I usually buy my fans through Lamps Plus, but haven't in awhile. I purchased a fan 2 years ago from Lamps Plus and the fan was giving me trouble. I did call the manufacturer first, which they informed me to call the dealer to get a replacement fan. I called Lamps Plus and was given to Juan the manager. Juan as a manager is as good as it gets. He was professional and when he told me he would call me back, he did. I was totally impressed by Juan. I felt Juan went above and beyond to make sure the customer, me, was totally satisfied. Juan scheduled my fan to be replaced on Sunday, the electrician came on time, and he swiftly put up my ceiling fan. I am so happy Lamps Plus knows what customer service is. read more

Horrible customer service. Most of our light fixtures and fans were purchased from Lamps Plus online. On a recent trip to the store, the sales person asked that we purchase from the store rather than online. We wanted to upgrade our outdoor lighting for our large yard. I set up an appointment for a free in home estimate. No one ever showed. I called and told them and they said they would ask the sales person to call me back. No one called back. I took my ceiling fan in today after a short phone conversation with Heather who is a knowledgeable helpful person. Upon arrival they knew exactly who I was without asking, and what I needed. Will their service tech diagnosed the issue (dead remote receiver) quickly, and customized my downrod for me. I was back out the door with a new receiver and remote and a good as new fan. We live in Bakersfield and the closest Lamps Plus is in Fresno, a nearly two hour drive for us, but worth every minute simply because of the customer service, specifically from Chad Brown. Our big box stores in Bakersfield are not helpful at all, and the small independent stores don't have the selection of a Lamps Plus. Working with Chad on multiple occasions now, it's like getting a professional designer's opinion for free. His expert knowledge of inventory, both in the store and what can be special ordered, is extremely helpful in satisfying our needs. I order a $2500 chandelier and was promised that I will have in hand by 12/22/16. I got this as a surprise for my wife I check with customer service to see where my order was as I did not get the shipping info and they stated that they will send a message to the warehouse one day later I got and email say it was shipped the very next day I got a 2nd email say it will ship on the 21 with FedEx 3day which put it the 27th of dec so I ask if they can do next day for me as this item was going to be a surprise and I was promised it we'll be here on 12/22/15. Terrible customer service. I ordered online (there are no stores in my area) after chatting online with an associate. I asked a question about the product that the associate couldn't answer and she told me I would get a response after she spoke with merchandising, within 24-48hrs. I never received a response and went ahead with my purchase so I could receive it by Thanksgiving. It wasn't until after I received delivery and the product didn't work in my home, that I learned return shipping fees were not covered. I have sent two emails regarding the shipping fees and have not had anyone contact me. I work in retail and can't believe the lack of professionalism in not even responding. I spent $50. on the purchase and it cost me over $22. to return it. I have been barraged with emails and a recent postcard touting "free shipping and returns". I came in for a lampshade for my old lamp and was going to take it to get fixed at a local lighting store. The guys in the back at Lamps Plus on Shaw and Blackstone took my lamp to the back and totally fixed my lamp, didn't charge me for the time and did a fabulous job! Went to purchase a ceiling fan and all did not go well. Found 1 and ran my Credit Card through and 1st attempt found an issue with the transaction. Ran the Visa card again 2 more times and failed each time with an error of "Error Processing". Called the bank immediately and was told the transaction had gone through 3 times each at the amount of $322.74. Lamps Plus was told that the transaction was in a "PreAuth" state which meant that the Visa card was waiting on Lamps Plus transaction to kick in. Also, a Female Employee approximately 40 years old looked and me and made a snide comment about the Visa card is was attempting to use...! I didn't appreciate her rude comment. After waiting 30 minutes they still could not figure out the problem on their end.!! Walked out immediately. I called back the next day and the amounts i had charged to my card was still in limbo. Called back and CANCELLED THE ENTIRE ORDER. The Female Employee that made the comment was very rude and my wife also told me she had an issue with her once also. read more

Okay, so I returned yesterday, July 1st, because I got an email about an incredible sale, thinking maybe they still had the hanging lamp fixture that I liked. I walked in, there were three couples looking around, one lady being helped at the counter and a gentleman sitting at a table stapling what appeared to be prices on sales sheets. So I hunt for the fixture, see something that looks almost similar and thought, ah lets ask. I walk to the counter, the female on the phone held up a finger and the other gentleman was clearly tied up. The woman gets off the phone and just walks away, no please give me a minute nothing. So I semi follow her, past the man at the table, who looks up but says nothing. She goes to a store room or back room and there is another female sales associate eating chips in the doorway, and I realize I have just lost this battle with Lamps Plus and decided to give up. The fates are truly against me getting a light fixture there! Oh, and another couple, who for some reason thought I worked there and asked if I could help them, left as I was backing out. I would give them zero stars if I could. Horrible customer service. Buyer beware. I bought a ceiling fan less than 2 years ago and the control stopped working. I called they told me to bring in the control and they would test it. After two trips to the store and no one knowing what to do we were told too bad. They would not help us and gave us a phone number to the manufacturer. The lady at the third store visit was horribly rude and laughed in our face. Our receiver was never tested and we are just out $475 for a fan that won't work without the wall controls. read more

Beware when ordering anything at this store. Associate Clifford Archer sneaks unauthorized items onto your order, then lies about it and store manager Anina Morris lies to defend him with absurd excuses, states she will cancel order so it can be reordered correctly, then does NOTHING! I love Lamps Plus, they have excellent quality at a reasonable price. If they don't have what you want in stock at the store, order it yourself, or who knows what "extras" you will be charged for and receive. Fortunately they have excellent customer service associates who know how to take care of and save (probably from a lot of practice caused by these two) customers. read more

I stool at the same display for 15 minutes while they assisted people who walked in after me! Over the years, my family has purchased about 10 or so lamps/chandeliers from this Lamps Plus location. We have always had good experiences. The only complaint I have is that the one time I have a problem with a desk lamp that broke due to failure in structural integrity (i.e. I came home to find the strut that holds the lamp out at an angle had failed and the lamp had crashed on to the desk.) the management gave no benefit of the doubt to me and even put in his two-cents saying that this failure in his opinion was due to user abuse/misuse. I work in retail and have to deal with warranties on a daily basis and we never jump to conclusions and accuse the customer of being at fault unless it is a clear cut case of product misuse. I also happen to be an engineering grad student who specializes in statics and understands why and how structural failures occur. The product in question, an expensive and beautiful Ottlite, was a gift from my mother. The failure, which is obvious upon inspection due to a design flaw, was completely ignored by this manager before he accused me of breaking the lamp. I understand that there may be nothing they can do to help me in this instance yet I truly do not appreciate the attitude that he presented towards a long-time loyal customer. My family will not be returning to this store after this experience. I would suggest shopping elsewhere if customer service is important to you. read more
