The theater has several different floors that can make it difficult to find what room your movie is in. Its a really comfortable place to see a film because it has really great seating it's very clean and the a/c is set at a perfect temperature. You can buy your ticket on their web site and print it out ahead of time so the entry time into the seating area of the theater is a breeze. Pretty reasonable ticket prices: $10.00 on a weekday. Stadium seating with leather chairs that semi-recline, cup holders, adequate number of seats, good sound and screen size, clean bathrooms, and you can buy popcorn, soda, and candy or drinks and food from the adjacent bar/pub. A clean theater right in the City that shows indies and foreign flicks with friendly not snobby employees? It's true! Buy your tix at the self-service touch screen stations or buy them from a friendly ticket person that doubles as a snack vendor. Real people! Theatres are large and clean with stadium seating, but they could use some of those loveseat thingeys. Movies are romantical. Hop on the elevator when you get in the building or take the MC Escher-like escalators through the mall, it's fun! There's validated parking or you're just steps from the 22, 36, and Diversey buses, and not far from the Diversey Brown Line stop. Landmark Century is miles better than Webster Place or City North's Chuck E. Cheese madness. read more

This has become one of my favorite movie theaters. Walking distance to my apartment so if on a Sunday afternoon I feel like catching a movie...I can! This place is never jam packed, not roudy with hooligans..heh, always wanted to use that word in a sentence, and I've yet to see or hear any whiney, screaming kids. This movie theater is a cut above the rest. I just saw vice there on Xmas Day and had a fantastic experience. I was really impressed by the comfortable bar with great seating. It's great to leave the theater and have a chance to walk down the five floors before exiting to the winter mess outdoors in the winter. The one star off is because they have not yet switched to reserved seating. Reserved seating is the norm, not the exception. I hate that they have the box office right there when you enter the mall because no one mans it. This movie theater used to show art films and had an audience of special film fans. Now it is trying to be just like all the others and that Hollywood blockbusters movie theaters are NOT doing well. This building was originally the Diversey Theater when it opened in 1924. It was designed by Edward Eichenbaum of the architecture firm Levy & Klein with an ornate Spanish Baroque facade. The current movie screens are located at the top levels of the mall. They show mainstream flicks and also some offbeat films too. This is usually one of the participating theaters in the annual Chicago International Film Festival during the fall. read more

SO grateful to have a wonderful indie theatre like this right by my apartment. I hate myself for not going here more often but I'm in and out of town a lot so it can be difficult catching a film not on the weekends. I used to work in this mall and my gym is also here so sometimes I get anxiety walking in having retail club clothes selling flashbacks (express) or elliptical machine related tremors but that passes quickly as I take the elevator up to the theatre. The prices are comparable to most theatres and the space is as nice as a non historical movie theater in a mall can be. The theaters themselves are fairly large and the seats are comfortable and spacious. The popcorn begs me with its delectable scent and every time I say "ok" and get a bag and I'm rarely disappointed. I've gone a few times following dinner with leftovers and I've never had anyone hassle me, which is nice. But the best part are the movie options. Ranging from larger indie fare to smaller films this theatre and Piper's Alley do a nice job of covering the indie scene for Chicago. I'm truly grateful for its presence and its proximity to my humble abode. read more

Came here twice over the years for two special movie showings. I saw the Angry Video Game Need movie, and I saw an early screening of The Mister Rodgers documentary. There's not much to say about the theater itself. They do a sharper incline for the rows of seats than most theaters, I believe (Don't quote me). During both showings, someone from the theater would give a little spiel about no recording device Estancia are special releases. To go along with the theater, it's in a building with a lot of activities which ranges from food to axe throwing. There is also a bar which you could take the drink to the theater. I went to two (different) shows in one day here. Was a bit surprised that a matinee ticket costs $8, but I suppose you pay a premium because these are not wide-released films. Inside the actual theater, there were some issues with noise. Foremost, the seats in both theaters I watched films in were INSANELY squeaky!! (Seriously, WD40 that shit!) Also, during the first film, the bass from whatever was playing next door was cranked up so high that it was making the seats in our theater vibrate. At first I thought someone down the row was jogging their knee or something to make the adjoining seats tremble, but no, it was because of the sound next door. Very distracting. Still, the films I saw were good, with good previews, the seats were comfortable, and the audience generally quiet (why is this such a rare thing anymore??) So for that Landmark deserves a thumbs up. My other thumb goes down due to the squeaky seats and noise issues. Three stars is all this film emporium is getting for now. read more

Okay, you might be thinking "who tf writes a review for a movie theater?" Well, me, okay? Because this is a really great theater. I think this theater has been recently renovated because it seems very clean and sleek inside. They've got theaters with regular GA seating as well as the nice reclining chairs. AND it's an e ticketing theater on MoviePass-- not sure how long that's going to last, though. RIP in peace. The concessions are moderately priced (I think) and there's a nice seating area with a bar to enjoy a drink or two before the showing. Movies are more fun when you're buzzed anyway. They also play a good selection of movies that aren't necessarily art house but aren't the same incessant Hollywood remake machine fare that you'd expect from most big theaters. It's a great theater in the heart of Lakeview (and kind of the only one nearby unless you want to go to the nasty ass Vic for Brew and View). Definitely check it out before going to a downtown AMC. read more

If Indie and artistic movies are your thing- then this is the place in Chicago to see them. The Landmark Century City Cinema brings some of the best movies to town which makes it worth some of the small inconveniences that exist here. First- the positives- as I've already said- the films themselves are amazing. Some films only play here when they come to Chicago which is what brings me across town to this theater. Secondly, they validate parking for the large garage next door so parking is only $5. Here's a tip on that garage as it is a bit of a maze to get out of once you leave your car. It's counter intuitive- once you enter the stairway- veer to the left and go down versus staying on the main stairway. You need to get into the main building stairs or elevators to get to the theaters (or any thing in the Century Centre) Also know that you do not have to stand in the line to pay for your parking at the pay machines if you are paying by credit card. Just drive out- insert your ticket and then insert your credit card into the gate machine. Saves a ton of time! So what's the downside? There is a Bally's fitness club above some of the theaters, with dozens of people pounding along on treadmills and the like. It's a bit like being in an apartment when your neighbor upstairs starts a home remodeling project, with all the noise. And while they post signs at the door of the theater that the "vibrations" or thumping may be distracting and they will refund your money- I wish there was some way to know that before you get to the theater. It didn't bother me all that much- but my friends found it highly distracting. At one point the seats were actually vibrating! It really depends on the luck of the draw as to what theater your movie is playing in as you may never notice any noise or vibration (I've been here several times and this is the first time I've felt it). But whatever the small inconvenience is, the beauty and depth of the movie showing before you makes up for it in the end. read more

First time going to the cinema after COVID. No a lot of people and it has social distance. Food was good too

A beehive for both mainstream and independent film for over the past few decades, Landmark Century Centre Cinema is located smack dab in the middle of the mall so that you can catch a flick while filling up shopping bags in the process! While the theatre is located on top of the mall there is a neat series of ramps and escalators as well as elevators for the handicapped. Tickets were $11.00 a pop for Ghost Writer and there were popcorn bags and popcorn strewn about as we entered the theater but otherwise for these small dabs the rest of the theater was clean. A giant Diet Coke cost me $4.75 but that is the price of doing business. Seats were adequate and Sunday night movies tend to be very sparsely populated. The screen was big and image was clear and the other patrons in the theatre were respectful and well-behaved. I like it read more

Landmark is a reliable brand. This one doesn't get the special events the one in LA can draw, but they do some, and get movies no one else has, or has as early. Entry to the theater is on the fourth floor. They're efficient at selling tickets and getting you in. They seem to do a decently brisk business, I guess there's not a ton of competition in the immediate area. The seats are comfortable and don't seem too grody, which is about all you can ask for in a movie theater I suppose. Actually, they're a sort of pleather, which seems a lot easier to clean than nasty red or purple fabric. There's a parking lot in the building and there are payment machines by the theater. There's lots of bike parking near the entrance, just south. There's also lots of good food within a few blocks (Crisp and del Seoul for example). read more

The last time I was at Century to see a movie, I was pulled aside and asked to watch a movie preview and give my opinion. That movie preview was... Titanic. Yeah, that was a long time ago. I had been begging my dude to go see A Serious Man with me for months... and when I finally got him to agree, the only theater it was playing at was Century. Then... my dude had to work. So one of my gays graciously stepped in. Bless his heart. I guess that extra information is pretty unnecessary... but what I'm trying to say is that I waited so long, I didn't have a choice in theaters and I was GOING to see this movie. I loved the movie selection. They were also showing the Academy Award nominated animated shorts which piqued my interest. The other movie I've been dying to see is playing here as well... but at $11 a pop in a terrible theater when it's now out on DVD? Why? No stadium seating? Teeny tiny screens? Where do you get off charging $11 when I can go elsewhere and have a much better theater experience for the same price? I dunno. I guess the lesson I learned here is don't drag when a movie comes out or you'll be stuck seeing it in a crappy theater. But an extra star for an interesting variety of films! read more

I've been here a few times of the years and have clearly been derelict in giving it a ringing endorsement. Things have changed a tad as they've gotten a wee bit fancier and added a bar, but while the mall around it has fallen into despair, Landmark just keeps churning out great experiences. Movies: Mostly Indie an almost always something amazing to be seen. Obviously this is super subjective, but 9 out of 10 times I've enjoyed what I've seen. Seating: Somewhere in the last decade or so they've upgraded the seating. It's not the lush leather chairs that recline all the way back, but they do lean back a bit and are quite comfortable. Food: I mean it's a movie theater, c'mon guys. The key here though is the REAL Butter on the popcorn. Seriously, this alone is a win over most places. Cleanliness: Occasionally i'm underwhelmed by the job the crew does between shoes. Almost busted my behind getting into my seat on what I can only assume was some butter or oil on the floor. Fortunately Mr. Rogers made me forget all about it. I only wanted to deduct half a star for this, alas Yelp is not always perfect. 4.5 stars. read more

This theater was a godsend to the neighborhood, restoring the beautiful Century Centre from a crappy mall back to its original purpose. And even better, it shows mostly smaller independent films, and participates in many of the city's great film festivals. It's so nice to have a good theater within walking distance. If you go often enough, it's worth it to buy a discount card. I have one now, but it doesn't say how much I paid -- possibly $6.50 a movie, saving at least $3 a movie. It isn't valid on Fri & Sat after 6pm though. The stadium seating is great, but the theaters are somewhat small, so popular movies can sell out, or have bad seat options. Staff is nice about giving a refund if you don't want to sit in the front row (you get a coupon to use for another movie whenever you like). read more

For some reason I feel like I have been to Evanston before to see movies and it was a lot more congested and convoluted... I am not sure if this is the same place because I recall a Wolfgang Pucks in the same building and this one didn't seem to have that... Anywhoo... this is a nice clean theater... and 1 of 3 in the area that is showing a limited release art (?) film I was waiting for... and the screen was curved. Love that!!! Also... apparently you can bring in food and drinks and basically treat this like it was your living room. .. with a 60' TV screen. That's pretty amazeballs. I had some candy from World Market that I made noise with to open... damn... if I had known it was BYO... anything... might have brought more drinks and not paid $4.50 for a small bottle of water. Seats are okay not great but it was comfy for what it was... and I might actually be back.... when I'm feeling avant guarde-y. ;-) P.S. They do have movies you can't see anywhere else on the big screen and the seats are very comfortable. That said, the layout of the theaters is confusing. And then you're forced to exit down a steep stairwell. The whole setup is very poorly thought out and doesn't seem like it's being operated the way it was originally intended but most likely because it wasn't engineered to deal with the volume of customers it receives. And it's still just as expensive as anywhere else. read more

Best small theater in Chicago. Its a clean theater with comfy chairs, friendly staff, good concessions, and art house house flicks. They get 4 stars instead of five because of the location. Unless you live close to the area, driving there and parking can be a real pain in the arse. I have driven over there several times and found the theater parking lot to be full. If that happens, even offering to sell your soul to the Devil will not easily find you a legal parking spot in that neighborhood. read more

Seating is really bad. Small airline seating would best describe this place. I was so uncomfortable that I left halfway through a really bad movie. No loss. Narrow seats, guy in front of me kept banging my legs as he went into a frenzy of twitching as did the guy next to me. I finally left, Never again. This place is a dump! Ooof, very friendly staff, but definitely understaffed. Only one person cleaning the theaters before and after shows. Someone vomited in the bathroom and staff said they were waiting for everyone to vacate the bathroom before cleaning. I don't think anyone would have minded if you just started cleaning the vomit! I like that there are decent beers and drinks available to bring in your movie. They do offer more independent/indie films which is nice. Seats are alright but not the new recliner-style ones. Maybe it was just my movie but way more obnoxious crowd than usual, maybe it's the neighborhood? read more

I love this theatre! It's my go-to. Small, local, and right in the center of the Lakeview/Lincoln Park borderline. This place has a cute little bar area too. They show a mixture of foreign and indie films here, along with some of the more popular ones. I like the fact that it's never too crowded here. I can get here 5 minutes before the movie begins, grab a snack and still make it just in time. Movies don't stay here very long, though. They tend to change fairly often. I think they change quicker here than most other theatres in the area. That just means you'll have to come that much more frequently! read more

I feel like whoever designed this mall and theater was a really big fan of MC Escher. Probably had one of his posters on college. It's a nice enough theater. Big screen. Comfy seats. However, it lacks a homey atmosphere or character. Even theaters a bit corporate have touches of character like the AMC 21 downtown (bowling, bars). A plus is they show indies and foreign films but it is worth noting each flick stays for like 2 months at a time. I wish they'd design a theater Lisa Frank inspired. I can't say enough great things about this movie theater . At Clark and Diversey, its an easy location to get to from anywhere in Lakeview/Lincoln Park. Also, bathrooms and theaters have always been very clean whenever I I love the selection of movies at Century Centre. It's a good mix of "big", blockbuster movies and smaller budget, critically acclaimed films. Also, I appreciate the fact that Century Centre allows for e-pass tickets through MoviePass. Not many theaters in the Chicago area provide this service. This is my go to downtown Chicago movie theatre--you can't go wrong here! read more

I love this movie theatre for a bunch of reasons. First of all, it has movies here that you can't catch other places. We've come here to watch some really obscure flicks and lots of foreign movies. I really appreciate that they show the movies other theaters will not. They validate for parking, only 5.00 for 4 hours. Quite the deal! Last time we had a crêpe lunch and saw a Chilean film in that time frame. The chairs are super comfortable, the aisles nicely spaced and the place is super clean. It is also kindof quirky in its layout and I like that also. Plus the people who come here are extremely considerate. They love movies and watching them without people talking. It is a bit pricey and far from my house otherwise I would make this my regular place to sit in the dark and immerse myself in a celluloid fantasy world. Shhh, the movie is just about to begin. A Little Hidden Gem Great theater . They have a nice little bar area that you can get a drink and small appetizer type foods before or after the movie . Good cocktail and wine selection . Popcorn is yummy . Seating is very comfortable . Venue is clean . Friendly staff . Lots of independent films and things that are not in regular theaters so enjoying that type of genre is a must if you want to visit frequently . We love when we can use this theater . read more
