Lots of shade, but we stayed on the water quite a while and ended up out in the heat and sun of midday. We did not all prepare for this and are paying for that. Overall, it was a lovely float with some areas with added challenge (rocks, submerged trees, shallows) to navigate. There are quite a few rocky shore areas where you can pull up the kayaks for a break or snack. Speaking of, we brought water, but failed to bring any food. It would have been nice to have something even though we planned to eat after. The exit from the river is a bit rough, but the young men helping were wonderful. We got 3 single kayaks, and 3 upgraded single kayaks. We definitely felt the upgrade was worth it for stability, more room for heavy people, adjustable footrests, and adjustable back rest. We had a great time and definitely intend to go back again.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!…read more This was hands down the most disorganized kayak rental experience I've ever had. Our reservation was for 12:00 PM. We were running about 10 minutes behind, so we called ahead, let them know, and even paid before arriving. After getting there, we waited nearly 30 minutes for transportation to the drop-off point. The woman at the office was nice and apologized, so we brushed it off. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. When we arrived at the river, everything fell apart. An older gentleman and two teenagers were unloading kayaks, but nobody gave any instructions or directed customers. We stood waiting for another 15+ minutes while they unloaded equipment and chatted. When we finally asked what was going on, they realized they didn't even have enough kayaks or paddles for our group. We were told more kayaks were "already on the way." Meanwhile, we watched other customers launch themselves because nobody was helping them get into the water. There was another group with a 12:30 reservation sitting there with kayaks available, but instead of getting us on the river, we continued waiting. At around 1:35 PM, I called the office and was told it would be another 30-45 minutes. By then we were beyond frustrated. A manager eventually got involved, but instead of apologizing, she seemed irritated that we were upset. After more waiting and more promises that kayaks were "almost there," transportation finally returned around 2:15 PM with additional kayaks. Remember, our reservation was for noon. We had already spent over two hours waiting. The best part of the day was actually being on the river. The river itself was enjoyable, and once we finally got in the water, we had a good time. Then came the ending. When we reached the take-out point, three teenagers were checking people in. One of them stopped another group and immediately started asking for names so he could charge them a $75 late fee. Their reservation had also been at noon, and they were delayed because of issues caused by the company, not because they were late. The teenager literally told them that wasn't his problem. Then they started trying to charge our group the same $75 late fee. Absolutely not. After multiple customers complained and the manager was called, they finally admitted we didn't owe anything. The entire situation could have been avoided with basic organization, communication, and customer service. We had 4 adults, 2 older kids, and 2 younger kids and spent nearly $400. For that kind of money, customers shouldn't spend over two hours waiting because a company failed to have enough kayaks available for scheduled reservations. The river was nice. The staff experience was terrible. I've floated many rivers over the years and can honestly say this was the worst-run kayak rental operation I've ever dealt with.

As far as scenery goes, the quarry was beautiful! Above the water was a clean rock face with some wildflowers growing in the grass on a ledge. Truly picturesque. A school bus, basketball "court", motorcycle, and "water dogs" can be found underwater! It made our check out dives much more fun to stumble upon a basketball hoop with some rogue bowling balls to toss in. We saw some fish swimming around which was fun as well. The visibility was remarkable (in my opinion) ranging from 4-10ft while I was there. There is a $25 entry fee for divers, and (I think) a $15 fee for non divers, but you must be accompanied by a diver if you yourself are not diving. They have equipment rentals that are fairly cheap and they can fill your tanks there too. Both guys working were very helpful and efficient getting me down to finish my certification. I highly recommend Pennyroyal for your Tennessee/Kentucky diving fix!

I must say, though, that Billy Dunlop park has been the best one (so far) for more than just a playground. Other than the human noise, the only thing you will hear here is nature's finest symphony; birds singing and the creek babbling. Today was all about some old school fun with some education thrown in. Tossing sticks off one side of the bridge and watching for them to drift by on the other side. Launching rocks into the water and seeing how many circles were made. Watching the birds and picking out the different ones. Learning to respect all kinds of critters in their natural habitat. Yes, kids, there really is more to do than bury your head in your phone. Of course, with all of this green space comes lots of bugs. Don't forget the repellant, or you will find yourself quite itchy.

The river was high enough to where we didn't have to get out & walk (we grounded out a time or two) & we even had a couple spots where we picked up some speed! I wouldn't call it white water but we had small rapids!! This was a blast!! It's quite safe while still being a thrilling day adventure!

However they didn't have our reserved cabin cleaned and the one next to it was "clean and ready" but upon getting inside we found tons of dead bugs and mold! Not just in the bathroom but also on the walls at a height where a kiddo or toddler could touch it or be exposed. To me this is unacceptable and a health hazard. We totally understand these are cabins in the woods but there were several empty units amongst us that were unoccupied and I can only hope they aren't dealing with the same level of mold. The only other thing we experienced that was negative was we rented a golf cart for $50 a day for one day but it kept dying even when the battery gauge read as fully operable. We broke down on day one and broke down again on our checkout day and had to leave the cart at another site. I'm hoping Prizer will be accommodating and comp us a future use of one day for the cart issues as I didn't request a refund but also didn't have time to resolve before checkout. The housekeeping manager and all the staff were apologetic and extremely professional which is why we will definitely still give Prizer a chance in the future. So all in all I would be wary of the cabins but everything else seemed well. Next visit we will be booking a bungalow on the water or bring an RV.

The next day we rented a boat, and the boat stopped working 10 minutes into our trip. We did get a new boat after an hour of waiting. This place does not care about wasting your time or reimbursing you when they are in the wrong. I would never recommend this dirty place to anyone. It is not well managed and nothing is consistent. Such a disappointment with all the money we spent. We were given the run around and no one was apologetic for all the mistakes that happened.
