Ordering through the website is a joke. It is very wonky and unreliable. The customer service is an even bigger joke. Getting in touch with anyone for help took forever and then they gave me the wrong order. They incorrectly charged me a rush fee, which they said they would take off and didn't. So, they're not honest in their business dealings. Lastly, the spring fling cake was just mediocre. Nothing special about it and definitely didn't taste like the one from The Market. So this is kind of a different bakery. Just so you know, there is no actual store you could go into and see the products. That does not exist at Lala's bakery. You order everything online and hope for the best. You place your order and the day that you want it and you pick it up I believe it's after 11 and hope it's done. I ordered a smaller cake online and that was that. I didn't really hear back from the bakery, I wanted to go in hopefully to see what they had but again it's not a store. It's basically Lala's bakery. They make the cakes there and you go through the back of the establishment and someone will come out and bring you your cake. Their cakes are great so if you don't mind not knowing anything, just trusting that what you order is what you get you'll be fine. They're delicious and the other bakery items I hear from my other friends are just out of this world good. read more

The former bakers at The Market have opened their own bakery where they make the famous "Spring Fling" cakes as well as many others. They definitely make cakes just like the market. I was so sad that the market closed. Spring fling cake was literally my favorite cake in the world, so much, I used it for my wedding cake - Which was a hit for almost everyone! Thank heavens Lala bakery has come to the rescue with the same bakers from the Market. I used their online order request around 4-5 pm on Friday, I did not hear back from them so I contacted them via yelp messenger to make sure they received my request. My order did not go through, but luckily they checked their email or yelp regularly and that helped. My only suggestion for improving this process (since their orders are placed only online), is perhaps use a program (ie. google forms) that allows the clients to also receive a copy of the order request so we know the order is processed, especially since the website stated specifically not to resubmit any request to avoid duplicates. Also, it would help if the website stated Lala bakery will call you directly to invoice you, and I did give my credit card info via the phone. (I do wish they took another payment service). However, that said, they did reply promptly and I did obtain my spring fling cupcakes for a family dinner - which was an absolute hit. My grandmother in law, who is a baker herself (mostly for pies), said this was the best cupcake she's ever had in her life. :D Spring fling, for those who don't know, is a zucchini cake (you cannot taste the vegetable, but it makes the cake more dense in a good way and moisture) and the filling/icing is cream cheese based and not too sweet (which always drives me nuts when the icing is way too sweet). There are some fresh fruit on top as well. I have yet to meet anyone who did not like their spring fling cake. My husband (who doesn't even like desserts) have agreed to get a spring fling cake every time we come back to colorado. So Lala bakery - please please please do not close. When looking for a cake, I could always go to Sams club or king Soopers. Although they are very generic. Until I found Lala's bakery, Now I have to look no farther. A kind and friendly staff, as well as amazing owners. They were very helpful in helping me plan a beautiful and fun birthday cake. I could tell they put a lot of time and effort into this cake. Very fair and reasonable prices. I also ordered some cupcakes of their spring fling and Mixed berry. They were all very rich, moist and delicious but most of all the very very fresh fruit. Not really expecting it, I paid $65 for a cake that literally had to put in the trash. I don't know why my name wasn't on their list and I had to show them the payment confirmation email and she just said, "ok I'll find any cake in the fridge for her". Did their online ordering through their website since that is the only way they take orders via email. I had emailed them earlier this week on 9am Thursday to place a cake (Spring Fling) order since on their website they only needed 24 hours in advance or one to two days prior before the event. I needed the cake for Saturday, but never received no email confirmation or invoice for the cake. This bakery should establish a better way to order cakes through them rather than just emails as emails can get lost or sent into the junk inbox. This bakery is extremely yummy and everyone loved the cupcakes and cake. I do wish you could call to make an order because any changes you'd want to make to the cakes or cupcakes has to be done by email. Great spin off from The Market on Larimer St. Their spring fling cake looks identical to the legendary spring fling cake from The Market. It's beautiful. However the cake itself is not consistent with fruit inside and often very dry. I've purchased spring fling cakes from here three times and only one out of three was the cake moist and delicious. Until the cake recipe and the bake times are perfected I'll be buying elsewhere. read more

So delicious I'm picking one up to take with me on my move next week. Wonderful flavor, texture, and fresh perfectly ripe fruit in it. I was so relieved to hear that the famous Denver spring fling cake was back via Lala's bakery. I ordered the 9" for my partner's birthday and it was wonderful. The cake was even better than when I bought it the year before at the market!
