Unfortunately, found myself here on Christmas Eve with a dog who had gotten into some trash. Even though it was a holiday, the staff was very welcoming and very professional. They treated my dog with care and got us taken care of. I hope I never have to take advantage of an emergency vet, but if I do, I will trust the staff and Doctors at Hillside veterinary clinic.

Happy after visit with Dr. Hardin !

I brought my dog here for his annual visit and found it to be welcoming and thorough. The vet, Dr Hardin, answered all my questions, was caring and empathetic. While not as talkative as I he knew his stuff and answered all of my questions and helped me understand things going on with my dog- from medical to behavioral. I'd recommend Dr Hardin for your pet needs.

I was skeptical after reading the reviews about this place but what do you do during the CoronaVirus outbreak of your fur baby is hurt and in pain. You wait and hope the reviews aren't accurate. Well we were told the visit would be $75 and they would advise us of any additional costs... well it was 10pmish on a weekday and our baby had hurt his arm. So we cake here to be charged $120 for a checkup and a pain shot. To be told he would be fine. It's been 5 days and our baby is still limping some... but seems to be ok. We did wait 3 hours in our car in the heat and were able to leave with some peace of mind. My opinion is come here ONLY if you have no choice but to. If you are able to wait to the morning wait.

This is going to be long but it needs to be said in hopes that it doesn't happen to someone else's fur-baby. My mom's 15 year old cat had a stroke and we made the difficult decision to have her put to sleep so she would not be in anymore pain. Her back legs had given out on her so it was definitely the most humane decision. Sophie (the cat) was terrified of leaving the house and of vets. My mom and I both have use Hillside previously so felt confident that they would be kind and take good care of her. My mom brought her in and the front girl put them in a room and took Sophie to go have a catheter put in. I should mention that the guy that took her had zero personality and handled Sophie like she was a bag of trash. This is where the nightmare begins. 25-30 minutes pass by and still waiting. My mom finally goes out front to see what the deal is and the front desk girl hurries her back into the room and says to use the buzzer if needed but to not leave the room. At no time did this girl ever mention the buzzer before. She casually mentioned that they were having a very difficult time putting in the catheter which was very upsetting as we did not want Sophie to be in further pain. Also while visibly shaken up waiting in the room, you could hear the front desk girls giggling the whole time. After 20 minutes more, I said let's just get Sophie and go somewhere else. Knowing she is terrified of the vets and in pain, we were horrified thinking of what was happening to her for almost an hour. Just then a vet tech comes in to say that Sophie had bitten another tech while holding her. So since she was not up to date on Rabies vaccine (she has been a strictly indoor cat for 15 years) that they were going to need to charge $150 rabies test for the tech and my mom was responsible for the cost. Meanwhile Sofie is in obvious distress and has both of her front paws shaven from them trying to put this catheter in. She was clearly terrified and in pain. At this point we just wanted Sophie to have some peace. The vet proceeded with the first shot to sedate her in the catheter (used her back leg). Several minutes go by and she is still in distress. The catheter was not inserted properly so after over an hour of them terrorizing her trying to put this in, the vet ended up using a butterfly needle to make the injections which finally worked. Poor sweet Sophie was gone buried in my moms arm from being so frightened. So after over an hour of them taking Sophie away to try this painful catheter, it was not even used at the end. By the way, throughout this whole time you could hear the girls at the front laughing. This was such a horrific experience and so traumatized knowing our poor Sophie suffered unnecessarily before being put to sleep. I'm not sure what happened to Hillside but they need a serious overhaul. My mom will never use them again and I will not for our fur babies either. I will tell anyone who will listen to avoid this place as well as wouldn't want anyone to go through this. The guy who took Sophie back, needs to be fired. A requirement should be that you like and respect animals, not treat them and their owners like garbage. The girls at the front need to be mindful and understand it is super inappropriate to be laughing and cutting up when you have people there losing their family members. I am just so completely disgusted by this and the people that put my poor mom and Sophie through such a horrific ordeal.

R I P~Maddie Girl Best Cat EVER! Les called you a Cog, cause you were a cat with a dog's heart. You came into our hearts in 2005. You were sent by God on a cold December night when we had just lost out sweet Westie boy, Brutus, a few days eariler & it was around my birthday. You were much needed & wanted. You preferred to sit on Daddy's lap, cause he's the allergic one, lol, but always sat at Mommie's feet. You only liked fish favored cat food, especially salmon. Pool water was the Best Water except when it came from the bird bath. You loved your 2 silly dogs Grady & Georgia, who too often made you receive wet dog kisses. You were always one regal, color coordinated cat with your amber eyes that matched your fur. Dinner on the patio having Family Time will never be the same, it will now be called Maddie Time. Love you Maddie, in our hearts Forever! Maddie, You set the bar so high no other Cat can ever reach it. The care you received from Hillside Vet was Outstanding! Upon coming into the room with my Maddie in her cardboard coffin the sweet young tech informed me she drew a tiny little heart so we would know where Maddie's Head was resting. You can see in the picture. Les & I always bury our fur-kids with one of their favorite toys or a memorable object. Maddie's is the fabric from her cushion, from her chaise lounge chair she used to sun on, & she is buried behind our shed where she would also nap & sun on an old flower pot. R I P Maddie Girl. Thank You Hillside Vet for your kindness to Maddie!!! oxo

Our local emergency center veterinarians couldn't provide the level of care Ralphie desperately needed, so we made the frantic drive from Lubbock to MedVet in Dallas. We arrived at 1:30 a.m. on a Friday morning, and the emergency team was waiting for us. They immediately took Ralphie back and began treating him. The doctors kept us updated every day, although the prognosis was very grim. Stopping his seizures proved to be more difficult than anyone expected. Dr. Williams eventually called with heartbreaking news--we were faced with the decision of placing Ralphie on a ventilator if we wanted to give him any chance of survival. Even with the poor prognosis, we didn't hesitate. Ralphie is family. Despite being on seven different sedative and anti-seizure medications, he continued to have breakthrough seizures. Three days into his hospitalization, Dr. O'Connor, the critical care specialist, took over Ralphie's case. She is brilliant and truly became our saving grace. She is an optimistic while also being honest about how critical his condition was. She carefully adjusted his medications, and for the first time, his seizures finally began to come under control. Ralphie also received exceptional one-on-one care from his nurses, Esmeralda on the day shift and Micah on the evening shift. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to meet Micah in person, but she went out of her way to keep us informed. She even called us at 11:00 p.m. to let us know Ralphie had finally been extubated. That phone call meant the world to us. Esmeralda took extraordinary care of Ralphie. We visited him every day and received updates from both Dr. O'Connor and Esmeralda. They were compassionate, professional, and genuinely caring. Esmeralda would talk to Ralphie and gently brush him, even while he was in a coma. Those small acts of kindness spoke volumes about the type of person and nurse she is. Dr. O'Connor never gave up on Ralphie. She was determined to try every possible option to save him, and we trusted her completely. Every suggestion she made, we agreed to because we knew she was fighting just as hard for him as we were. She believed in him, and so did we. After seven days at MedVet, Ralphie came home with us. We know that without the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff, he likely would not be here today. We hope we never have another emergency like this, but if we do, there is nowhere else we would trust with Ralphie's life. Thank you, Dr. O'Connor, Dr. Williams, Esmeralda, Micah, and the entire MedVet team for giving our family more time with our sweet boy. She clearly takes a pro-active approach and advocates for all her clients. We were referred to MedVet by Dr. Kevin Donnelly due to an infected tooth root abscess that was affecting Donny's right eye. Dr. Sturbaum and the tech were in the room to address any questions and concerns and he was immediately able to be taken for a ct scan to determine what, if anything, was wrong. He had to be dropped off for those few hours and picked up before the end of the day. Dr. Sturbaum was in constant contact with me regarding Donny. I promptly received a phone call with all her updates and findings. His biopsy came back as nasal adenocarcinoma less than a week later. Dr. Sturbaum called me with those results as well and said since MEDVET does not have a radiation oncology unit at their facility, that Donny would be transferred to VCA Dallas Specialty Hospital. She immediately informed them of Donny and less than a week later, we were already scheduled for an appointment. The nasal adenocarcinoma turned out to be localized and Donny received SRT for three days in March at VCA Dallas. He was doing so well with his radiation treatments until he suddenly and unexpectedly declined the morning of May 1, 2026. He couldn't walk very well. He was not interested in eating. He had IMTP and a ct scan showed little tumors in his abdomen, spleen, and perforations in his colon, an indication that the cancer had metastasized throughout his body. We made the extremely difficult decision to end Donny's suffering by giving him one final send off over the Rainbow Bridge late Friday night on May 1st, 2026. The staff at VCA Dallas were compassionate, kind, and caring. They let us spend as much time as we needed with Donny after his transition. If it wasn't for Dr. Sturbaum and her speedy referral to VCA Dallas, Donny would not have been in the best possible place at the time he needed urgent medical attention and end-of-life care. We are heartbroken, and the grief comes in waves. Dr. Sturbaum - you are an Angel. Thank God for people like you. Your deepest and heartfelt condolences mean so much to us. We received your sympathy card and will always remember the lasting impact you had on Donny's life.

I prayed to god the night before for wise counsel, and the Lord sent it to me via Dr. Miller. I felt bad for taking up so much of his time when there were other families waiting in rooms, but I needed the generous gift of Dr. Miller's time to navigate the difficult choice of ending Apple's life, the compassion he showed me (never abandoning me) while making it. His back legs were not functioning properly and he was having difficulty breathing, so I immediately rushed him to BluePearl. After they took him to the back, I waited well over an hour before receiving an estimate for X-rays, pain medication and initial care, which I authorized. The process felt extremely slow while I knew my dog was suffering. The X-rays provided no definitive explanation. I ultimately agreed to approximately $2,500 in care to hospitalize him overnight with IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medication and monitoring because I wanted to give him a chance. Before leaving, my husband and I asked to see him. He was kenneled directly above an extremely aggressive dog that barked and growled continuously. Trying to comfort our critically ill elderly dog in that environment was incredibly upsetting. This ended up being my husband's final time with the dog he had loved for 13 years. It was anything but peaceful. At 6 a.m. the next morning, I was told his blood pressure had become critically low despite treatment. They still did not know why and recommended continued hospitalization, medication to support his blood pressure, oxygen and additional diagnostics--essentially stabilizing him long enough to hopefully determine what was wrong. The updated estimate was approximately $6,000. I could not afford to continue at that cost, especially with no diagnosis or assurance he could recover. I knew I was going to have to return and euthanize my family member of 13 years. When my sister and I arrived, his condition was visibly much worse. He was open-mouth breathing and clearly struggling tremendously. What devastated and angered me was seeing him in that condition when the hospital knew I was returning to say goodbye. I would gladly have authorized and paid specifically for oxygen or any reasonable comfort measure to ease his breathing during his final hours. Instead, oxygen had been presented as part of the larger continued-treatment estimate, and I was never offered a separate comfort-care option before his euthanasia. Watching him struggle left me wondering how long he had been in that state and why more could not have been done simply to keep him comfortable at the end of his life. The lack of sensitivity surrounding his death made an unbearable situation worse. While my sister and I were in the hospital area crying over him and preparing to say goodbye, staff nearby were chatting and laughing. The veterinarian was loudly discussing needing coffee while another staff member offered to make it. I understand veterinary professionals experience death regularly and must continue functioning, but for the family losing their beloved pet, this is not "just another day." Basic discretion and compassion matter. One nurse was genuinely kind, expressed sympathy and helped us through the process. I am extremely grateful to her. Unfortunately, she was the exception in my experience. During the euthanasia, the veterinarian briefly explained what would happen, administered the medication while I held my dog and my sister and I were completely devastated, and then simply left the room. I did not experience any meaningful expression of sympathy from her. The kind nurse later returned and helped us afterward. Afterward, there was no follow-up call or personal acknowledgment of our loss from the hospital. When my dog's ashes were returned, the envelope included generic grief brochures, but no sympathy card or personal message. I have previously received more compassion after euthanizing a pet at a veterinary office I had never even visited before. I understand emergency veterinary medicine is expensive and doctors cannot guarantee outcomes. But this was my 13-year-old dog and a member of my family. I went to this hospital desperate to save him and spent thousands of dollars trying to give him a chance. Yet from the estimates and escalating costs while he was critically ill to the lack of personal acknowledgment after his death, the entire experience felt painfully transactional. At times, I felt more like I was trying to buy a used car than desperately trying to save--and ultimately say goodbye to--a beloved member of my family. When it became clear I was going to lose him, what I needed--beyond medical care--was compassion, sensitivity, clear communication and a sense that his comfort and dignity still mattered. That was not how I experienced his final hours. This was one of the worst days of my life, and I will carry this experience with me for the rest of it. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hospital.

Unfortunately the outcome was not what we hoped for, but we are incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Novikoff and the entire team. From the moment we arrived, everyone treated Zeus and our family with kindness, patience, and respect. Dr. Novikoff took the time to clearly explain everything that was happening and walked us through each step so we fully understood our options. We never felt rushed and it was clear that everyone genuinely cared about Zeus and about helping our family through a very difficult moment. Losing a dog that has been part of your family for so many years is incredibly hard, but the team at Revive treated Zeus with dignity and compassion the entire time. We are truly grateful for the care they provided and for the kindness they showed our family. I would highly recommend Dr. Novikoff and the team at Revive in Prosper to anyone needing emergency veterinary care. Thank you for taking such good care of our boy Zeus.

In both cases Revive and their amazing staff saved our babies! The team is communicative, compassionate, and most importantly, the quality of care is top notch. Emergency vet treatment is never cheap, but bottom line is this team saved our puppies. In the 2nd case they showed a ton of grace and gave me the flexibility of leaving just a small deposit for what we knew was going to be a big bill. I never once had to sit on hold when I called, and the best part is you can go and visit your pet anytime. Thank you from our family ( and Karma and Pumpkin)!

Everyone seemed very eager to help and made th process smoothe. We liked the open concept because we were able to see the care provided not only to our dog but to the other pets as well. All of the staff worked as such a great team, and the communication between them seemed flawless. We were seen by Dr. Majors, and our tech was Hannah. Both of them were very reassuring and treated Florence like their own. VEG is a very pet family oriented vet, seeing us as a whole and not just a couple people with an animal. When it came time for the price, we were met with such nice transparency, and the DVM was honest with what she recommended and did not try to make us agree to anything that was unnecessary while also making sure we had the option to take all the tests if we so desired. I would absolutely recommend this emergency vet. We have been to another in Carrollton which did not come close to the level of care we experienced here. Thank you!

Although I kept repeating that this is not a foreign body as this is the 3rd time it's happened in the last 6 months! They weren't listening to anything that I said! No compassion. No warmth. No answers! They threw a bill in my face before even discussing a plan! I had to pay in advance for treatments that hadn't been done and didn't even start for about an hour into the visit! Was there for 6+ hours to have everything blamed on how long the radiologist was taking. Personal conversations complaining about clients, vet techs using their phones while patients needed attending to, eating their food next to the triage table! At the end of my 1,500 visit I had more concerns for my kitty than I did before I even walked in the door. When it was come time to be discharged the tech that was assisting us left without letting anyone know what was going on and they just looked really dysfunctional. The doctor didn't even acknowledge us as we walk out. Not even a you're welcome to our thank you! Unprofessional, unorganized, no compassion or care about the clients or patients. I would never recommend this hospital even if it was the last place on earth! Update: Two days later. Called and spoke to Cheyenne about our experience. Felt heard, felt compassion and felt true concern about myself and my kitty. She advised she would call me back. Instead Dr. Hoge called me back and was very apologetic and showed a great deal of concern for our experience. I believe that the team we had this horrific encounter with creates a bad name for this ER and for the veterinary field as a whole. I appreciate the sincere apology I received by management and wanted to add that to my review. They both showed care and compassion and that is what it's all about. If I had walked in the door when they were there I would have had a totally different visit and my kitty would have been taken care of! They are what makes veterinary practice great!
