We went to the restaurant, which I have been going to since I was a kid and used to work there. Incredibly bad service in the bar (dining) room was closed. We were not acknowledged except for sighs by the bartender who took our order at a table with a bottle in her hand because she was making it obvious she was too busy prepping to say hello or take our order. After waiting 45 minutes for basic burgers, we were told it was going to be even longer because we ordered them medium well. So, we left hungry and disappointed from a restaurant we used to really enjoy. The owners, Jon and Sara, worked hard to establish a nice business and this is just sad. read more

Everyone has been very welcoming and the room is extremely cozy. The room I stayed in had a balcony overlooking the water and the views were amazing. During the day, a pair of bald eagles sat in front of the hotel's patio. The hotel is a little older and may lack on some amenities, but it is a great place to stay while in Homer. read more

Absolute worst service I've ever had. It took us 45 minutes to even be greeted, another 30 to get our drinks, about two hours to get our food, and about an hour to get our check, which they basically refused to split for us. The music is the most depressing classical I've heard in my life. The servers were caddy, unprofessional, and inexperienced. View is great, but I'd rather eat a jean jacket then step foot in this establishment again. I've had more fun at funerals then at this place. read more

We live in Sterling, Alaska and we visit Homer 3-4 times a year, each time we have been Staying at Lands End until last year, we love the view, our room was fine, food was great, but the bartender in the lounge is grouchy, not friendly, and if you wanting a couple beers or cocktails before you order your food, she doesn't like that, she wants you to eat and get out of there, it's a real shame, she is still employed there, I can't believe it, but I guess when your best friends with the manager, they are gonna keep you hired on there, so needless, to say you lost our business, our past 3 visits, we have found another place, with friendly bar staff!! read more

Overall, the main hotel is old and dated. Rooms were clean, comfortable and got the job done; however, if you remove the location and the view this would be a low level rated hotel; it works because you and everyone else will absolutely sacrifice what is missing for the view and location. Every single room has a beautiful ocean view and are located right on the beach. The condos, also on the property but significantly more expensive were updated and the 3 that I was able to get into (because I had friends staying on premises at the same time) were all very nice (the one furthest from the main building I was in was the nicest of them all). The restaurant at the hotel was not geed at all (one star or less). We went into the grocery store in town (Safeway) and got basic supplies there is a mini fridge and microwave in the room and plenty of counter space for the basics. fitness center is nonexistent but Bay Club just off the spit will make do but is $18/day or $50/week; there are also running/biking trails up and down the spit. I also had a business meeting while there, the conference room is large and again has a great view. We did have lunch i the room and the sandwiches were good. This place used to have really good food I really have like this place in the past but recently I was really disappointed ordered a Caesar salad with the grilled rockfish $18 the Caesar salad was like no better than something you can buy in the store that comes in a bag, no flavor no pizzaz and I I can't stand those little hard dry worthless croutons. The rock fish was good but it was about about 4 ounce piece very chintzy I thought for $18. Nice view I guess you pay extra for that but I'm not gonna be eating here much anymore in the future. read more

First, expect calling and leaving messages and then returning call and getting no one for hours. When registering expect to approve a little line that says there is a charge for anything not in the room. When we checked in we were assigned a 2nd floor room--I had told the woman 3rd floor. Elevator is in 3 unit--we were put in 2nd unit. Bed was so high I couldn't get my butt up on it. Hubby could barely get in. Called front desk--oh a step stool if we retrieved it. We found our own box. Toilet was apparently save water thing as it flushed if you were lucky. At 10:30PM a loud noise like static for 5-10 minutes which I figured was somebody taking a shower above us on 3rd floor. When we went to check out we were asked about the step stool and replied we used a box of our own. Obviously, we were going to be charged for a step stool that we would have to pick up. Wonder what that would have cost. We did enjoy watching the birds, otters, and boats. If we do this again next year we will stay at another hotel and work earlier to get a brunch in the Court room for Mother's Day. We live 60 miles away and thought we would skip driving down the same day as brunch--maybe we will just do that next year. read more

I can't speak for every room, however the one night I stayed there I was very impressed. The guest services staff are very polite and friendly. The room we got was on the water side. We had a full view of Kachemak Bay and the beautiful mountains. The room reminded me of a captains room on a boat. The photos on the walls and the furnishings were appropriate for the surroundings. The on site restaurant is 5 stars and absolutely DELICIOUS! I did not give 5 stars for the hotel due to the fact that there were areas of the hotel that smelled moldy, I assume due to the fact that there is a pool on premises. Other then that though, this is a fantastic hotel that I would definitely recommend to someone visiting the Homer area. read more

This place is paradise, maybe not so much for the accommodations (spacious room, standard hotel beds), but the views are beyond incredible, the staff are super nice, there's espresso on site, and just a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. This is a great place to stay. We go a lot in the off season. Great staff and beautiful scenery. The last time we stayed my son left a bag with some books an iPhone a Nintendo DS and games in it. They called to let us know they had it still and held onto it for 3mo before we had a chance to get back down to retrieve it. That's not the kind of thing you get at a lot of places. This review is for the room, not the restaurant. Used a Midship Bay Loft for two nights. The room was clean and the view was OK for the most part. The "private rooftop deck" was a bit of a letdown. It's a black tar roof which obscures all the beach view. You can see the water and mountains, but that's it when you look outward. The Lands End room pictures conveniently omit this view from their website and brochure. In this type of room, the upstairs bedroom is directly over the hallway and room doors. This causes you to hear the doors close and any loud talking in the hallway. The stairs in the room were 14 steps and a bit steep. This would be a problem for someone who has a disability or any trouble using stairs. The bathroom is downstairs so if you need to use the restroom in the middle of the night, be careful you don't fall. There was a small love seat downstairs which had two cigarette-type burns on them although smoking is not allowed. Another item of note is the "waiver of liability" you need to sign when you check-in. I was a bit leery to sign a statement saying the resort accepts no responsibility for any theft, break-in, or other missing property in the room. With those electronic keys, they can easily be cracked so I think it's a bit unfair to put the fault on the customer for a break-in. If there was a theft from the housekeeping staff, you're also on the hook. The resort accepts no responsibility for their staff's actions. They do offer a active duty military discount but you have to ask for it since it's not advertised. The wifi in the room worked well. The term resort makes this place seem luxurious but it's not. It's rather basic. The rooms are expensive so you are basically paying for the view. Overall it was a nice stay. Looking ahead, I plan to stay somewhere else the next time I visit. The view is nice but not worth the price of the room. read more

Where to start? First the price gouging. Depending on who you talk to (and who talks to them) they'll say different room prices just to get the most money they can out of you. They lost our reservation no less than three times, and each time they insisted it was our mistake until one person admitted they were dealing with an old computer system. Fine, but don't make it my problem. To call three times and wait on hold for hours is just ridiculous. The "pool" is actually like ten feet big and four feet deep--incredibly deceptive. None of the staff properly mask, and early check in for them means making us wait till 5pm. The rooms are tiny with few amenities. The toiletries in my room came half empty/used, which was a definite moment of ew, and the bathroom floor had a puddle that grew in it. If you have $300 a night to spend go stay at a night place not this dump. They don't deserve the waterfront spot for how crappily this hotel is run. read more

Stayed here 3 times. Each was good and one exceptional. We rented a beachfront 3 bed condo for a corporate event and enjoyed excellent service from booking to check out. Also used their catering service with no surprises and attentive wait staff. Superb views offered of whales, otters, seals and the local fishing scene and only 20 feet from the ocean. Bar service is good but the strong suit here are the views. Food is better in town but that's not a secret. Comfy beds, heated tile floors, and a front room fireplace make even a rainy days better. read more

I LOVED this resort. Located at the tip of a spit (small peninsula), the views from the rooms can't be matched. We visited in early July, and LOVED seeing the local families picnicking on the beach under the midnight sun. We were treated to views of Bald Eagles (from the Chart Room Restaurant's windows), Sea Otters from our balcony, and glaciers across the Kachemak Bay. Also took a ferry to the gull island seabird rookery and the Saltry Restaurant. Wonderful! Next time we visit, we'll spend our whole vacation here! read more

Land's End Resort is literally at the end of the Homer spit and it is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a two room suite with a king bed in one room and a queen and twin Murphy bed in the other room. Our initial room had an issue with the heater and the staff was incredibly helpful and transferred us to another room without issue. The best part about the room is the deck that looks out to the beach and water. We cannot wait to return in the summer when we have more sunlight to enjoy the views but it was absolutely beautiful. I actually woke up in the middle of the night to see a boat going out which was pretty neat. The hotel itself is clean and has all of the amenities needed for a getaway. There was also a refrigerator which is a nice feature! The room was very reasonably priced for an off season getaway. I will update my review when we return in the summer and get to enjoy a little more of what the resort has to offer! read more

This Review is only for the restaurant at this resort called "the Chart Room". I am not a "foodie" type, and am generally pleased no matter where I go, but tonight will go down in my history as the first time I have ever walked out of a restaurant. For the short time we were there, the staff was great. We were seated promptly, and our waitress was attentive. There was also a young man who refilled our water within 10 minutes of our being seated. Now for the food.... 1st they had no oysters or muscles... This is a fishing town people!!! Oysters are why my husband wanted to go there in the 1st place!! So after his initial disappointment, he decided on the coconut prawns. The food came very quickly, and in hind site, I think too quickly. The prawns were coated in a thick brown crispy coating that appeared too well done with a brown sauce that was not only poured in a dipping container, but poured around the entire circumference of the plate. My husband was not happy with the appearance of the plate, and was hesitant to even try the dish due to it being very unappealing. But, sometimes looks are deceiving, and he tried it. The prawns were burnt, didn't taste like shrimp, didn't taste like coconut, and the sauce was a mystery gruel. My starter was a sole with portobello mushroom. The fish was saturated with salt and was rancid. I took one bite. This is a seafood restaurant!! Rancid fish??? How does that even happen?? My drink was good, I ordered a Klondike kool aid. But sadly even that couldn't get the bad taste out of my mouth. The waitress was embarrassed. We were charged only for my drink and we left. I feel bad leaving such a horrid review, but wow!!! read more

We had a late lunch at the restaurant. Most of the tables have a beautiful unobstructed view of Kachemak Bay. I ordered a grilled Halibut sandwich. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. It came with a salad with a delicious chile dressing. The service was excellent however we were about the only group in the restaurant. They have a nice deck with amazing views of the bay and mountains. This is without a doubt the best location in Homer. I wish we could have tried it for dinner. I will definitely go back when I return to Homer. read more

Service was slow for lunch on a Sunday, and the restaurant was fairly empty. The only item on the menu that is wheat free is the burger without the bun and - breaded - fries. There are better burgers in town. I hear the clam chowder is still delicious. read more

Nice hotel, beautiful view but extremely unorganized staff. 200+ people checked in Thursday night for a hockey tournament, no manager on site and an employee that said he started 4 days ago. After a 5 hour drive we were told we only had a room for two out of the three nights (we had paid for 5 months ago)! we were pretty much out of luck because the hotel was full he said. Get to our room only to find there is a family of 4 already moved in there with all of their belongings.. Go to the front desk leaving my mother in law and 2 small children on the 3rd floor in the hallway for 1.5 HOURS (til 10:30pm) while they knocked on peoples doors to see who was in the wrong room. Finally after much confusion, 9 displaced unhappy people and a manager named Leah arguing with me on the phone another manager Mike drove over. Saturday was a Spaghetti feed (buffet) for 54 people.. That with no permission at all the hotel switched to a plated dinner. We were supposed to have marinara and meat to choose from, nope! You get what you get we were pretty much told. $15 per person EVEN the kids which were only supposed to be $5. Some people left hungry and went to restaurants. There was so much confusion that the stay became uncomfortable and really put a damper on a weekend that was supposed to be filled with carefree excitement. Mike was nice and tried to mend things however 2 drinks and a $4 discount off the $375 room charge almost seemed like a slap in the face. Nice place.. Unbelievably odd customer service. read more

Had a wonderful dinner with the in laws lSd week while in Homer. Waitress was great and gave us honest suggestions. We all ordered a fish dish and all were very pleased. The only thing that could use improving was my manhattan tasted weird. I watched the bar tender make a martini and not rinse the shaker when she made both of mine. Other than that this restaurant is the best thing going in Alaska or at least from Soldotna to Homer. read more

I would not recommend this hotel and will never stay here again. We live in Alaska and visited this hotel because a friend was getting married in the area. We made the reservations for one of their bungalows that was $300 a night. We were not told that check-in was at 4pm and check out was at 10am, I should have asked. We arrived at 2pm needing to get ready and were told the room was not available but we could use their fitness room to shower and get ready, this was nice but the area was not private. Once we arrived back at the hotel and checked in, there were dirty cleaning rags left in our room and we were on the 1st floor with very loud people above us, again something I should have asked. We parked next to our room and were woken up at 10pm (wehave 2 small children) at night because we were in the wrong spot, literally 1 car length away. Overall this stay was not worth the money at all. read more

Our first time to Alaska...And This Was Our Favorite Place! Our room was right on the edge of the Spit with a fabulous view. The restaurant had very good food and a wonderful view from the windows. The outside deck (from the restaurant) was my favorite place to sit... and watch... and relax.... People were fishing on the shore, and Huge fishing boats were passing by on the water. We saw so many different types of fish- it was crazy fun! We will never forget it! read more

Have stayed here twice and it's been nice. Rooms are clean and cute but a little small compared to most hotels (really didn't matter to us, but if you need a lot of space this might be a dealbreaker to some). The restaurant attached to it serves really good food as well and it open late for drinks if you don't want to walk all the way to the Salty Dawg. One downside that was annoying was check in isn't until 4pm. There's a chance you can check in early but 4 is the "guaranteed" time. Plan some activities if you arrived in Homer early. read more
