I chose this place last minute for my wedding and everyone did a beautiful job I just have a couple complaints. I told them before they even touched my hair that my hair doesn't hold curls very good but that's what I wanted and they assured me that they would hold. She did my hair half up and curled the rest and by time I was done getting makeup the curls were out so she curled It again before I left and by time I got home the curls were out so my bridesmaid had to redo my whole head and it held all night. also my black daughter couldn't get makeup done because they didn't have that shade of makeup which was very disappointing. also two of the girls hair was falling out a few hours into the wedding because they didn't pin it up good enough. over all they did a good job makeup was on point and the staff was very friendly. Found a Groupon deal for this place for a keratin treatment. I called the place and spoke with her and make an appointment. The place is stunning inside. Turns out the lady I was speaking with also did my hair and is the owner. All I have to say is she is one of the friendliest people I ever met. I have EXTREMELY thick, course and long hair and it's difficult for me to go to a salon. I've been going to the same place in NY for 10 years but I had no choice but to find a place in MA to do my hair this time. I could not be happier with the results and the treatment I received.... also the prices where amazing! I would go again in a heartbeat. It also was raining that day and she put something over my head and followed me into the car to make sure I was okay. Above and beyond service. Absolutely destroyed my hair. I went from white blonde to pumpkin orange and the owner of the salon literally said I cannot help you. After she destroyed my hair I worked hard for. I went here to get a brazilian blowout with the Groupon. Now, I have never had one before and so I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but I asked for it to be as straight as possible. After the appointment, my hair was pretty damn straight! Then I was told to wait 24 hours to wash it out and put on a mask. I used all of the mask, they included a to go cup, but it didn't fully cover my hair and I wasn't feeling confident. I washed it out and my hair responded and completely curled up again, as frizzy as it has been my whole life. Again, I don't know if this is their fault or if my hair just doesn't react well to the treatment, but I expected for it to stay straight and soft and not frizzy for at least a couple of weeks. I enjoyed the experience and the women are very nice, the product just wasn't what I was advertised. I had also bought the aftercare and used that, still didn't help. read more

This was my first time visiting Lamare, and my stylist Carrie went out of her way to make me comfortable throughout my entire appointment. Prior to this appointment, I had never dyed my hair in my life so I wasn't sure what I wanted or what to expect. Carrie did a great job understanding what it was I was looking for, and showed me a number of pictures to confirm our shared vision. I had a disappointing experience here. I never leave bad reviews but honestly feel it necessary to do so in this case. In summary, I asked owner for caramel highlights and she couldn't deliver. She did ask me to come back for a redo, and nothing changed and all she said was 'well I can't help you'. I paid over $300, and tipped her well. She tried to convince me she gave me what I asked for. If you compared the 5 pictures of caramel highlights that I showed her with what I left with, both times, you would know what I'm talking about. I visited another stylist recently and she said they were dark, red/burgundy and definitely not enough. There weren't even any around my face! I did like the cut she gave me but the highlights were a big fail and she could not admit it. Recently I asked for a refund for just the highlight portion (she did both foils and balayage, why??), called and left two messages with the receptionist who said she would definitely inform the owner of my call. I waited another week and no return call. I cannot recommend this salon. read more

Extremely rude staff. I booked an appointment for the one day I would be home in MA before leaving for a trip. After driving over an hour from RI to my appointment I was told that it was actually scheduled for the next day. I explained that I needed the appointment for this specific day, had just driven a long distance, and was absolutely positive that I had scheduled it for today. Instead of apologizing for the miscommunication and rescheduling me as well as they could, I was rudely told that this was "clearly my fault" and that I should have known it was for the next day. The two women refused to apologize to me. Really? That is not how you treat a client. I felt attacked by the staff member and got my hair done elsewhere that did a fantastic job. Maybe learn some customer service if you're trying to run a business. Very immature. read more
