Lakewood Vet is always very efficient and kind to my pup. Also, I had 3 dogs at once recently (2 were my mom's) so it was a lot for 1 person to get out of the car / back into the car. They were incredibly patient and helpful during the whole visit with the three excited dogs, and helped me walk them out to my car afterwards and get them safely back in my car. I took my kitten to get spayed and they asked if I wanted to do bloodwork before, I said yes because blood work should always be done before a surgery. That blood work and urinalysis came out to be $705. Way too high as everyone I've spoken to said similar testing for their pets was no more than $250 at other vets. They also told me the cost to spay my pet would be $740. Way overpriced, I'll do whatever for my pet but don't want to get taken advantage of. read more

After about a year with this vet I will say that there were a handful of occasions where they tried to severely overcharge for procedures or refused to treat unless I paid for unnecessary tests for my animals. They are FINE but I didn't really trust them to help me make practical medical decisions for my animals and ended up switching to a different vet in Dallas. We had been going to this clinic with our new puppy and recently had a miscommunication about a balance on our account that was owed. Instead of calling to discuss the balance the vet/clinic decided to remove us as clients without even notifying us, and I had to find out over the phone when I called to ask a routine medical question for my dog. I immediately drove to the clinic and paid our outstanding balance to clear our bill and we won't be returning. The lack of communication and treatment I was met with was such a negative experience. It's a shame because the staff were all super friendly and we enjoyed everything about our experience until now. read more

The vet I have had for past 20+ years retired a few months ago and I had a vet emergency yesterday w one of my kitties and I was able to get in quickly so he could be looked at. He had blood in his urine, glassy eyes w 3rd eye coming up and zero appetite. He seems to be a little better today, moving around but still no appetite. They are wonderful and their new location is so much more convenient than the old one. We booked our 2 cats for a "spa day" the day our movers came. We dropped them off at the clinic early that morning. While they were there their shots we updated and their claws were trimmed. Once the movers were done we picked them up and brought them to the new place. They were so well cared for while the were at LVC. It is a loving environment for cats. Not the place you want for your furry loved ones. My baby was having an emergency during business hours and they would not see her. They referred me to an emergency center or to Cornerstone Animal Center during hours they were open. If I'm taking my baby elsewhere during an emergency ~ why would I ever go back to them?! This was our first visit for our puppy, Bear. I have had some weird experiences with vets back home but I am so glad I was able to find such a wonderful place. I started going here when my dog was a puppy, and was never impressed with them. When I needed to bring my dog in right away, both of the "on-duty" doctors were at lunch...for two hours. The reason I was in a hurry was because they misdiagnosed her with allergies when she actually had a severe upper respiratory infection. Her fever had spiked and she was shaking and crying. The friendly professionals at Lakewood Veterinary attended to my kitty and I (emotional support is priceless!!), for a little over a year. She was very very old, and as is the way things go with elderly animals, she eventually did have to be kindly euthanized. I'm so grateful for the patience and caring of Dr.White and the rest of the staff. I felt as if they truly helped my kitty's last year be one of quality, and gave me a little more time to love on her. These people genuinely care, and I will forever hold appreciation in my heart for that last year, as well as that last day. On that day, I actually felt as if they loved her too. Lakewood vet is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that your animal is well taken care of. My puppy, unfortunately, got sick and I wasn't able to make it to their office on time to pick up the medicine they prescribed before they closed. The staff at Lakewood actually stayed late so that I was able to get my dog her meds. Not all vets are willing to do that. Now my pup is on her way to good health. They also gave me tips and tricks on how to help my pup not be afraid of vet visits. It was very much appreciated advice! read more

Dr. Wright and staff are beyond wonderful. I can't imagine taking our cats to anyone else. We had to put down my husband's beloved Shiva last July. It was so hard for my husband to let go. Dr. Wright actually crawled into the cage Shiva was staying in (yes, the cage was big and if you're a patient of Dr. Wright you know he could do this!) to give him his last shot. My husband was devastated as Shiva was his Best Friend. Dr. Wright and staff were so gentle and honest on Shiva's progress and when it was time, they let my husband know. Since last July we've gotten a new kitten named "Odie" (Odysseus is his full name) who came into our lives quite unexpectedly and much sooner than we planned. He's got so much of Shiva in him we can't ignore the fact that Odie chose us. He was only 3 weeks old when I found him and took him straight to Dr. Wright. Keri (his technician) was there and showed me how to feed a 3 week old kitten as well has how to take care of him at home. We were so scared and skid-dish at first and had to take another trip back to Keri for instruction. Everyone was so patient with us and finally we got it down to a science. Now Dr. Wright and staff LOVE seeing him and they make sure to let him know who's in charge (we've not conquered that yet). Odie's had all his shots and the last order of business is his neuter surgery. I wouldn't trust my little boy to anyone else but Dr. Wright. You wouldn't take your child to just any pediatrician. I recently saw Dr. Wright for my Chihuahua who was in extreme pain and distress and wasn't able to move (at the time I didn't know why, turned out it was a pinched nerve in her neck) I was was a hot mess crying and upset trying to frantically find a vet that met my standards but that could also see my dog immediately. After many referrals and lots of online research, Lakewood Veterinary Center was my first choice. I called there and a few other ones (in case they couldn't see me) and they immediately called me back, and shifted their schedule to accommodate me so my poop pup could be seen. AND I wasn't even an existing patient, I had never taken my dog Duchess to see them before. When I got there, I knew my pup would be in good hands, it was clean and organized and just had a good energy within the office. As the other reviews on here say--Dr. Wright has a very calming, professional, and focused demeanor. He took a ton of time to answer every question of mine and put my worries as ease. He didn't push any sales or anything and explained that laser therapy would be a good treatment plan along with muscle relaxers, pain meds and anti inflammatories. Dr. Wright had his tech Josh do the laser therapy while he answered my 274827264 questions in detail. I was very impressed by how good Josh was with my pop. I have never seen someone go so far out of their way to make one of my dogs feel safe, comfortable and loved while at the vet. She didn't want to leave! We moved to Dallas in 2014 with our fur babies- 9yo dachshund and 6yo boston terrier. It took about six months to find a good veterinarian (Dr. Wright). Since then he and his staff have been there through emergencies (herniated discs, torn-off toenail, dog bite with drain placement, ear infections), general illness, and wellness exams with us. I like Dr. Wright. He was there for me and my most favorite cat (that I am still grieving the loss of after two years.) Dr. Wright currently takes care of my two other cats. He is knowledgable and caring. I used to go to Hillside vet but when I had an emergency with my cat a few years ago, Hillside was too busy to get my cat in. It turned out that my cat had a rare tumor. Being somewhat an unfortunate expert with unusual things happening with animals, after three days of what Dr. Wright prescribed wasn't working, I knew to ask for a referral to the Animal Ophthalmology Clinic in North Dallas as opposed to continuing letting Dr. Wright try and figure out what was wrong. Not that this was his fault, remember...it was a "rare" condition. Dr. Wright didn't hesitate and gave me the referral. The animal ophthalmologist knew within the first 5 seconds what was wrong.
