I really don't do Hollywood movies, so what I like about this theater is they do the International Film Festival in the fall. Also, They just hosted the Lunchbox Shorts for Edmonton Downtown Dining. We had a great hour of food related films and for 15 bucks that also included a delicious burrito from Rostizado. Nice enough theater and really close to Fionn McCool's so you can go there for a drink later. read more

I had not been here to see a movie in years. But the movie we wanted to see was playing here and one other theatre. We went to a nearby restaurant and got the dinner and movie pass deal. It was Sunday night which is Senior's Day and it's great they have deals most days. It wasn't too busy, there were just two people in front of us to buy our tickets and concession had no line. It was nice to be able to select our seats too. The washrooms were clean and there were enough stalls so no line up. The movie poster for our theatre was incorrect, so some people were in the wrong theatre. It was the first evening movie and the theatre was clean and ample leg room. The cup holder was a bit sticky but not bad. Another minor issue was the AC was blowing down throughout the movie and I had my hoodie as I usually get cold in theatres but it was still minor annoyance. Good theatre and would see a movie again here if I was downtown. read more

The only way I'll watch movies in theaters and not feel like a peasant haha I quite enjoy the popcorn here, especially when you pay extra for the layered butter. The seating is super comfortable and its very cozy like you're at home and if you have a theater room at home ; which I obviously don't , so I have to watch movies here haha you can recline your seat as much as you want and you'll never have to move your legs to let someone walk through. I would suggest to bring a blanket because the theater does get a bit chilly. The sound quality is pretty good. Another perk is that if you prepurchase tickets form Costco, it is major savings. You can order your tickets online with the voucher code and choose your seating there. It is very easy to use. read more

Still my go to cinema. Recently had an impromptu movie night with a friend and we just wanted to watch a movie - any movie. It was late and the manager was closing the shutters. He said we can go in but the last movies just started. Cool he let us in when they were in the middle of closing. Went to see 'Life Itself' and balled my eyes out. Thank god this is the quietest cinema in YEG. No one seen my cry face or mascara running as I left. Deals on snacks and they now have a self serve pop machine. I mixed half diet coke and cherry coke which is bomb. Try it. read more

OMG! Movie lovers get thee to St Albert!!! Do not put up w the tired seats at Cineplex. This is even better than VIP at a standard price because of new, reclining seats. I hope people will be respectful of the investment Landmark has made to make movie-going an experience. I live in west Ed and will keep driving to St Albert until Cineplex ups their game. I came to watch Star wars, the last Jedi. I first watched star wars when it first came out over 20 years ago and I was mesmerized. I am glad Edmonton still has a theater where people can come and enjoy a cheap movie night on Tuesdays. The theater is well kept and clean. Came to Landmark for the first time this holiday season with a group of fellow Yelpers. The location is great for anyone working or living downtown - I live out of the city so it's not a location I would venture to unless I was meeting a group of people. It's located on the top floor of city centre and easily accessible from the parkades. We paid $3 to park at the West Parkade after 6pm on weeknights but if you came during the day you could be paying upwards of $2.50/half hour! The only way I would come down here at that price is if the movie theatre was comping my parking. The theatre itself was well laid out, open concept, and on the top floor right next to Fionn MacCool's pub! Perfect for a late night bite and movie! The chairs were comfortable and the movie went off without a hitch. Note - This theatre is not Cineplex so you won't be able to use Cineplex gift cards/passes. Yay for downtown fun! read more

Landmark Cinemas isn't a movie theatre I go to often. When I was in University at MacEwan downtown I went a bit more, but I hadn't gone in a few years...and then I came here for the Yelp Elite Event in December. I was a little worried because one of my favourite things about this theatre is the soft pretzels. Would they still be there? Yes there were. Soft pretzels and movies are the best combination. I don't understand why these aren't available at other theatres. Landmark for the win. The screens here aren't ginormous, but they're a decent size. The theatres here are never super busy either. Even with all us Yelpers seeing the James Bond Spectre movie the theatre was only about half full. Now maybe on opening nights for big movies it might be different, but it's never been to bad when I've been here. The biggest problem (for me) with this theatre is the location. I'm just not downtown often enough, but City Centre Mall (where the theatre is) is easy enough to reach by lrt (get off at Churchill and follow the signs to City Centre). There's also parking nearby, and I believe they validate parking in the east parkade, but don't quote me on that. If you live/work or are otherwise around downtown Landmark Cinemas is a good choice. Grab yourself a soft pretzel and settle in for a fun movie experience. read more

Basically my fav theatre in the city. You know why? It isn't stupid crazy busy! Since Landmark took it over, it had also been clean and well kept! I love the concession now! Their food is better, the popcorn is fresh and they have coke freestyle machines with free refills! Not gonna lie, I totally come for that over other movie theatres haha. The parking isn't great but if you tell the attendant in the parade you are there for a movie, you get a significant discount on parking. With the lower price of the ticket, I don't mind paying a bit for parking. Staff has always been good too. It doesn't seem like just teens fumbling through. read more

I have now changed my mind about movie theatres'!!!!! What an experience. The location I have been to here, is in St Albert We booked in advance, didnt have to wait for food or entrance at all. Everything was ready. Mind you they dont have a huge concession or bar, but who cares! You make your own flavored pop with an electronic machine!!!!!!!!!!! I got to eat popcorn and lay back and watch a full movie without being disturbed! I first was exposed to it in Calgary and so excited its here in Edmonton. Will only be going there although i live 5 min from Windemere VIP. I bring my blanket, and sit there relaxed like I was in my own home. No one humming in my ear, phone light glaring in my face, and people kicking the back of my chair!!!!!!!!! Only thing- no heated seats :)-!!!!!! read more

I had alot of good things to say about this location when they were under the Empire brand name and after making the change over to Landmark im pleased to see alot of the great aspects of seeing a film here remain. I was glad to see they kept alot of the same staff here after making the changeover. I always found them to be very pleasant and more serious about their jobs than the "just doing it for the paycheck" bored looking teens at Cineplex. Both the theaters and washrooms here are always clean and I just love not sticking to the floor as I take my seat before the show. The prices here can't be beat and they offer specials for students and cheap tickets on Tuesdays as well. They even have Cineplex beat at the concession as well. The prices here are far more affordable and they still manage to pull off having great selection without getting bogged down trying to offer a million different hot food options like Cineplex does. If you want short lines,great prices,and a clean environment I really can't recommend this place enough. read more

If you live downtown this should really be your go-to theatre! It isn't the biggest and best theatre in Edmonton by a longshot but the reason I give it 4/5 stars is that it is usually not very busy! You shouldn't have to worry about long line-ups or getting a crappy seat. Line-ups for the concessions usually are not very long either and they have more than enough staff working them to keep things flowing quickly. Like I mentioned it isn't the biggest and best theatre but it is still pretty good. It's great going to see a movie and not having to fight lines and worry about getting a crappy seat. You can park in the parkade for $3 after 6pm which is pretty decent. If you don't mind walking a bit further then meter parking on the street is free after 6pm, but there isn't a lot of it. There is a small arcade if you want to kill some time with a bit of video games. The bathrooms were also updated years ago and are usually pretty clean. Fionn MacCool's is also next door if you want some pre or post bevies or food (and it has great food too - not your average pub fare). read more

SInce Landmark took over this theatre, they have done a great job at updating it and making it a more enjoyable movie-going experience. Previously, I found that this was my last resort for seeing a movie in the theatre - I would only make the drive downtown if they had a movie not showing at any of the other theatres in the city, but since the takeover, I have no problem heading here. The management has really made an effort in improving things - faster lines/more workers at the snack bar, renovated theatres (better sound and seating!!), and the place is always clean. Because this theatre is a little out of the way, it is less busy than some of the others in the city, and I hate to say this, but ti is not overrun with loud teenagers (I'm looking at you, WEM theatre!) - ya, I know I sound a hundred years old, but... And most important - the popcorn is top notch...and that's really how I grade a movie theater! read more

We won't be back to this theatre. We went to see the matinee showing of Star Wars on Sunday, and were charged the full admission price rather than for a matinee, because, according to the cashier, "it was a Disney movie". Really!? Like I said, we won't be back! Follow-up to above: Phoned management today about being charged full price rather than for a matinee, he informed me that it was company policy called "surge pricing", well, I call it 'gouging the customer'. How are they even allowed to do that? It seems to me that Landmark should be implementing policies to attract more people to their theatre rather than driving them away with hiking up their price for premium movies. Judging by how empty the theatre was, they really should re-think this policy. read more

It is impossible to hate this theatre. It is cheap, there are no lines, it's clean, and the seats are comfortable. If you want to go to a movie this is a nice little theatre to do so. It's kept pretty clean, which makes me happy considering that other movie theatres are downright disgusting. You can't use your scene card here or any cineplex coupons because it isn't affiliated. One con is that they literally let ANYONE in. There have been times where other people in the theatre were drunk, smoking cigs/weed, and belligerent. The staff don't really look equipped to handle stressful situations, so hopefully they have some systems in place to ensure safety. I don't feel safe coming here too late at night. read more

I used to come very often to this theater when I was living close to downtown. My office was just one block away from City Centre so sometimes we would go watch a movie right after work. City Centre has its own food court so we wouldn't need to go far if we wanted to have something to eat. It is so very convenient! There is parking available in the same building and they would validate your ticket on weekends or after 6pm. I think now they charge $5 dollars, but considering that the new Rogers arena is open and the street parking rules have changed, $5 is still reasonable. They have ticketing kiosks and now you can also use the Atom app; no need to line up anymore! Reel Deal Tuesdays are available at this location, adult admission is $7.99 read more

It's a good little cinema, honestly. We went here for a Yelp Elite Event to watch the new James Bond movie. Pros: Not busy when we went. Clean Pretzels (warm soft and lovely!) Friendly staff Later movies allow you to have validated parking in the East Lot, so you save on parking fees. Cons: Smaller screens Older style cinema with chairs on less of a slope. This means if someone tall sits in front of you (like what happened to me), you are blocked from the bottom of the screen unless you sway side to side. There were subtitles in the Bond movie, so I had to work with it. The small popcorn is comparable in price, but smaller than the Cineplex popcorn Location (I tend to go to the cinemas on the outskirts of the city like South Common, Windermere and Scotiabank, i.e. WEM). Going downtown is way out of the way for me. I wouldn't go out of my way to get there, but I also wouldn't walk away from it if there was something going on! read more

My favourite theatre in the city. Wednesday is the best day to go as they have a 2 for $35 deal that includes 2 tickets, a large popcorn, 2 large drinks and candy of your choice. They have coke freestyle machines with free refills, as well as free popcorn refills (butter is $1 extra even on refills). The theatres are always clean and the seats are average in comfort. The staff is friendly and the theatre isn't very busy which is nice. It's well worth the trip downtown for a movie night! read more

This is the perfect theatre for those who don't like lineups, expensive prices, and clean theatres! Although Landmark is not as fancy as it's main competitor, Cineplex, what it makes up for in keeping it simple, seems to be passed onto the consumer. The theatre we were in recently (#4) was clean, with thick, comfy seating! It was a smaller theatre yes, but that didn't detract from sound or picture quality. Oh, and the ladies bathrooms were pretty decent... the sinks though could use replacement as they are all stained brown and cracked at the bottom. My boyfriend and I were too full to sample any concession fare, but from a glance, the counters seemed well run, organized and well stocked. Best of all, if you go for a movie after 3pm, you are eligible for free parking in the West parkade! Just show the attendant your ticket stubs on exit =) read more

I don't come here very often as I don't live very close and I don't like paying for parking. Apparently you can get your ticket validated, it would be nice if they told people. It wasn't very busy which was nice for a Tuesday night. Lots of seating and the seats were comfortable. The theatre was clean I had asked for butter in the middle of my popcorn but didn't get it. I always find theatre food expensive but at least with a scene card you get points and discounts. read more

This is probably my favorite chain movie theatre in Edmonton. Now that might just be because it's not terribly busy but is at the same time very conveniently located and has comfortable well-maintained seats, but it's still a great theatre! I don't often come here to watch movies, but whenever I do, I find I'm satisfied with my experiences. I literally live down the street from a Cineplex theater so if I choose to come downtown, there's usually a very particular reason why. On my most recent visit, I came for a Yelp's Bond Affair event, to watch the movie Spectre. Another time, I came during the Edmonton International Film Festival. I've caught a couple films here during this festival. I love how there are opportunities for the writers and directors to have discussions about their films, in the actual movie theater. During this year's EIFF, I was able to watch Beeba Boys here and was also able to have to honor and privilege to have a picture with Deepa Mehta!! Definitely a special memory for me here at Landmark Cinema! The seating and atmosphere in the theaters are quite cozy. I find the crowds here, even on REEL deal Tuesdays ($7.99) aren't as hectic as you'd find in the other theaters around Edmonton. The concession stand offers the typical movie theater snacks and drinks your would expect such as popcorn, candy and pop. I find the prices of the movies and snacks comparable to the other places. There's also a lot of nearby restaurants located in and around the Edmonton City Center mall. This place is a great option for a dinner and a movie! read more

I recently posted my last review for Landmark Cinemas under the old Empire Theatres name but now there's a separate page for it so I'll do it again. Previously the movie theatre was owned by Empire Theatres and it was getting pretty run down. Landmark Cinemas has now taken over and has done some renovations. No more sticky floors and popcorn all over the lobby area so it seems like they've made some positive changes in terms of maintenance. In my review over a year ago of Empire, I mentioned that a movie like Transformers where you want the big sound should be watched elsewhere. Coincidentally I saw Transformers: Age of Extinction here and the sound was not lacking by any means. I'm not sure if they've upgraded the sound system but the theatre was shaking when Optimus Prime and his buddies were going at it. It was definitely better quality than what I remember, so I'm impressed. Still my favourite part about this theatre is that it's never busy. On the fifth day of its release, I saw this movie on a holiday (Canada Day) and a cheap Tuesday ($7.99 or $10.99 for 3D), and the place wasn't even half full. Sometimes I seriously wonder how this theatre stays in business but I'm not complaining! Based on my latest experience, 4 stars! read more

This cute little theatre is hidden on the top floor of Edmonton's City Centre in the heart of downtown. Had I not been invited to a Yelp event here I may never of known it existed. Unlike most box office theatres this little diamond in the rough is a total gem! It's nothing fancy, offers all the same movie theatre staples but at a much lower cost. Which makes my pocket book happy! Their theatres are very small, only seating about 60 people in the theatre I was in. But it was still comfy; sound and picture were suitable for my needs. The whole place was very clean, no garbage lying around or half eaten bags of popcorn strewn all over! The service here was not unlike most establishments where the average employee is still in high school. Friendly enough so that I will come back, but not over the top! I have no complaints! What I liked most about this theatre is how busy it wasn't! While my theatre was still full, it's wasn't packed with people and there were no huge lineups of people in a rush to get to their seat. I can't wait to come back! It's convenient location makes it a perfect place for date night! read more

Hands down best movie theater in Edmonton. Since moving downtown, one of the best parts is being a lot closer to Landmark then a Cineplex. doesn't smell strange, there is never any crowds or lines, no noisy teenagers talking the whole movie, they have discounted pricing on Tuesday & have a discounted package Wednesdays as well (2 admission, popcorn, drink at a discounted rate). The theaters are smaller however they are very spacious with tons of leg room. The best part of all though is you can pick whatever candy you want to come with your combo (nibs..mm) Certainly would recommend giving this theater a try if you are ever in the area or want to skip the line for a new flick. read more

Where this theatre really wins is that the lines aren't that bad. It's not as mice as all the new theatres around, but if you want to see a new release on opening night, this is the place where you can get a seat without waiting in line for an hour. Best movie theatre in Edmonton by a long shot. I have been coming here since it was a Famous Players and it's just been changing hands over the years. There was an extensive reno done a couple years ago and the seats in there are awesome. Super comfortable, lots and lots of leg space and the best part is the arms lift up so it makes it much easier to snuggle up to a date. I still say they serve the best popcorn, and I love that they have a student deal. Movie, popcorn and a drink for $15? A bit more than when it was Empire but still a great option you don't find at Cineplex. What I like most though is that they lend the theatre to the Edmonton International Film Festival and other independent screenings. They even have Shakespeare plays, filmed and performed in the Globe theatre in London screening at the Landmark theatre. I just think it's a unique product offering and a great way to grow their business. I don't know why this theatre changes ownership as much as it does, but I really hope it's here to stay. As long as it's still there I will continue to make it my first choice for movies. read more

The theatres popcorn is the best compared to other theatres around edmonton as long as it is made fresh. Not many people know that if you bring your movie ticket to the parkade when you exit they let you out for free ! Even I always forget that!! The theatre is always kept clean and is never overly busy so you are always able to get a comfortable seat. Not to mention I have never been in a line up to buy my movie ticket as they have many machines to purchase tickets at. There is also a few restaurants in the mall you can have dinner at prior to the movie. read more
