It's a library and it has books. Staff is very friendly. Didn't give 5 stars due to "shady" people hanging outside

Lived in Palmdale for 3 years now…read more I personally felt racially profiled, the only time I go to this library is to simply to print the files I need for projects, a white homeless man (Big 50 year old man) came up to me who I seen while working security at one of my jobs and made snaky weird comments and got close to my face. Me and him got into a loud verbal altercation, he was in my personal space and he began to yell when I told him to back up. We yelled at each other until Library Staff came and told us to leave. However, this blonde female staff worker said something to homeless individualbut focused her attention on me. The homeless individual walked away while they proceed to tell me to leave. Another Hispanic/White female with her Disabled Daughter (probably Autistic) said I was rude because I told her to move and tried to side with the homeless dude (Lady was glued to her phone and not paying attention to her "Disabled" daughter" ) As I was printing my copy and The Director Robert Shupe came along with 5 staff surrounding me as I was printing my paper I calmly tried to explain to Robert the backstory and he cut me off to say "I don't care about the backstory" after getting the print I needed. I complied and proceed to exit the structure. Robert wanted to talk to me out side which I agreed to and I understand their policy and keeping peace, but I felt like the blonde female staff worker was bias because how did she let the homeless individual just walk away to hide. My mom came and talked to. He reassured there was no profiling but I doubt it by the female's demeanor towards me. Robert appreciated me explaining the backstory (privately not publicly) and situation is in progress partially resolved. I do want to report the female staff worker due to her selective enforcement and potential bias of the situation. This is why recording and camera are appropriate evidence to protect yourself. I have nothing against homeless people but having 1 female security guard and not a male especially not armed, Seems pretty risky. I am about advancement but city needs to stop being cheap with the safety of others.

This is a very nice library with plenty of free parking on the lot…read more There's security in the front. There's plenty of seats and outlets to charge your devices. They also have flyers about upcoming events.

The staff mentioned it was very difficult and competitive. And maybe it is but it is not their job to discourage or feel anyone discriminated. Not sure if my age or I hate to even say that status also was part of it. A more professional way to handle it would have been just to say "talking to a counselor would give you a better understanding of what fits better for you". Unfortunately this is the second bad experience I have at AVC I can now see why people I know decide to go to COC or moopark

Let me start by saying the campus is very nice and clean! The admissions and financial aid staff,…read moreon the other hand, is pretty much useless. They are decently friendly, but it seems like no one at the desk is ever authorized to actually do anything aside from taking your info down and saying they'll reach out to you (no one ever reaches out, by the way, shocker). I've visited over 8-10 times in the last 5 months, and the "higher-ups" are always out of the office or in meetings--every single time. I applied in August 2025 and it took 2 weeks and 3 visits just for them to even find my application because it supposedly got "filed into spam." Most CCs take 48 hours MAX. Because of that "spam incident," my financial aid was severely delayed. Even though I'm a California native, they flagged me as a non-resident and said they needed my official high school transcripts to prove it. Contacting LAUSD for transcripts is a nightmare and takes 3-4 months, but the admissions supervisor gave me a verbal green light to take my Fall classes anyway. She promised they would backdate the waiver and clear the non-resident tuition once the transcripts arrived. I finally brought my transcripts in today, and now they're saying it's 50/50 if the dean will even honor that since the Fall semester is already over. To make it worse, the dean has been out for the last 2 days and they had no idea when she'd even be back. They refused to even schedule an in person appointment with her for me. I even offered to set it for this Friday or even weeks out and told them they could just call to cancel if she wasn't in, and they still said no. If someone is going to be out indefinitely, they need to bring in someone else to fill in and handle their responsibilities! I understand things and emergencies happen, but there is still business to be handled. Now they're saying they can guarantee Spring will be cleared, but I can't enroll in any classes until the $500 Fall balance is paid. What sense does that make?? Had I known this would happen, I never would've enrolled for Fall, but I trusted the supervisor's word. I'm beyond disappointed. The staff is friendly, but they need a new chain of command if the bosses are always gone. It shouldn't be this hard to better my future. I'm now pursuing enrollment at another college because I can't deal with this faulty system anymore. Advice to future students: save yourself the headache and explore other schools if you can. If you do happen to end up here DO NOT take verbal promises here. Get everything time-stamped and in writing or you'll end up stuck with a bill you weren't expecting.

When people think about NASA, they tend to lean towards the space aspect fo the agency, but at its core the first "A" stands for Aeronautics. NASA has been at the forefront of everything aviation since its earliest incarnation (NACA). From research into basic flight to the exotic, it drives innovation that we the public may never see but experience every time we fly. The portion of the center on Edwards AFB is generally off limits unless you have actual business on the base and there does not appear to be any tours of the Plant 42 location.
