I had a problem with Microsoft word on a new laptop. Lots of error messages and eventually it would freeze and I had to restart several times a day. They just wasted my time, and cost me at least a day without a computer. I have an iMac and got the black screen of death. I called to ask if they worked on Macs, and they said "Yes." Fine, I arranged to get my computer there before I had to be somewhere so that I could get the process of fixing it/saving the data/slitting my wrists started. I arrive, plug it in, get the black screen and the guy in back, who can't be bothered to get up from his desk, tells the very nice receptionist "Tell him to take it to the Apple Store." I'm standing 15 feet away -- maybe he could say to me, "Take it to the Apple Store," but apparently it was important for me to realize that I wasn't worth his valuable time. If you say you can work on Macs, that generally means you can work on Macs -- and if you can only solve really simple problems, you should say so. You shouldn't mislead customers as to your capabilities, and you should, if you have done so, at least have the courage to get up from your desk, say "I'm sorry" and acknowledge you've wasted someone's valuable time and perhaps cost them a day without their computer. Horrible business practices and customer relations from top to bottom. read more

Did not get rid of the virus's on our computer, and basically told us we needed a new computer. We took the Sam computer to the Geek Squad, since nerd for rent did not fix the computer and charged us $175. The Geek Squad, fixed the computer and it is working beautiful. The true value of service is seen when things don't go as planned. My daughter's Windows 7 machine was infected with a virus that standard virus protection could not detect or remedy. The first attempt to solve the problem was unsuccessful but Ed, the owner, took over responsibility for a resolution that was much more involved that the original estimate. I'd already paid for the second visit but Ed offered to refund that fee due to the inconvenience of not resolving the issue on the first attempt. He also picked up and delivered the machine at my convenience. read more

I took my laptop to Nerd4Rent because it was booting up slowly and I couldn't make some configuration changes I wanted. They charged me $282 to do a "tuneup" and a virus scan and to remove 6 trojans that they found. When I got home the laptop no longer recognized my home wireless network so I couldn't connect to the internet. They refused to refund any of my money and wanted another $169 just to come to my house, at which point I cut my losses & got another service to come out & do the fix for $120. I agree with s.r. -- these people are out to make $$ off people's ignorance. A definite DO NOT USE. read more

This office is really a great find for people who need computer help. From the first call to their office, they are professional, prompt, friendly, and not afraid to make an initial assessment of the problem. Once I took my computer in, they diagnosed the problem quickly and offered what was the best solution (new computer) rather than fixing my existing computer even though it would be much less money for them. Best of all, they operate like a mom and pop shop. I forgot my credit card when I was picking up my computer and Ed (the owner) said not to worry and to pay when convenient. I had an excellent experience with Nerd4Rent and I'm fussy. I own a iMAC G5 with OSX operating system. When I spoke to the receptionist this morning I explained my issue and I was able to get an appt. the same day with a 2 hour window. The owner, Edward came out with Mark. Both men were friendly, thorough, explained their paperwork and the process they used to hook up the wireless network. They are also dog friendly. The charges were thoroughly explained to me before the work was started. One got on one computer, one on the other and they finished before the hour was up. These guys are WONDERFUL! I work for a local non-profit and had an issue with my external hard drive because my computer stopped recognizing it. They checked it out immediately and were so helpful. They ended up not being able to recover our data, but didn't charge us. They spent a long time explaining how best to back up data and they were very reassuring. I can't recommend them highly enough!
