After 6 visits, the auto key works! The staff were courteous & professional but during prior visits they gaslighted me by holding the key in their hands as they approached the car & then told me 'see it works.' Mirrors & doors activate, when key remains in one's pocket. Visit 3, they installed new batteries (though new key should've had fresh ones already). Visit 4, Lamar ordered a new key. I was told new key's ready but it wasn't when I arrived on Visit 5 be THE locksmith wasn't there. So, on Visit 6, I after waiting 1 hour for service, was given & tested the new key. It works. Friends told me, afterward, keys shld be made by dealer. Lesson learned bc, saving $150 wasn't worth 6 visits. However, Lamar has decent customer serv, convenient shop hours & location, and is likely proficient for facility locks & keys, and non-computerized vehicle keys. Quick service when I was desperate. There I was just finishing work for the week, thinking I need to go out for a walk to shake this Corona stress, and rushing to get outside before the sun went down. I leave quickly and instantly realize, I've forgotten something. I pat my pockets and realize I forgot the house keys. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. They are incapable of making keys for major brands. I paid for a key 3 times from this place. The 1st time I paid for a remote key and it was so calculated wrong, computer chip messed up it would turn my car on without me knowing and burn up my battery. I went back 2 more times. I had to buy a new battery because of the faulty key chip remake that caused my battery to burn out. I was stranded in a parking lot AT NIGHT IN DANGER for 4 hours because my car would not turn over, even though I had a new battery. The TOW thought it was something else but it was the FUP KEY. I had my car towed to DARCRS FORD on November 2021 and it was the key that caused problems with the ignition, it cost me 700$. They refused to acknowledge what happened or give me my money back. The person who was making the keys seemed to be mellowed out. I wrote the Better Business Burea about it and Lamar Locksmith refused to answer the BBB QUERY. . The BBB said they had a lot of complaints from them and was going to post my complaint anyway. I have written the ATTORNEY GENERAl, and I'm waiting to file a lawsuit when the MD Judicial system isn't backed up as it is. These people are dangerous. I was stranded and it was scary, They are NOT sophisticated to make keys for high-end cars. I have an F150 Lariat and they jacked up my system with a badly programmed chip. My roadside assistance company sent them over to me in order to fix an issue where my key fob had broken in half - leaving me with a metal key but no transponder and therefore, no ability to drive my car. First of all, they were 45 min late arriving after giving me an ETA of one hour. And the guy came for a lockout when I had explicitly explained to roadside assistance that I needed a new key cut. Fine, things get lost in translation, no big deal. Not the end of the world. Later, I called asking about an ETA when they would arrive. They said they would have the key made the same day, but I just needed a clearer timeframe bc I had to leave for work. They told me to wait 25 min later, and surprisingly, I had a key in hand so that was unexpected. The tech was professional and courteous and the people were responsive. Now, I'm sitting in a grocery store parking lot locked out of my own vehicle because the transponder works......but NOT the metal attachment. I have essentially paid 180 dollars for a key that ONLY works if I want to drive my vehicle, but not if I want to lock or unlock it. I did not test it in the door before hand because I ASSUMED the key would work both in the door and in the ignition. My mistake I guess. I should not have to keep a broken bit of a key to get in my car and keep a key I spent 180 to drive with. Even worse, my headlights were on and so my battery died in the parking lot, requiring ANOTHER roadside assistance call to get the battery jumped. Not their fault ofc but also an end result of me not being able to enter my own vehicle. I wish I had made roadside assistance tow me to the dealership. Don't waste your time with this company. The lock had a mechanical flaw and he removed it to ensure that the problem didn't happen again.
