No one else listened to me and Ford.com chat was the absolute worst by not following up with me about my repair request. One phone call with Mr. Chiles and I could hear the compassion in his voice and he did everything he said he would do plus repaired my battery issue. There is still the issue of why a subpar battery was placed in my vehicle by the factory but for now, I can't say thank you enough to the best service manager that I know. Kudos to you!!!!

Landers Ford South in Collierville…read more I purchased a pristine 2016 Ford Mustang that appeared to be in incredible condition from Landers Ford South in Collierville in June of 2025 for $10,000. A customer had purchased it from them new in 2016 and was trading it in for another new Ford Mustang. While driving it home from the dealership, I could hear a noise coming from under the back seat. The next day I took it back to Landers Ford South. They looked at it, and said that it needed a full rear rebuild that would cost about $5,000. Since I just bought it, they offered to cover the labor if I paid for half the parts. I agreed. They did the work and my half was about $1,000. No one expects to have such an expensive repair on a car that they just bought. And I believe that Lander Ford South knew about the issue before selling the car. The original owner had all of his repair work done there at that dealership while he owned it. So both the dealership and the original owner most likely knew of the issue, and that was why the original owner traded it in for a new car. But Landers Ford South covered most of the cost of the repair. So far so good. Unfortunately,, by the beginning of Fall, the car was overheating. As I live over an hour away from Landers Ford South, I had a local mechanic take a look at it. He said it had a bad heat sensor and replaced it. My daughter drove it back-and-forth to college every few weekends. The overheating issue started up again by late Fall. My daughter was stranded on the side of the road several times. The local mechanic tried several other things, but it kept overheating. This went on for several months and cost well over $1,000. Finally he said that he thought it was a bad head gasket. Which would be an expensive repair. He said that the Ford dealership would have better diagnostic equipment and more experience with that specific engine than he had, and recommended that I have them look at it. I took it back to Landers Ford in Collierville in January 2026 to get a second opinion. Landers Ford said it needed a new engine and they wanted $10,500 to replace the engine. I had just bought it in June and we had only put a few thousand miles on it. Landers Ford South offered me only $250 for the car! I asked Landers Ford South for the diagnostic paperwork on the car several times, but they never could seem to find it. Turns out they probably never ran any diagnostics on it. Yet they told me with confidence that it had to have a new engine. Now for the kicker. I sold the car to an independent used car buyer / seller who was going to put a used engine in it. The best I could get from him was $2,750 for the car. But that was 11 times what Landers Ford South offered me, so I agreed. Well, the man who bought it from me for $2,750 told me that he put in a new $200 OEM heat sensor in my Mustang and now it doesn't overheat. He said the diagnostic equipment he had showed that that was the problem. He had already bought a used engine for cheap to put in it. So if the car does end up having engine problems, he will be able to replace the engine fairly quickly. I offered to buy the car back from him for an extra $1,000 over what he paid for it, but he refused. I sold him a $10,000 car that I bought from the Landers Ford South dealership just eight months prior, and then had another $7,000 worth of repairs done on for just $2,750 because I was told by the Ford dealership that it needed a new engine. A $200 sensor was all it needed! The car worked for maybe half of the 8 months that I owned it. I am out over $12,000, and had to buy another car so my daughter could go to college and drive to her required practicals. I am not happy with Landers Ford South. I will never go there again, and I will never recommend them to anyone.

I was told the car was ready & I had to get the front end alignment on my own as he did not have the machine to do this. This was the first I had heard this. The car pulled to the left severely. I took it to the BMW dealership in Cordova, TN. BMW advised me that it would be a waste of time to perform the alignment until the damage from the recent incident was completed properly. I took it back to Desoto Imports. The owner kept the car to complete more repairs, mainly from parts that were on order from the first repair. I then took it back to BMW 2nd time for a front end alignment & received the same response as before. They showed me the problem with the struts, as well as, the tires on the front were already showing chords. These struts & tires were placed on the vehicle by Desoto Imports. A few days later, my vehicle was hit by another vehicle. It was towed to ServiceKing for collision repair. ServiceKing told me the same thing as BMW did. They could not complete the repair from the 2nd accident until the work from the previous accident was completed. At this point, my car was not able to be driven. I went to Desoto Import to talk to the owner. After I expressed my frustration, he told me to "sue him". He stated "he was done with me and if I had a problem to sue Him". My experience shows that Desoto Imports was not a good place to get collision repairs and that the owner was not interested in customer satisfaction. He didn't seem to care how rude & inconsiderate he presented himself.
