The person (possibly the owner?) who took our order and served us was very rude, and the food was just okay at best. Nothing too special, but as soon as we told him we wanted the food to go, he forced us to sit in two chair next to the door in an otherwise empty restaurant. Perhaps the is the custom for the area, but I've never had an establishment not let me sit at a table while I waited for my food. It took probably about 20 minutes for him to get our order taken care of, which is generally too long (though at least it was fresh), as he seemed only able to tend to one order at a time. read more

Went there today. Had been wanting to go for years! The gentleman running it made me wait to take my order but i was willing as I could see he was also the cook. Ceviche was soso... too salty. The burrito was good but the other food was bland. I asked for Lizzano sauce and he didn't have any. It is the most common condiment in Costa Rica like ketchup to the US! They just had typical boring hot sauceWhen I went to pay the bill i paid with card. He saw I put 0 for tip and said rudely "NO TIP!?!" I replied i was planning to do tip using cash. Because of his rudeness I gave half of what I was planning and told him such! Honestly disappointed is an understatement! Then the guy behind me had the same thing happened to him about the tip. This restaurant is wonderful. If you are looking for clean authentic fresh food this Costa Rican place is for you. I had the vegetarian fajitas with rice, fresh coleslaw (lime juice based) and his amazing potatoes. I have a lot of food allergies and chemical sensitivities and I felt safe eating here. This is a fantastic place to eat. While we were there the owner was the cook the order taker and basically the only one working and he did an amazing job. The ceviche was some of the best we've ever eaten and we travel a lot. I had the fish tacos with mahi mahi and it was also amazing. Highly recommend this place. You will have to look for this place a bit. Once you turn onto the main road into Ridgeway before you get to the bridge turn into the little shop at on the right. Yuck. Just yuck! We walked into bro a completely empty restaurant to be met by what I think must be the owner? He was the only person there. Bad attitude. Gruff and irritated. We ordered the fish tacos, a small guacamole and a pineapple water. The bill came to $55, for LUNCH!! We received three small pieces of salmon on three tortillas with a pretty yuck coleslaw on the side. The guacamole was severely over salted. However, due to medical issue, I needed some electrolytes so I ate it. The fish tacos were VERY fishy. Salmon doesn't taste that way unless it is old. We finished out water and the small guacamole and left the rest of the lunch on the table. It was inedible. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

I don't know where the Costa Rica part came from whether the owner's relatives are Costa Rican or they went to Costa Rica and enjoyed the food so much that they decided to share it so I won't comment on that. What I will say is a few things: - The ceviche was amazing, tasted very fresh, not too salty and just enough lime. - The Gallo Pinto was terrible. I get it they give the Lizano on the side in case people don't like it but this was dry, super salty but otherwise bland. - The chicken tacos were just okay, there were some nice flavors on the chicken but again a little heavy handed on the salt. As a Costa Rican myself I'm not impressed at all and I'm concerned that this food is not depicting accurately the authentic flavors. read more

We were traveling through Colorado on a road trip and seen the sign for the best ceviche. So we decided to give it a try. We pulled in and ordered it to go so we could take it in our vehicle and the guy who was running the place was not very friendly when we came in. We ordered the ceviche and guacamole to go. Upon receiving the food we decided we would try it before we got back into our car. The guy started yelling at us in front of customers" ARE YOU TAKING IT TO GO OR ARE YOU EATING IT HERE". He then started cussing at us in Spanish. We told him we were just going to try it and he turned his back on us and just ignored us. We were so upset we haven't even tried the food. He also left the pit of the avocado in the guacamole. It was the absolute worse experience I have ever had. read more

I would give this place 5 stars if it was a Cevicheria only. The ceviche was the bomb. Unfortunately we ordered fish tacos and fajitas as well. The fish "tacos" entailed 2 small pcs of fish on top of a sad corn tortilla, bathing in the juice of the mediocre slaw on the same plate. This presentation rendered the tortilla completely soggy and useless. Note the picture of my companion's "fajita." He did say he liked the addition of carrots and other veggies, and the sauce was good. I have never had a fish taco without anything to dress it up: beans, salsa, avocado, sour cream... Nothing here. They are authentically prepared and I suspect the other reviewers who say they are boring here don't realize that you're supposed to add some of the house made fresh salsa, which is delicious. I had read about this place online and after staying in Ouray for a few days (where burgers and pizzas abound, but not much more than that this time of year) I was craving something light and fresh. Ordered the ceviche to go (medium size for around $17) and had high expectations after reading other reviews. My expectations were met and exceeded! This is quite possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. Perfectly balanced flavors - not too acidic, not to much cilantro. An absolutely perfect, fresh meal. And the spicy sauce that was served with it was amazing - not too hot, a little smoky, very interesting. I'm already planning on returning tonight and taking some home with me! This is our favorite place to eat in Ridgway. I love the salmon fish tacos. The salmon is cooked to perfection- crispy and slightly browned on the outside and perfectly soft and melts in your mouth in the inside. The Gallo Pinto (Rice and Beans) and Costa salad are delicious. The fruit smoothies are amazing and always taste fresh, at all times of the year. The food is always well prepared and delicious, fresh, well picked ingredients. We would eat here more often if we lived closer. read more
