My Fiancé and I just returned from a lovely weekend at Lamb's Rest Inn. We stayed in the Lillycot Garden Cottage and it was absolutely perfect. The whole property is set back from the road and feels secluded and private while still being just a mile away from the hustle and bustle of Gruene. The cottage is absolutely adorable. The main house also has guest rooms, but the big deal is their Bistro and common area. The Bistro is accessible 24/7 and has great snacks, coffee, and of course breakfast foods. While feeling lazy we took advantage of one of the puzzles in the common room until ready to explore Gruene in the evening. BTW, I'm totally better at completing puzzles (sorry, love!). Check in was super easy. This was just what we needed to get away from it all, and we'll be back again! read more

We stayed in Peggotty's Seaside Room over the summer. After reading of lots of online reviews, we chose this one because it overlooked the river, had a pool, was in town (I would still say you need to drive everywhere, but it does cut down on drive time), and had excellent reviews. It's small touches and attention to detail that really make me feel special, and they had those, both in our room (a dish of delicious soft peppermints, bath granules for jacuzzi tub, variety of magazines, personal K-cup machine) and outside (our names on the blackboard when we arrived, chocolate chip cookies which go fast, so grab them while you can!). Breakfast both mornings was delicious. Some of the things we tried: strawberries with cream, egg with a sauce, bakery or homemade kolache, sausage). I loved our room - king size bed, fireplace (though not the season to use it), a reading/coffee nook with bookcase wallpaper (so cool!), jacuzzi tub, two easy chairs with a small table, end tables by both sides of the bed, plenty of room to spread out suitcases. In summary, I would 100% recommend Lamb's Rest and would definitely make a return visit! read more

This was our first time staying and we LOVED IT! We stayed in the Texan room and it was amazing. We loved the decor, the layout of the property and just everything. It was nice to sit outside in the morning and have breakfast and just listen to the nature sounds, or sit out at night. We met some cool people who were staying there and a couple who were repeat stayers. We will definitely stay here again, hopefully when things calm down we can experience the awesome breakfasts y'all are known for. It was definitely one of our best b&b experiences! read more

We stumbled across The Lamb's Rest Inn on Yelp! while we were on an impulse trip to Gruene. They were so kind on the phone and helpful with our last minute booking. Gorgeous grounds, beautiful view, comfortable beds, soft sheets and delicious food! Everything you need to have a restful, intimate weekend. There are two decks looking right over the river, a hammock, a swing seat and plenty of seating outside to take in the view and relax! They have set the bar for Hill Country B&Bs! I almost don't want to tell others about this little gem, it was so good! I was planning a romantic getaway with my husband and was torn between this B&B and a historic one right next to Gruene Hall, but after reading reviews about the other one being loud and dingy I went with my gut and picked this one. I do not regret my decision at all! It was so peaceful and secluded, perfect for couples looking to get away from it all while still being a short drive (or walk) to all that Gruene has to offer. We stayed in the Quilly's Antiques room. It was perfect as that it practically had it's own private deck on the second floor. The owners were sweet Christian people that prayed before every breakfast. We will definitely be back! read more

Heaven on Earth. The most gorgeous bed and breakfast in all of Texas. The grounds are a secret garden overlooking the river. The sheets are like butter, the orange soap smells divine and makes skin super soft, and the home made cookies set out daily are hands down the absolute best. Breakfasts are delicious with fresh coffee :) We have been every year for 5 years and it is consistently our favorite spot. George and Judy and their sweet staff are the best. I know the majority of reviews are very positive but our recent stay (Jun 4-5) was not enjoyable. We stayed in the Lilycott Garden Cottage for $240 a night. This cottage has an A/C window unit that was so loud we had to use ear plugs to sleep. The bathroom does not have A/C vents, so it was very warm not getting any A/C. The carpet look soiled and not very clean. For oldies, to get to the cottage there are steep stairs to climb or go down. read more

We did not have such a wonderful experience. Rushing to get out of town we didn't see the part of letting them know if we got there before the 4pm check in. We got there at 3pm in the pouring rain. Had to carry our luggage up to the Inn only to find no one there. Walked back to the car and the Inn Keepers were driving up. Very cold reception, like we had put them out. Never got a warm fuzzy from them the rest of the trip. Decor very out dated. We stayed 2 nights and the coffee and water was never restocked. We enjoyed the other guest there and the location was wonderful. Not some place we would go back too. read more

A hidden gem! This beautiful inn sits on a great spot on the Guadalupe river. We stayed for three days, and there was river access for fishing and swimming, with a great patio to relax on and multiple deck areas to enjoy the outdoors. The rooms and facilities are extremely clean, comfortable, and cozy. We had two rooms with three people in each and it fit us perfectly. The breakfast is great too. The distance to Gruene and New Braunfels downtown areas is very close and an easy trip. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return as well as recommend to others. read more

We stayed two nights and LOVED it. The welcome was friendly and warm. It felt like home away from home from the moment we arrived. Immediately, I knew, along with the rest of the house and property, that our room was clean. I usually feel a little creeped out walking on the carpet or using the bathtub, but every square inch was super clean. I felt very comfortable. We went to the Lamb's Nest inn to celebrate our Anniversary. It is located on the Guadalupe river. We watched turkey and Deer from the balcony. The room was quite and the AC blew cold. When I sent an email that we would be late and I was looking forward to the chocolate chip cookies they left a plate of them in the room!!! Even noticed I had a new hairstyle from the year before!!! Quiet, serene, little oasis near Gruene. Loved the Lilycott Garden Cottage. Private little cottage separate from inn with private balcony and indoor Jacuzzi. They had wonderful Comphy sheets that I ended up buying and their soaps are amazing!!! Great escape. We will definitely be back. read more

Lamb's Rest Inn is located off the Guadalupe River in Grene, TX (short distance from New Braunfels). We stayed here for an extended weekend last year and hope to go back again! The house is beautiful and their backyard garden leading up to the river is breath taking. We especially enjoyed waving at tubers as they passed by as we sat in the double hammock swing. Breakfast was creatively put together each morning and the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. They also have a huge back porch that is great for a leisurely board game and coffee before starting your day. This B&B is approximately 40 minutes from San Antonio. read more
