EPIC SERVICE FAIL…read more Bought a CERTIFIED USED 2022 Highlander from Bill Penney at the beginning of March. Getting close to 2 months now the entire entertainment screen has been BLANK. All I get is 'part is on order no ETA'. Basically telling me to go away - they'll get around it when they feel like. Good thing I paid a premium for a CERTIFIED vehicle with a 12 month bumper to bumper warranty. Problem is if they don't stand by the warranty its worthless. Already been in twice - 1st time it was 10 hours for them to send me a 10 second video that basically said 'yep it doesn't work'. Ordered part which I had to call them to find out if it arrived since they didn't bother to call me. Set up 2nd appointment for 8:15am. Arrived, they knew what had to be done so I I waited on the car. At 3:30pm - more than 7 hours later I'm getting impatient so I inquired why a 2 hour fix (I looked it up) took so long. They talked to the service department and they HADN'T EVEN OPENED THE VEHICLE UP YET!!!! Why take a 8:15am appointment if you aren't going to get to it until 4pm? Turns out the part wasn't the fix and after 10 hours got sent home and I'm still waiting on yet another part which they can't seem to source. Before the fix I could at least try use the android auto through the car speakers but them attempting to fix it they broke that too. Can't say I'm impressed by how any of this has been handled. Every time I get in the car its aggravates me that can't use the screen to change climate, GPS, or any of the other tons of things this seems to have complete control over.

He had been working with "Johnny" and needed me to insure the yet unseen car, in order to show the CM people both the insurance car and an insurance "binder." I've never had to show an insurance binder in my life. To take a check, we were supposed to show them our bank balance on my phone. I get that, because it was a Saturday and they likely could not verify the funds were available in our account, otherwise. Hubs said this was part of the "express" purchase process and would speed up the transactions and save time. There's nothing express about their "Express" experience. We arrived 3 minutes prior to our appointment and then waited 30 minutes with only the main guy in the front room greeting us and pointing to the waiting area. If I were Johnny, the sales guy, I would have greeted us personally and ensured we were comfortable and pointed that the car was in the heated bay, with a giant yellow (why yellow at Christmas time, I don't know) bow on the hood and made myself available for questions. Also, Johnny likes to text. That's fine; however, some issues are quickly rectified by talking with someone. I tried to call him the day before to understand his insurance requirements and he doesn't answer his phone. This is frustrating. The entire time we were waiting, our car was sitting right there in the bay. We were able to get in and look at and in the car, prior to getting a key. I wanted to ensure we had everything needed to change the tires and a passerby employee helped me with that, and he was very kind. I also wanted to see the spare tire and see if it was a donut or a full size and it was a donut and appeared to have some wear on it. I brought this to the ladies who checked us out and one assured me the repair team would call me Monday about the spare. Of course, no one did. I was disappointed to only get one key fob, also. I also had heartburn with the $499 CarMax processing fee (not required by law), which is fairly prominently displayed on signage on the wall. What exactly does this "fee" pay for? I saw numerous guys and gals sitting around on their cell phones. It would be a great place for the DOGE to implement some cutbacks. On the plus side, the ladies who checked us out were kind, polite and thorough. And, CarMax gives you a 10-day period in which you may return the vehicle.

My service advisor, Anthony, was friendly and helpful during the intake process. The dealership even assisted us in obtaining a rental vehicle through Enterprise when we encountered issues, and I appreciated that effort. Unfortunately, my experience took a dramatic turn on the day I attempted to have my vehicle transferred to a Honda dealership after being informed that the repair was actually covered under Honda's warranty rather than my extended warranty. Anthony informed me that Honda would need to handle the repair, which I completely understood and immediately began coordinating. The problem arose when University Kia refused to release my vehicle due to what they claimed was an unresolved Enterprise rental issue. After contacting Enterprise myself, I confirmed that the rental was being billed directly to my debit card, and I immediately relayed that information back to the dealership. I was repeatedly told it would take "just five more minutes" to send me my invoice so the vehicle could be released. As time passed, the situation became increasingly frustrating. The Honda dealership was ready to pick up my vehicle and potentially complete the repair that same day, but University Kia continued to delay the release. Multiple follow-up calls resulted in either being hung up on or having my calls declined. The only way I was able to reach someone was by calling anonymously. What concerns me most is the lack of communication and professionalism. Despite providing proof that the rental vehicle was my responsibility and not University Kia's financial obligation, I was still unable to get a clear explanation or timely resolution. I ultimately had to escalate the matter, request management involvement, and send a detailed complaint to the service manager. While the initial customer service was pleasant, the way this situation was handled on the day of vehicle release was extremely disappointing. Better communication, accountability, and customer service could have prevented hours of unnecessary stress and frustration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service department.

I…read morehave been to Nissan dealerships whose service dept ripped me off, who made dangerous and faulty repairs on my car, who did shady things with my car insurance, and who gave inferior customer service. I am of the school of thought that if you pay a premium to bring your car to a dealership, you should be getting top-notch service and a great experience. Landers McLarty's is a perfect example of how it SHOULD be done. It was a relief to me to receive such an excellent experience and customer service when I had my car worked on here. My service rep John was friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. He and his team pinpointed the problems right away and gave me a price range of repair options available to me. They found trouble spots that another shop had completely overlooked (just that same week!). Nissan was thorough, unlike the other shop who charged me $1k for a problem that didn't even get resolved. Had I gone to Nissan first, it would have been done once and it would have been done thoroughly and correctly. I appreciate that kind of integrity and craftsmanship. My 15 yr old car now drives like it's almost new again. They even provided me a complimentary Lyft ride home while my car was being worked on. John provided timely updates, and provided cost estimates for each of the repairs before performing them. There are some repairs I chose to do elsewhere, where it was more cost-effective for me, and John did not try to upsell me or convince to do me otherwise. People complain that dealerships cost more for service. That depends, how many times do you want to have your "repair" fixed? What is that time and inconvenience worth to you? Are repairs expensive? Yes. It's like going to the doctor for your car. If you want a healthy car, it costs money, that's a fact of life. The important thing is that you get what you pay for. At Landers McLarty, the value of my repair experience is something that will continue to bring me back. The cost was reasonable and the experience was great. Thank you!

We love the car but would never do business with this dealership again. Purchasing a new vehicle is a high expense for families and if this dealership does not see there's reviews and recognize something needs to change than the should not wonder why they have a failing business.
