While catching my flight to Lanai with Mokulele Airlines, unfortunate there is no lounge or food businesses in Terminal #3 of the Daniel Inouye International Airport where you can get a hot cup of Joe. What do you do??? When I landed on Lanai, I caught a shuttle ride with Rabaca's Limo service to the Lanai Rental Car agency, just across the street from the rental car agency is a business called - "Lanai Plantation Store". Lanai Plantation Store is your typical convenience store where they sell simple grocery items, a few souvenirs, all types of drinks, gasoline, as well as them having a deli inside of the convenience store where they will make you hot fresh food to order. After getting my rental car, I just popped over next door to get a hot cup of Joe. Not the best cup of Joe that I ever had, but when you're on a remote island like Lanai, it's better than nothing. The price for a large cup of Joe was $1.85, which is very reasonable, considering that everything on Lanai is pretty expensive. Would I come back here for a cup of coffee? Sure, why not? I was so happy that a small local business was available to meet my needs, and thankfully for the easy access on a remote island.

I went to both Times location, foodland and Tamora and they were sold out and or haven't carried it in a while. I had to call IGD at both locations and this was the one that confirmed they had it in stock. Customer service is legit and I felt the aloha spirit. Fairly priced and or good for most other groceries and clean. I highly recommend!

I like the exchange of ideas, and found her easy to converse with. The cashier was helpful in signing us up to be a member. The store offers a wide variety of items, not just fresh groceries, frozen items and drinks. They also sell bulk paper products- plates, utensils, cups, bowls etc., and quick ready-made hot food to go. The store has wide aisles, adequate parking, and a good variety of food items. I'm amazed that you don't have to look for a cart as the customers return their carts where they belong. Good alternative to the super stores that sell bulk items; however, you may have to still visit other stores to purchase everyday kitchen ware. I'll definitely be coming back to shop here.

I saw all of the staples and everything was fresh and clean looking. The prices were as expected for a small general store located in a remote area. If you shop the deals/sales it's pretty comparable to the mainland. Definitely stop by for your essentials when visiting lanai!

They've been in operation since 1946 and are located on Dole Square where many of the island's businesses are concentrated. They offer a variety of fresh produce, meat, seafood, and pantry items. They also have a selection of prepared foods, gourmet wine, a poke counter and sundries. I came for the snacks (of course) and settled on their spam musubi. I don't know what they put in their musubi, but that thing was DELICIOUS! The rice is seasoned along with the spam and both together are a homerun. My only regret was only getting one :( All in all, this is a good place to stop and stock up on snacks, drinks, and other items.

From chips to chocolates - many of their products remind me of my childhood vacations in the Philippines. They also have a hot food line that feature your typical Filipino dishes like pork n peas, dinakdakan, adobo, chicharon, empanada, lumpia, and more. You can get them in plate lunch style form or containers to serve as entrees. What I really come here for though is the Mais Con Yelo -- the only place I know on island that offers this delectable cool treat. Mais Con Yelo is a layered, Filipino dessert that consists of sweet corn, shaved ice, evaporated milk, leche flan, and a scoop of CORN & CHEESE ice cream. I love corn and cheese ice cream and the whole combo of ice and evaporated milk are SO good! It's similar to a halo halo, but with corn. For whatever reason, the last time I got it, the aunty made it so so good that I can't stop thinking about it and will probably go get more tomorrow. Hahah. Speaking of ice cream, they also have the Magnolia boba ice creams here in various flavors and I really, really like that ice cream. Started by selling candies and treats roadside in the 1920s, Nagasako General Store relocated to…read morethis plaza in 1965 and is in it's 4th generation of ownership. Over the course of over one-hundred years, the Nagasako family has built up a reputation for being generous and supportive of the community and going out of the way to help others. During the plantation era, they would visit camps, collect orders, and make deliveries; they allowed families to open charge accounts so that those who were struggling could feed their families during tough times; and they donated candy and fruit to the annual Christmas Parade for Santa to pass out. We were trying to eat at 808 grindz but were worried about timing so we went to Nagasako after I scouted inside and saw stuff we could eat for breakfast. I love their T-shirts and went back to buy one after leaving and already feeling like I would be missing out if I left without it. We ended up with a whole grab bag of food we ate out of the back of our SUV rental. Spam Musubis were great and there was a whole pile of them at 8 am. They had fried rice early as well and it came with a Filipino red hot dog that actually paired pretty well with the rice. Lumpias were not too salty and nice and crunchy, came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Kids did not like the BBQ pork bun but my wife and I devoured it.
