My initial experience left me frustrated, and I had given a negative review. However, after receiving a personal call from Dr. Lim, I've changed my perspective. His treatment itself was excellent, and I truly appreciate the care I received. Unfortunately, the billing process was disappointing. During my root canal removal, I was told by the staff that the consultation fee would be covered by my insurance. I paid the remaining amount--over a thousand dollars--and thought everything was settled. A few weeks later, I received a call from the office stating that I now owed the consultation fee, which was frustrating since I was previously told it would be covered. I was later informed that the issue stemmed from an incorrect billing code being submitted. Understandably, this left me feeling uneasy. What changed everything was a call I received today from Dr. Lim himself. He apologized sincerely for the confusion and explained that he is working to improve the system to avoid these kinds of issues in the future. His call showed me that he genuinely cares about his patients and their experience--not just medically, but holistically. Because of that conversation, I now feel confident recommending Dr. Lim. EXCELLENT ENDODONTIST I cracked my filling/tooth. There wasn't any sensitivity until recently and it needed immediate attention. My dentist referred me to her specialist for consultation and possible root canal. Yikes. The procedure does not sound fun... drill hole, clean area, kill nerve, clean nerve out, fill empty nerve space. Then you hear about other people's horror stories of how much it hurt. Don't believe everything you hear. NO PAIN, JUST A NUMB FACE! Location is in MiraMar/MiraMesa and his office is very new with newer technology. Everything you sign is digital via ipad. I sat in the patience chair, xray on the tooth and nerve were taken (before + after), and the tooth was ready to be handled. My experience was painless! But I do have a high threshold for pain. Usually at dental appointments the most painful part of any procedure is the injection of local anesthesia; Dr. Lam was quick and graceful with the needles. I was injected several times (4x times before I stopped feeling anything) and none hurt. He engages in genuine conversation with his patients and it made me feel even more relaxed. After 10 minutes they begun working on the tooth. From the reflection of the light's cover I can see them go to work on the tooth. Very interesting. About 30 minutes in, I was done. I was referred by my Dentist to have my son seen for a root canal consultation just to err on the side of caution because of the way my son's tooth was presented on current X-rays. It was a fairly quick appointment. After going over the panoramic x-rays taken at this office, doing an assessment on the tooth, and giving me his expert opinion on the matter, Dr. Chittaphong concluded that my son did not need a root canal. He did mention that my son's tooth may not be "aesthetically pleasing" but in pathological terms, not necessary. I have to make an emphasized note that Dr. Chittaphong was very informative, professional, and made us both feel at ease. Both of his staff Briana and Cecile were really sweet. Even though an Endodontic procedure was not necessary, I'm happy that my Dentist referred us to him and see for myself, why he was highly recommended. He is amazing!! He truly cares for his patients and treats us like family. After going to a previous endodontist that suggested I have my tooth be extracted or find a superhero, I found my root canal super hero! The root canal I had done when I was 13 (15 years ago) apparently had failed and got infected. He was able to retreat it and found 3 canals that he removed. I felt no pain! Not even the numbing process. Now we wait 6 months to see if it heals properly (I had bone destruction) to see if he can crown it according to how my body will heal. Dr Chittaphong is phenomenal! I saw him for a redo of a root canal I had 11 years ago that has recently become infected. I was terrified. Literally shaking in chair. I didn't feel a single thing. Not one! Even the shots which are the usually the most painful part didn't hurt! He reassured me the entire procedure on how things were going. He was even knowledgeable about Tourette's syndrome (something I have) and understood why I couldn't use a mouth guard because of it. Great Staff! I was a guinea pig for a new staff member- and still everything was done professionally. Dr Chittaphong is very knowledgeable, patient and friendly - guided me through everything. Told me when to expect 'what' during the whole procedure- and very attentive at your pain levels and body cues. Very Clean and well put together office... which told me that these guys look like they know what they are doing - and the procedure confirmed it. Appointment was easy to make, and even though I was late, they took me in and took care of me! Gave me a prescription and emailed me instructions on post-root canal care. Reviewed all my insurance information and confirmed all the details before doing anything. If I had to go back to get another one done, definitely would be with this doc. I have to say that Dr. Lam was amazing. First, he was very patient and had a very calm demeanor, despite my level of anxiety.. More importantly, he was really excellent at performing my root canal. Seriously - Dr. Chittaphong is amazing. I went to his office because I needed a root canal and I had few done before in my life, that was the best experience I have ever had. I went there and was all stressed and panicked because I do not deal good with pain or when anything is done with my teeth. I read all the great reviews and I was thinking, well they didn't feel pain, but I am so sensitive I won't believe until I actually see it happening. It was TOTALLY painless. Not only the whole root canal, but the local anesthesia that would always hurt me while injected I did not feel ANY pain. I am from country where the whole root canal cost about 12 times less, but I feel like if I ever needed it again (hopefully not) I'd still pick Dr. Chittaphong instead of doing it back there. I am beyond happy to get treated by Doctor Lam. I've had plenty of bad experiences with other dentisits (had 2 root canals a few years ago) and because of that I am afraid of getting a root canal done again. I waited over 3 months to do the appointment but I couldn't wait any longer. The pain was getting worse and I had to take lots of pain killers. I was referrend to Dr. Lam by my dentist and all her staff raved about this place. Now I know why.... I had a pain-free experience. I am a big chicken with dentists in general and had always heard horrible things about root canals. Like "I'd rather be tied to a stake and burned alive than have a root canal."-- that kind of thing.
