A couple weeks ago I had a sudden pain in tooth #31. I went to my regular dentist who informed me that I would most likely need a root canal. I was that a$$hole that showed up at closing time needing an emergency procedure because my pain was unbearable. Dr.Kamrath and her team were excellent and squeezed me in. I've always had MAJOR anxiety at any dental facility and I'm very sensitive to dental work. I was Absolutley blown away by how she took her time slowly placing the oral injections and explained every single part of what was happening. Part of my anxiety is not knowing what is going on and she eased my discomfort. This place rocks! No one wants a root canal, but they make it fun, and pretty much pain free. This is the third time I've used them, and it's been 13 years since last time. I watched TV on the ceiling above me during the whole procedure! The doc's and assistant's were very verbally clear with everything! Never happy to need them , but these people were all you could hope for, from the girl at the front doing the paperwork.....all digital btw.( It was a lot like checking in at a hotel. )...to the doctor and her assistants. Every aspect of my visit here far exceeded my expectations. My initial call was answered by someone knowledgeable and friendly. All of my questions were answered thoughtfully and thoroughly. I arrived for my appointment and was both checked in taken back promptly. In the couple of minutes I was waiting to be taken back, I looked around, and the office was spotless. Not a speck of dust I could see on anything. There was plenty of air purification going on as well. This level of cleanliness was very nice to see. The dental tech who took me back was friendly and did my imaging quickly and efficiently. Like out front, I noticed all of the equipment to be very clean and in excellent condition. I notice things like smudges on cabinets constantly (I am a bit OCD in that way), but everything here was in top shape. Hats off to whomever does their cleaning! The Dr. came over a couple of minutes after the tech was done and asked me lots of questions and listened intently to my answers. She asked applicable follow up questions and provided thoughtful answers. My exam and treatment were provided with care and to my complete satisfaction. The Dr. was absolutely wonderful to deal with. While this was not a place I wanted to be, the entire team made me feel welcome, cared for, and in highly capable hands. I have had the best experience with this office several times. Let me first say the staff is incredibly compassionate to your pain, needs, time, etc. Unfortunately I have had to have several different types of procedures done, from root canals to a tooth extraction. They offer a sedation if you are worried about the experience. I just finished an hour root canal on a back molar, I slept through without sedation, not feeling a thing. They make you so comfortable and make sure it's painless. I had a sudden pain in a tooth hit me on a Friday, I called my own dentist, along with 6 others and their backups. NO one would fit me in for an emergency to see what was going on. Desperate.... I called this office unsure what to do before the weekend. They said to come in right then. It was later in the afternoon, the Dr eased the pain and did some work on it to relieve me for a week till I could get a root canal. If you dread oral surgery of any kind, this is definitely the office to go to for the best OVERALL EXPERIENCE. read more

My experience at Rancho Bernardo Endodontics for a root canal was outstanding. Dr Kamrath was professional, kind, and ready to answer any of my many questions. After a referral from the dentist, I was admitted quickly, diagnosed, and treated the same day for a completely dead tooth that had been extremely painful. The procedure itself was without incident and without pain once the anaesthetic took hold. Camille at the front desk carefully explained the financials beforehand. Terri F, another Yelp-er had written a review about Rancho Bernard Endodontics, talking about how great her experience was with them. So, knowing I needed a root canal that I had been putting off for months, I sent Teri a Yelp message asking for more details. She wrote back with incredible details about the office and Dentists there. Based on Teri's recommendation I made an appointment with Dr Corene Poelman! I've had a few root canals in the past, and without exception I can only describe them as medieval. I told Renee- their Office Manager about my past experiences and that I was pretty apprehensive. Renee was very understanding and assured me that this would be a totally different experience for me. From the moment I arrived for my appointment, Renee, Camille (Chair side Technician) and Dr Poelman were amazing. Clearly, they've had patients like me before, because they were extremely compassionate and understanding. Camille explained everything they would be doing to make the right diagnosis, and after my x-ray Dr Poelman came in, introduced herself and told me the treatment plan including plan A, B & C in case things looked different once they got into my tooth. Between Camille and Dr. Poelman they took a good 30+ minutes explaining and reassuring me before anything started. Renee came back to speak with me with costs for treatment, so I knew everything upfront. Once they got going, Dr Poelman took at least 15 minutes with the "dreaded injections" which I can honestly say I barely felt. She wanted to make sure I was totally numb before she did anything. She also kept checking on me throughout the 1 hour procedure, which was different than I've experienced with most dentists of any kind. Her chair side Technician Camille was also terrific! Dr Poelman was very gentle, and even spoke softly to me and Camille to keep the mood in the room calm and relaxed. It was over before I knew it! Unfortunately, I have to go back for another visit because of the amount of infection in the root. But Dr Poelman assures me that it will be a much easier visit since all the nerve in the tooth has been removed. At least I'm not dreading that visit in 3 weeks. read more

Truly exceptional! Dr. Poelman worked on my husbands' teeth recently and he was beyond thrilled with the treatment he received. Well, as excited as you can be with just having complex dental work performed! lol He found Dr. Poelman to be professional, personable, knowledgable, highly skilled, and nurturing. Pros: Very pleased with the restoration done to an old root canal. The office and reception staff were all very polite, relaxed and genuinely seem to want to be there. Dr Heidi, though, was just brutal! I kid, she was brutally nice :) I had 3D scans taken the first day, all the x-rays explained in detail (when in doubt, I asked them to be explained). Actual root canal and post treatment was remarkably painless. I have had a few root canals in the past and I wasn't looking forward to this one, but Dr Heidi was really patient. I felt the procedure was not rushed at all, something I really appreciated. The actual tooth was handled with care. A good experience overall. Cons: The office could be a tad tricky to find the first time. Its located a bit inside in a group of building complex. If this is your first time, take 5 mins extra in your schedule. I needed it. A bit pricey for my budget, but it is what it is. However, this will be the first place I recommend to my friends and family should they need help. read more

5 Stars and five reasons why. 1. They had me in the chair 20 minutes after my family dentist gave me the bad news that it was root canal time. A hard kind of root canal. 2. Covid aware from the minute you walk in the door, but without being overly sensitive to it. They did the right things without it seeming burdensome. There should be a separate category for business was that do this well. Like 6 Stars. 3. Relaxing waiting room, but rarely used due to great scheduling. One other person there in my two visits and they were masked up and I was able to wait outside. 4. The procedure went off with zero pain, no issues and with full understanding of my weirdness (I can't hear verbal descriptions of actual procedures without getting weak). I told the Doctor that I trusted her and to just assume I would agree with her professional opinion. She agreed and I went to sleep and woke up with a complicated root canal completed. Zero pain. Unbelievable. 5. Now for the best part and let's face it, the most important part of a medical relationship. The front office staff and not-Doctors were absolutely the best humans in what could have been a tense ordeal. They were funny, but directive. Kind, but clear when they really needed me to do something. Mostly they were accurate with what was going to happen and always they put me at ease. I could name names, but everyone deserve anonymity unless they tell me to add their names after I bring presents to the office and they have read this. So while the Doctors may have been expert and accomplished, the front office staff were even better. Like excellence and superior fighting to see whose best. read more

I arrived for an urgently needed root canal on my "lucky #13" this afternoon, and Dr. Kamrath and the support team at RBE were fantastic! They fit me into their schedule with late notice on a Friday, and graciously welcomed me to their practice. They performed efficient and targeted diagnostics (CBCT is amazing), explained their findings, and outlined the procedure, and then put me at ease during the whole process. Truly expert work, with a 100% patient-centered style. I've had at least 3 root canals, and I won't say I enjoyed getting this done, but it was the best experience of this kind that I have EVER had. I arrived in agony, and left feeling soothed and cared for, and completely pain free. No joke, if all dentist visits were like this, I'd be happy to go to the dentist more often. read more

They have a new system that pushes the medication through the root canals and reaches spots that would make this type of procedure normally more difficult. This practice is a true blessing. I had to basically have an emergency root canal. My dentist called Rancho Bernardo Endodontics and they were kind enough to fit me in the same day. I had been in pain for 2 months thinking it was just my new crown that needed to be readjusted. This office is amazing. Renee was wonderful in discussing the billing and welcoming me to the office. I have anxiety with getting dental work, and so I took medicine from the dentist office that calmed me down, and I actually fell asleep while she was doing the work! i have had root canal surgeries from 2 other endodontists . but i've had several over a few years now from dr. heidi kamrath and she just finished 3 on my front teeth yesterday. she never disappoints me. the long proceedure was totally painless as always. by the time i arrived home, all of the lidocaine had left me able to be "normal" again. i didn't need any tylenol.i live in an assisted living facility & hear the usual horror stories from other residents but they were amazed that i just had 3 "canals" done with no discomfort! i sit in the chair & have 2 pretty women caring & pampering me & renee at the front desk is a very pleasant & efficient treat also. i was called away and not able to finish my review but reading the ones others have written i strongly agree with their comments. thanks heidi and your staff very much. read more

I had a root canal at a previous dentist in another country and my dentist thought that perhaps the root canal would need redoing. So I came here. I cannot recall which dentist I saw however I was impressed, they took xrays and went over all of the options. They were allowing me to make a decision and felt that actually it would be best just to let the tooth rest a further 6 months and see if I had any problems. As it turned out the root canal was absolutely fine and I didnt require another root canal. I am thankful they were so thorough and were not just out to get money from a root canal whcih was not necessary. read more
