Everything else was fine As a local I was hoping to find somewhere to come back to more often. This is it, just hope they put a key card on that door, or at least a warning. It's all about the location. The food is very average. Located at the end of the spit, there are great views from the restaurant. It's fun to spend time looking out over the beautiful water. Our server was very kind and friendly but clearly he wasn't quite comfortable with his job. He was here as a seasonal worker, arriving from another country, and he was working very hard to do a good job but his inexperience showed. Not an important matter to us. I ordered the seafood chowder, tolerable but not exceptional. The texture was thick but not heavy. It was bland, not fishy, but tasting of not much of anything. The pieces of clams were small (my friend said they were chopped) and I don't recall potato in the soup. It worked for me because I wanted a cheaper meal. I'd read the reviews and talked to a person exiting the restaurant who was not at all happy with her meal. I wasn't prepared to spend a lot of money only to be disappointed. My other friend ordered a green salad that looked fresh, made with dark greens. She was very happy with her conventional style salad. The others in my party were not impressed with their meals but didn't have any specific complaints. Land's end is so quaint. Definitely worth the extra money to pay for the ocean side view. Why stay at a hotel in Homer if you're going to stare at the parking lot from your room? Rooms are clean, peaceful and welcoming. It literally is at Land's end - the very tip of Homer spit. I like that it's got history and they display all sorts of interesting facts along the walls of the rooms. I really loved the marine themed decorations, from the dolphin that greets you at your door with your room number to the bed headboard and anchor hooks to drape your towels and jackets. It's not new or renovated, but I loved staying here! The beds were very comfy and the shampoo/conditioner was the best I've ever used at a hotel. It made my hair so soft and smells nice. There is a hot tub downstairs and shower! I didn't get to use the hot tub but you definitely should. There's a restaurant and coffeeshop also that's downstairs. read more

Definitely a highlight of our trip. The balcony's overlooking the bay were amazing. The sea otters played each day and we flew kites on beach. We could walk spit and to marina for our tours. And the sunsets on deck as well as using the hot tubs were wonderful It is a special property and staff do nice job. Will be back read more

Booked a room here through Booking.com while in Homer attending my sons Football game. When I booked the room I confirmed a 4 PM check-in time as we had to be at the field at 5. I arrived at the hotel at 4 and proceed to the front desk where I'm met by Sean. He stated that 5 spam is the guaranteed check-in time and I'd be called when my room was ready. When I asked why I was confirmed for 4 he just angrily repeated the same previous statement. Sean must be a miserable person because he had a full on attitude as soon as we walked in, I witnessed him be nasty with several guests aside from myself. Aside from the horrible guest services folks at the counter the hotel is just ok. It's nothing close to a resort though. A hotel with a restaurant attached doesn't qualify as a resort solely on those merits and there's nothing more to it that I saw. The room was nicely done but super small. The little deck off the room would fit 2 people bu only if we removed the chairs from the deck. We literally stood shoulder to shoulder to both stand on the deck and look out. If you're needing a decent place to sleep this spot isn't bad but don't get your hopes up with the word "RESORT". Lands End is no Resort read more

I'm only giving this a 1 star because I can't give it a zero. The rooms are not cheap, for the price we paid there was not maid service the entire time we were there. The dishwasher literally smelled like dead fish...we couldn't use it. The appointments for the hot tub were impossible to get. All of that was manageable; however, the staff was rude on top of dealing with the high prices and other disappointing issues. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone...save your money!! read more

If you're planning a trip to Land's End Resort in Homer, I suggest you lower you customer service expectations to zero. Over the weekend we rented a "Luxury Lodge", which was not ready at the advertised check in of 4pm. It took an extra hour to finally get our keys and get settled. Mid evening as we sat on the couch the fire alarm went off, for 45 straight. This is not a little residential alarm, think commercial style ear piercing high pitch noise. This instantly gave a member of the party a migraine and we had to go outside and sit in the truck while we waited. Why did it take 45 mins to fix this simple problem? Well it turns out the condo connected to ours by a wall is operated by a company other than Land's End. This means they cannot turn the system, only the outside manager. Why they do not have a set of emergency keys I have no idea. But given their incompetence overall it's not surprising. I called the front desk and requested 1/2 of the first night be Comp'd which I felt totally reasonable as the "relaxing vacation" evening was ruined. I was informed shortly before check out by Heidi Loop who ironically enough holds the title of "hotel/guest experience manager" that Land's End will not be providing any compensation as Land's End "inculpable" for the fire alarm. Well that's a hot take, no they did not set the alarm off. But last I checked it's their job to provide a safe, relaxing destination and they failed. During checkout thus morning I proceeded to play the video attached. I was told it was "distracting", "disruptive" and not necessary. Well that's real funny because how do you think it felt to be in that condo? It was all of that and more. To not try and offer a customer anything is absolutely ridiculous. I did not ask for the moon I don't believe. But I can assure you I'll never spend another cent with these people. Must order the fresh Kachemak oysters with horseradish! If you're lucky enough to have Holly serve your table, she will recommend the freshest and best. We stayed at one of the condos and it had stunning views! Our best stay in Alaska. Condo was clean but smelt musty when we first got in. I opened the windows to let in fresh air and it became fine after that. The views from the master bedroom were even better. The staff were exceptional and they had a text service where we could text any questions and they would immediately respond. I am removing one star because the master bedroom did not have proper blinds to keep out all the light. I was quite surprised by this oversight as every other place we stayed in alaska had black out curtains. It was almost 24h of daylight and our little one had trouble sleeping and it was a slight damper on the stay. The staff said that the owners had not fixed it and there was nothing they could do. They gave us eye masks but our 2y.o would not wear them. read more

We loved Land's End, brought our whole family here for a wedding. The hotel is 5 stars. The rooms are immaculate, the view is spectacular and location is clearly defining the last frontier. We had a mix up in our room and Tammy went out of her way to clear up the issue, she is all about making our experience here amazing. This hotel may be rated by different categories but Tammy proved to us and our whole family that service makes the hotel. We all agreed that Land's end should be rated a 10. Lands End Resort... more like Lands End Motel. The quality of the rooms do not reflect the price you pay for a place referred to as a "Resort". The minuscule room in the bathroom requires you to put a foot in the tub in order to close the door if you would like to have privacy on the toilet. The room itself had no bed bugs but did have other pests such as flies in the room. The furniture needs an upgrade since it all is very dated, the refrigerator was open when we came into our room, we closed it and set it to the coldest setting, after coming back for some time, the fridge was not cold at all (and was plugged in a functioning outlet). We tried calling front desk, however was not able to get a hold of them since the dated phone was not working (also plugged in). The coffee maker is cheap and the coffee tasted awful and old. When you run the shower and operate the head, it leaks from the screw end of the shower head and water still leaks from the bottom faucet. The pillow covers are rough and making sleeping an uncomfortable experience. The sand paper sheets did not help either. There are also no black out curtains, making it difficult to sleep at night in the long daytime summers of Alaska. There are many different options to enjoy the Homer Spit over night such as staying at an AirBnb or the condos nearby. However, I would make this absolute last option. read more

In Alaska for 7 days and stayed at the resort for 2 of those days. Honestly two days too long. Staying here was the worst part of the stay. While the views are beautiful and absolute perfection, stay somewhere that has better upkeep and respect for its clients and walk to the beaches to get the views. The Wi-Fi is absolutely garbage, so if you need to do work, don't expect to get any done. I paid the upcharge to get the basket for our room, not only did I receive it late into our trip (I had to go ask the front desk for it), it looks nothing like the website. It looks extremely cheap and is not worth the money. The two vouchers for the coffee weren't even able to be used, we received the basket so late the first day that the coffee shop was already closed. The second day, we waited 30 minutes past the time the coffee shop was supposed to open and the manager laughed and said "I must have made someone mad this morning" as if it was a joke that the barista was a no show. Why wasn't the manager stepping in to take care of the line of people waiting for coffee? So I had to give the coffee vouchers I PAID for to someone else cause we couldn't wait any longer and had to hit the road. This place is not what it is hyped up to be. read more

If you eat here, ask for a table next to the waters. It's almost heaven eating your lunch and watching the sea birds flying in groups among the ice-bergs floating in the waters. It was quite an experience. The lodge itself is clean and the staff is quite helpful. read more

The resort has excellent views and is at the end of the spit; however, is a little dated especially for the price of a room. The other downside being is the size of the beds in the rooms as a majority are doubles. The resort is overdue for a makeover. read more

We stayed in a Suite, the room was nice but for almost $200 a night I expected a little more pizazz; you are paying for the view and being on the water. The room was extremely hot and stuffy even after turning down the heat however they do have a fan provided in the room which made a big difference. Waking up and being able to walk the beach is really nice and there is agreat cushioned garden window in the room to sit and enjoy the view. Food is mediocre but decently priced and the wait staff was great. If you want to be on the beach and have a great view this is your spot. read more

We stayed in a midship king room with a view overlooking the bay. It was really very nice. There was a small deck that in the summer would be great for having coffee. Room had a very nice and comfortable King bed in it and the greatest pillows! There was a fridge, coffee maker and microwave in room. The outdor hot tub was really nice overlooking the beach and water. There is a endless lap pool and sauna available as well. It is off season so the room was pretty cheap for homer. The food in the resuarant was very good and not overpriced. The only minor complaint was it was the room was so hot the first night and the thermostat was urned all the way down. Overall, the condo we rented was great. I have zero issues with the sleeping accommodations, and this place would have gotten five stars. The views and beach access were phenomenal. That being said, I would have given this review 1 star if I was rating the restaurant connected to it. Long story long, we traveled all day seeing the sites as we came in from Anchorage. We got checked in and went and dropped our bags and headed out to find a bite to eat. We figured the hotel restaurant would be the best place to eat as it was the closest. Wrong. We entered the restaurant and there were several people waiting on the host/ hostess to come seat them. I asked the family that was waiting how long they had been standing there, and if they had spoken to anyone. They stated they had been there for five minutes and had spoken to nobody. I said okay and just poked my head into the restaurant to see if I could see anyone that could help us. My 68 year old father was on his way to the window area of the restaurant to see how the temperature was over there. An angry man came from the back and literally yelled at my father "you are not allowed in here, get back!" I, of course was not keen on seeing my father get yelled at, so I said, "chill out man, we're just here to eat". He then told me "I don't need to chill out, you need to stay out of the restaurant area." At this point, my blood was about to boil over, but I took his verbal abuse and said - "look, we've had a long day and just want to get on the waiting list. By the way, this couple behind me was here before us and has not spoken to anyone yet." He instructed me to come to the host stand and I obliged. He started taking my name down and I reminded the guy that the couple was in front of us (I thought maybe he would want to take their information first) and he abruptly and quite rudely stated he heard me the first time and he knows exactly what was going on. I then requested to see a manager. He stated he WAS the manager. I was on the verge of losing it, so I left the area and went to speak with the front of the house about this guy. I caught his manager as she was leaving and they assured me they would rectify the situation ASAP. So what happened? They sat us immediately in front of the couple that was waiting before us. Strike two. Gave us a server that told us multiple times, she has never served before. Strike three. I ordered the 14 oz Halibut, which was undercooked, but more importantly NOT HALIBUT. It had a "v" bone like a northern pike would. To my knowledge, there aren't any "V" bones in Halibut. I think they gave me bait fish. At this point, my blood pressure was so high, I just decided to let it all go and try to enjoy my night. Didn't happen. I thought this many be the best way to rectify the situation. Oh - btw, they didn't offer us anything comped or really anything at all other than an apology. I may just stick to Seward next time. read more

Land's End Resort is probably the most reviewed, highly sought-after accomodations in Homer. It's on the Spit, so naturally it can be touted as a unique experience in an awesome natural setting. But....Homer is on an enormous hillside, where amazing views abound from the majority of accomodations. You'd actually have to work pretty hard to find a hotel that didn't have a view. But anyway, yes, it is an amazing hotel and I'm glad I crossed it off my bucketlist. The outdoor whirlpool was especially awesome at dusk, watching the boats in Kachemak Bay come in from a long day of fishing. The restaurant was pretty good as well. Oh and mice in the lobby. 2 hours for one round of drinks in the restaurant and you have to hunt down the waitress to pay your own bill. Toilet (aka the commode) doesn't work in your new tiny room, minus bugs. Staff didn't know what the bugs were and gave us a vacuum to clean them up. Argued for our refund. Took two hours to get a new room that barely fit everyone. read more

This place was alright. I've been to Homer often enough, but never have eaten here. I came with two friends for dinner, and the service was pretty good. It seemed like they were understaffed, as it was a little hard getting some attention, but the waitresses were nice enough. My friends ordered the cured salmon and halibut gravlax with rye toast points. It came out in chunks, looking strangely like pico de gallo. The toast points were of three or four giant dark pieces of bread, which seemed awkward for a shared appetizer. They didn't like how the fish were in chunks; it would have been better in slices. They said the halibut was very bland, and didn't taste well. Two of us ordered drinks, and for being $8-9 cocktails, I would have hoped the bar would be using quality ingredients. My friend got a hot chocolate-based cocktail (it was damn cold, and we needed to warm up), and it was powdered machine hot chocolate, as I could hear it dispensing from around the corner. The drinks came in small glass coffee mugs with cheap canned whipped cream. The beverages tasted okay, but for that money, I would have expected something a *little* nicer. $9 gets you a hand-shaken, really high quality cocktail at some bars in Anchorage. I ordered the macaroni and cheese with an apple panzanella salad that had a curry dressing. The mac and cheese was really good. The salad was.. weird. It was served in one of those cheap buffet-style glass plates, with a little splash of dressing in a plastic paper cup. For $8, it wasn't a whole lot of lettuce even, and they forgot to put the croutons on it, which were brought to me on the side (total: five dry rye croutons, hardly making it a "panzanella" salad). The tangy curry dressing didn't pair well with the slices of Granny Smith apples -- it really should have had a sweeter or less tart fruit to complement the overpowering dressing. One companion had some pan grilled halibut that he needed some butter and tartar sides to bump up the flavor. The other ordered fried calamari and a warmed bacon and spinach salad, which the dressing was forgotten. However, when we needed stuff, it was promptly brought to us. The waitress told us the menu had changed as of Tuesday, which I think is a terrible thing to do in the middle of the summer when all of the tourists are here. What a pain for the servers to have to relearn a whole bunch of stuff and for current customers to essentially be test subjects for new menu items. I wasn't completely turned off; it had a great view, but it was also really cold inside, yet hot alcoholic drinks helped. I don't think the menu as it is is the best, since it seems like a bunch of weird experimental stuff that they're trying to throw together to make the selection seem more eclectic and fancy. The service, while frazzled, was pleasant enough. I'll probably come here again, but after they work out all of the kinks. read more

For Homer...yes, this is as good as it gets. I've been coming down here since the early 80s when I was stationed in Anchorage. Fast forward to 8 years ago when I became a Homer resident. It's still there, and for good reason. Uniquely situated at the tip of the Homer Spit, this is the only full service property in a bustling tourist and marine trades environment. Land's End boasts a variety of room types including the luxury town homes adjacent to the hotel that are perfect for families and larger groups. The meeting spaces are good for functions, and many conventions are held here. Fresh, locally-caught ingredients are transformed into delicious meals in the restaurant, and come with a complimentary million dollar view. I no longer live in Homer, but I keep my boat in the harbor. When I can't spend the night on board, Land's End has a welcoming room ready for me. read more

Didn't like the Shower head (pisss) and hated how the damn light switches off after ten minutes if your not moving by the doorway. Really? I had a terrible breakfast though, the waitress made it better immediately and whole hardily agreed with my nitpicking and without me asking dropped the meal off the bill. I will go back to stay but will take a wide berth of the restaurant. read more

We went during off season for a romantic weekend, the weekend after Valentine's. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room had nice ammenities (fridge, microwave, extra mirrored vanity, flat screen and DVD player). My only complaint is the mattress and bedding felt more low end (think Best Western) than you would expect at that price. However, it is Alaska. And the location absolutely made up for it. We stood at our window and on the balcony and watched sea otters, seals, and shorebirds. In the morning we ate breakfast in the restaurant. Good food and service and more spectacular views and wildlife watching. I ordered the eggs benedict which were a bit salty, but great. His food was much the same. Standard but well made breakfast fare. Despite both being Alaskans, we'd never stayed there before and we are so glad we did. It's a great choice to wake up and see the waves, mountains, and wildlife out the window. read more

Lands End is situated on the very edge of the spit, so naturally the views are gorgeous. We had a first floor suite with a small deck outside that was right on the beach. The hotel itself does have a bit of a beachy Florida motel feel, seems like a great place for families with kids, given the suite setup. We had a little breakfast sitting area by the window in the master room, and in addition to the queen bed in the second room it looked like you could fold out some bunk beds. The entire suite probably slept 5-6 and I think was one of the smaller ones. Everything was clean when we checked in. We were only there for one night, so there wasn't much room for things to go wrong. I will have to say that was probably the hardest bed I've ever slept on in the United States haha. On a happy note though, the inner room of the suite was literally pitch black (it was windowless), finally a shield from the daylight I hadn't gotten a break from our entire (June) vacation. Basically, the location is what makes this place great, the actual hotel itself is good enough to not detract from the views and the beach. read more

Beautiful condo but we reserved a spot at the pool and the staff told us we weren't allowed to use the hot tub as they are separate reservations so we left as the pool is not an actual pool it's a kiddy pool at best. Please don't advertise a pool if that isn't what you offer it's 4 feet deep at it's deepest point and it's maybe 6 foot by 4 feet. read more

The best to stay are the town houses that are off to the side. A lovely hotel, right on the tip of the Spit jutting out into Kachemak Bay, Alaska. The rooms are stylish, clean and most have a terrific view of the bay and glacier-topped mountains across the bay. The food in the attached restaurant is delicious! The bar is sociable with good wines and cocktails. This the hotel that my family chooses to stay in while they visit us in Homer from Colorado and Texas. The prices are reasonable, breakfast is handy and quite hearty, there are all kinds of tours to take, some even across the bay - a side trip well worth taking! There'a hot tub for aching legs after hiking or kayaking, and there are a few wonderful massage therapists on hand, too. At day's end, you can tuck into clean sheets, all warm and cozy, for a good nights sleep, undisturbed by nothing louder than the occasional cries of a seabird, and the soft roar of the gentle surf rolling in. I call it Homer's version of the once famous chain, the Holiday Inns! Made for providing good rooms at reasonable rates for traveling families, it changed the way Americans viewed hotels and family vacations, too! My family was once very much a "Holiday Inn" kind of family, and they've all liked to stay at Land's End when visiting me in Homer. I love it , too .. I don't have to make the bed, wash armloads of sheets and towels, cook meals for 6 to 12 people, and can concentrate on enjoying my family! . Win?Win?Win - all the way around! read more

I have not stayed at this place yet. But their communication with my reservation was horrible - saying something else and doing something else. I booked a standard bay suite for 5 people on 12th Feb and my booking was confirmed the same day. Then 2 days later they called me to say that there has been a mistake and they made 2 reservations simultaneously for the same place and thus asked me to change my reservation. They offered me 2 Midship Bay rooms and since it was their fault told me that they will make up the price difference and thus I will only pay my original price. They also thanked me for being flexible. I got a mail confirming the two rooms and I thought that was the end of it. But today I happened to be checking my credit card statement and they had charged me fully for the two room thus increasing my cost by 60% from what it was supposed to be. I called them to point out the issue and now they are telling me that they gave me 10% discount and are sorry for the confusion. I want to clarify there was no talk about a 10% discount - it was just that they will keep my price the same which would have made sense. But now they are simply refusing to honor that deal. read more
