teeth with it. I had been looking forward to a nice hot shower, but decided I was going to have to wait until the next day...which was a bummer. Unfortunately, this means that the only thing I could really use in the bathroom was the toilet. I even had to go to the grocery store to get a gallon of drinking water just so I could brew coffee and brush my teeth. It was quite disgusting. The sheet was STAINED! I pulled down the covers and there was a huge stain-looking thing right where you would expect a stain to be. It wasn't brown or yellow, but it was pretty gross looking. I pulled the middle blanket back up over it and slept in my sleeping bag instead. Well, I say slept, but it was more like a frustrated tossing all night, worrying about bed bugs and boogie monsters and who knows what else. By the way, the office had closed by the time I discovered the stained sheets (since I'm sure some are wondering why I didn't call them immediately). Unfortunately, the office was closed at 5:30am when I had to continue on my journey, too. So, I'm choosing Yelp to let out my complaints. Finally, the Free WiFi was really crappy. That's not super unusual, but it's always disappointing and should be pointed out. My wife and I couldn't maintain a VOIP conversation for more than a few seconds at a time, so I finally switched back to my dataplan (Verizon), which worked perfectly. Thanks for nothing, Lakeveiw Lodge. I have NO IDEA how people could give this place a positive rating in it's current state. Do Not Stay here! Within the first hour of our stay we killed 3 cockroaches! Called the front desk to inform them of this which they replied they are not cockroaches. Even if they weren't (which they where) bugs are bugs and should not be your roommate at a motel. It was late and we decided to bunk with the roaches for the night- the next day when we where packing up to move to another motel, we explained to the cleaner we where leaving due to the roaches who also denied they where roaches- we showed her the evidence and she didn't have much to say other then I didn't know. My car broke down in Lakeview, and due to the time it took to get parts, I had to spend two nights there. I spent the first night at the Fremont Inn, which looked like the best hotel in town. It wasn't. I won't go into what was wrong with that hotel, but they were full for the second night so I moved to Lakeview Lodge Motel. What a pleasant surprise. The room I got had been recently remodeled to its charming mid-century roots. The bathroom hadn't been remodeled yet, but was very clean. The internet worked great (unlike other hotels in town), the bed was fresh and comfortable, and the couple who are now the new managers were friendly and professional. If I end up staying in Lakeview again, I will definitely choose this motel. read more

This is one of those hole in the wall motels when you don't have a lot of cash but want a nice clean room and a good bed. Got the economy room which is cozy and small with a queen bed for $53 including tax. The owners are Christians which make it even better. On the other hand, if you want a "mom and pop" owned, half the price as chains, clean, comfortable, roomy, motel with owners who are both friendly, helpful, and the type people you'd want living next door, then this is your place! Well it was a tough night at the Lakeview Lodge Motel. A room with two queen beds was $70 night. Decent looking place but the bed is where the sleeping happens. Sadly not in room 31. The beds seem to have been there since the 60's or maybe the 70s. The beds sank in the middle and and the springs wanted to pop thru with every movement. I never did sleep. I like the night air but at 5.45am the diesel rig that was backed in was warming for 10 minutes before leaving, but not before leaving it's exhaust in our room. I did close the window, but too late we were in a haze. I have never owned a diesel rig but I would like to think that I would move it out of the sleeping room area to perhaps the street 50 feet away to be considerate of other guests. The toilet didn't flush properly and the sink faucet was not secure but did have a light stream. The flat screen TV was nice. I returned the keys and remote control to the office and politely mentioned all of the above. Precious little heart older woman said that I was the only person that has ever complained about the beds. I said I was just telling her so that she has an opportunity to look into the problems. She did say that it does take a while for diesel to warm up. I agreed. That was the end of that. I don't know what I thought would happen. I also asked if there was a Continental breakfast. Sadly there was not, but can make your own coffee in the room. I guess in Lakeview this is a great deal for the tired and weary travelers. But they did get my money last night. I regret not taking any pictures to show you. DO NOT STAY HERE! Our family is on a road trip and this was a place we booked online after traveling all day. The online photos do not look like the actual hotel! We should've known it was a red flag when there were no cars in the parking lot. we arrived around check in time and decided to go on a walk as a family then out to dinner, upon our arrival back to the motel I gave my daughter a bath in the brown water thinking it was fine because the city is on mostly well water... the shampoo seemed like it was refilled with water, there were dead cockroaches on the floor and the window sill, yellow dirty areas on the toilet, there was exposed wiring close to the floor (and we have a small child), exposed piping through the walls and ceilings, the bed skirt was a stained yellow, there were cracks in framing around the windows and flooring and there were dirty hand prints on head board of our bed. I double checked the mattress edges to see any evidence of bed bugs and did not see anything however, when I looked at the sheets and the pillows they had dog hair all over them! It's as if the bedding wasn't washed or and the placed wasn't cleaned prior to our arrival! We were so disgusted with how dirty the room was, we decided to pack up our things (now it's closer to 7pm) and go to a new place in Klamath Falls (1.5 hour drive away). When I went to tell the owner what we saw and how the room is too dirty for us to stay in, he didn't believe me and requested that I bring him to our room to show him. I requested a refund and was told that if we had reported the issue within an hour of our arrival then he would have honored it, but since we had been there so long he is not willing to grant us a refund. I explained to him that we had gone out as a family and just noticed the issues. He still refused. We will not be returning nor would we recommend this place. For $20 more a night we slept comfortably in a room without having to worry about the bugs getting through the cracks in the walls or crawling on us at night. Most of all, we know we are safe in a clean and sanitized hotel unlike the Lakeview Motel. read more

I paid for three nights at this hotel. After two nights an emergency came up and I had to drive home. I spoke to the front desk lady/manager, explained the situation and she said she would give me a refund for the last night. She took down my email address to send me a confirmation. Later that evening, I called back to check to see if they were going to issue the refund. It still had not been done. They said they would return my call. Two phone call later the manager finally says, "well it wasn't within 24 hours so you will not be getting a refund." She had no explanation as to why she didn't say this in the first place, or why she wouldn't return my calls inquiring about it. Oh, and also their were spiders climbing on the walls in the room and piles of trash right outside our hotel door. Wifi was terrible. Two beds were placed in a way that only one faced the tv. Poor lighting, goofy room layout, no alarm clock, brown water [not the fault of the establishment, methinks]; wall heat & a/c had two speeds, off and FULL BLAST on, which woke me up more than once in the middle of the night; bedspread was musty smelling; on the plus side, the room rate at $53 was cheap and the owner was quite pleasant at check in.
