I wouldn't tell anybody to drive over 30 minutes and go out of their way to see it though. The airplanes and aircraft outside was definitely the coolest part.

There is an admission fee but, it's quite reasonable and well worth it. There is street and private parking in the back of the building. This is definitely a family friendly place to go to, rather it's raining or if you're looking for something to do if it's just an adult trip. We opted to do the scavenger hunt for a prize which I thought was fun and challenging. We had a guide at the beginning to give us history lessons on the museum and pretty much Destin itself. It's quite surprising what you can learn here and I'm thankful for our guide giving us a lesson, you will even learn how Destin gets it's white sand and so much more. We even got the little red flash lights for sea turtles that the city of Destin is giving away for free and spring time is nesting time for them. There is a small building off to the side where the old boats are and it's actually an old post office, very neat. Now the scavenger hunt did take time, however I found it to be fun and quite the learning experience. It consisted of finding hidden items in plain sight and so much more. Not gonna reveal what prize we got at the end. This was probably the most fun we had learning going to a museum. Our guide at the end recommended some tourist guides and places to eat and things to do in Destin. This little museum holds a lot of history and is definitely worth a stop. Very family friendly and affordable fun and learning. The staff and volunteers are the most amazing people. Will definitely be back next visit.

It was put on through the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation. I am visiting here from Arizona. The location was easy to find, easy parking, large stage for everyone to see, friendly staff working the ticket counter, food trucks available, clean restrooms, dancing, and just a great time!!

Each time we attended in the past, the bands were outstanding, very talented and full of energy. Last night was a huge disappointment and a total waste of $80. The Yacht Rock Schooner band was unbelievably bad, off key and out of tune. Most of the audience members were just as surprised as we were: were they really that bad, was the sound equipment not working, was this band formed yesterday? We have come to expect high quality entertainment from the MKAF, but now are not sure we will ever come back. We, along with many others, left at intermission. I do hope this is a one-off and not an indication of what to expect in the future from MKAF. Enthusiastic audiences and fellow patrons of the arts deserve better.

Both artists are originally from Orlando, but have now made the Emerald Coast their home. They used a hybrid of air brush and brush painting techniques. I love the whimsy of these flamingos splashing in the water which pools out onto the concrete! I wonder why the artists painted the background that looks like wallpaper rather than with trees? But then again, I think the trees would not fit to scale because the flamingoes are way larger than life! These are some gigantic birds!
