This review is only for their goat Karahi. Meat was smelly and probably stale. I took a Nan bite with sauce from the bottom of the karahi and it smelled and tasted like blood. Probably it was the meat but could be the metal Karahi itself not washed carefully. They need to pay attention to what they are doing. read more

I love Pakistani food (which is NOT the same as Indian (tho similar), nor the same as all the "kabob" joints you see in every plaza, those are mostly Iranian, Persian, Afghan, etc... definitely NOTHING WITH FLAVOR!!)... The depth of flavors, richness of ht ePakistani menu and way they prepare dishes is just different and much better than anything else in tne Middle East. I great up going to Pakistan often and have eaten amazing dishes made by amazing cooks, so I'm I've got a great base to compare what I eat in the US to. Allll that being said - This place is pretty good! I only tried two things; shami kabob and samosa chaat. I was incredibly happy to see a menu with shami kabob on it, as this is NOT normally on menus in the US. It's part of one of my favorite Pakistani "street foods" which they literally sell at street vendors and put on bread and call a burger. It's chick pea flour and a minced meat, in this case it was chicken. It typically has loads of amazing spices and great heat too. In this case, it was on the not-so-spicy side, but was still good. Their samosa chaat was decent... I've had better, but the choley (or channa) in it was really good. I did notice the food being delivered to other diners in the restaurant and it looked and smelled great. If I came back, I'd definitely try their curry, perhaps Karahi and definitely their naan, as the naan looked perfectly light, yet smelled amazing. Service was just "ok" though... there was only one person working the dining room and they were really busy. I will definitely say, if you're in the mood for a great curry, kabob, Middle Eastern, etc experience - Try this place. read more

It's not Indian food. It is some middle eastern people named it Indian. Food was horrible. Overly spiced, too much oily, and re-heated and gave the preserved food. Ambience & Service: This is their second location in the DMV area and I must say the ambience is a huge upgrade compared to their Arlington location. This location has fine dining with spacious seating, perfect for small and large families. Very friendly and accommodating people. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for vegetarians as there are minimal/basic options. For meat eaters there are lot of varieties and they will enjoy both the taste and quantity. Lakshmi Chowk is a hidden treasure in Herndon, serving authentic Pakistani cuisine at reasonable prices. I have been five times now - twice by myself and three times bringing friends and family to discover this excellent food. They serve the best beef nihari I have ever had and the naan is soft, fresh and delicious. Servers notice when you need them and cone to the table, but they let you have space too. The main dining area is lovely and I've also met managers and chefs there, all of whom are courteous and friendly. read more

I went their with 3 of other people and I disappointed on their food quality and taste. We order few items in the menu and patiently wait for our food, they presented food very well but when I taste the quality .... Food was prepared in great hurry and chef didn't even care about quality of taste and mixing spices with meat and vegetables! Taste like everything mixed together and put that on fire and wait for certain time and took off from fire ! I ask for the manger and luckily the owner was on the floor and he defend his food and quality with the same unethical explanations ! That make me LOL Salt was bit higher quantity in every dish ! Not really sure if others have been reviewing the correct place, but I just can't believe that all the high ratings are for Lakshmi. We ordered: +the Veggie Samosas - comes with 2 pieces with a spicy creamy cilantro-jalapeno yogurt-based sauce and a sweet tamarind-like sauce (the sauces were actually good); the samosas were not freshly fried, and these were served at room temperature, borderline cold; didn't really make any sense, as the time it took for these to come out, they could have just dropped it in the fryer? +Butter Chicken - this had absolutely no flavor and was super bland; the texture was kind of gross, like a dish of haleem gone wrong - it was really one of the worst butter chicken dishes we've had; it was also extremely oily; there was also that uncomfortableness of having the server's phalanges in the sauce that made us not want to eat it even more +Bone-In Chicken Karahi - this had an extreme off-putting odor to it; I realized that it was most likely due to the fact that they did not wash the iron bowl completely from prior preparations - prior in serving our chicken version, it definitely had goat or a goat-focused dish, as you can see the burnt bits on the side that had a very gamey, rancid, awful smell to it We were never checked in throughout our dining experience. There are also several things of note that can be considered obnoxious: +they automatically provide the table with bottled water, without giving you a choice of going for tap; and, yes, the bottled water is NOT complimentary and they will charge you; pretty shady, don't you think?! If you don't mind tap, be specific in requesting this +they automatically include a 15% gratuity on the check, regardless of your party size; it may be higher if you have a larger group, but with the non-existent service, I can see why this is included in all the checks; this place really seems to try to get away with such practices while nickel-and-dime-ing you with every chance that they can get +the staff does not know or is not conscientious of how to handle and serve the ordered items - ours had his right thumb, taking a nice dip, in the butter chicken entree, and, of course, no gloves were being worn Also, the prices were just over-the-top, with no quality control and flavors to back it up. The place itself was brightly decorated, with lit-up picture frames and blinking chandeliers. No dice, Lakshmi - I would love to say that I was glad in trying your place out, but your place was truly awful and so gross. Really. Very nice eatery, with an oddly placed swing at the front door that somehow works. I highly recommend their biriyani. It's warming, and the spices are a great addition to the meal. The dudh rooh afza is a refreshing beverage perfect for a hot summer day. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and the speed with which it was provided, especially given that it was a deshi establishment. This place was recommended to us by our cousin. This is a Pakistani restaurant (the owner is from Lahore), and is famous for the Nihiri, Haleem, Lamb Chops etc. As a vegetarian, I wasn't sure what I would get there. We went there on a weekend, and they had their weekend special 'Halwa Puri', which is vegetarian. There is a few appetizers that you can order as well. On weekdays, they have a vegetarian dish daily. So don't go just by the menu. Call them and ask what vegetarian dish they have prepared for the day. The staff is very friendly there. They were a bit slow getting us our water (I asked three times, and finally just got up and asked for it again). But the food comes out really fast. The staff gave us recommendations on what to order, and were very nice. This restaurant has been open for a year now, and is a direct competition to the other Pakistani restaurant we like, Tooso. Here is what I ordered: - Chaat Papri: I wasn't a fan of this chaat. It had too much yoghurt for my liking. Not the typical papri chaat you get in traditional Indian restaurants. - Halwa Puri: This comes with chana (chickpeas), potato bhuji (dry seasoned potatoes), and halwa (sweet dessert). They were out of potato bhuji that day, so they game me extra chana. It was delicious. I could only eat one puri (the order comes with two big size puris). - Seasoned Fries: These fries are delicious....just order this one instead of the regular bland fries. - Falooda: This has less rosewater, so it doesn't look as pink. But the kulfi in it was yummy. Overall, we loved this place. We like that there is plenty of seating available here, unlike at Tooso. The staff is very warm and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this place for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. My husband absolutely loved the Beef Nihari and Goat Paaya. Go check it out!!! read more

I'm writing this review as we all know New Year Eve and New Year days are very important family gatherings days, and most of us taking our families out for lunch and dinner so please consider my next sentence. *DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT* if you don't want to ruins your New Year Eve and Day. After having lunch respectfully I paid the bill and also never mentioned anything to anyone while my wife and I had a very bad experience. The rice which was Beryani was two or three days old and Chapli Kabob for both of us Checkin and Beef were both from 2 or 3 days ago. And I'll share the picture of the bill that how much we were charged also the images of the food. My husband just picked up our food order that I placed online for 7pm pick up. He picked up the order and walked out the door until he realized they didn't give him our 2 kashmeri chais that we had also ordered. He went back in to ask them for it and they informed him they didn't have any in stock. So he asked for a refund, which they give him (shorted) in cash. Then the person also realized he had forgotten the kheer on our bill so he handed that to him as well. Come to find out that he actually gave him ras malai (which I did NOT want, I wanted the kheer I had paid for). Ordered Nehari on Sunday 2/18/24, it had so much salt that immediately had to spit it out. They didn't know how to make Nehari. I would suggest never order Nehari from this restaurant. They have no quality control system in place. We ate chicken, Lamb and beef ground kabobs on Friday 2/16/24, we like kabobs and that is why ordered again on Sunday with big disappointment, toxic salty Nehari, tasteless lamb kabob and just OK chicken bone in Kabobs. Owner who was sitting in the restaurant on last Sunday and there were four to five people on the front but no one made an effort to quality taste food so it will not be such a disappointment as I had on Sunday. Mr Owner keep an order in your restaurant, write down the amount of salt and other spices for easy access for the five dollar an hour worker. Ok read more

We decided to dine in after ordering. We had friends with us and the food we ordered wasn't good quality. I noticed they aren't consistent with their flavors. The goat karahi was smelly and didn't taste fresh. The naan was over cooked very crispy not soft at all. I'm not sure what we are there but at night my pregnant wife and I had severe stomach ache and heart burn. We won't be returning. We thought this was a good place to get desi food but there are better places that won't cause that severe pain we had. Also they didn't even give us all the sides with our dishes. We spent so much and they forgot to give us our sides with all the kabob orders. What kind of service is that? Really expected food to taste good dining in but it was horrible. Our cousins and I ordered halwa puri this past Friday morning for take out. Everyone was really impressed with the cholay, puri and most of all the halwa which wasn't too sweet. For many, this was the closest Pakistani Breakfast you can get in the DMV area.
