We made a brief pit stop here on our long car ride from Bend to San Francisco just to check out the inside. I was quite impressed with how well it was stocked! They had just about everything and an abundance of it too! I didn't explore Dorris, CA, but wow, the town of ~1000 can actually go through their weekly inventory. I loved how friendly and knowledgeable the girl at the register was. I love exploring small towns and getting insight from the locals. Dollar General really does have the remote areas of the market cornered.

A saving grace is one time a woman working produce ask me if I needed help while I was logging in to get a digital coupon for a pineapple. She put a sticker on it with the sale price so I could move one with my day. It can be that easy.

First thing first - refuel our gas tank. I used my sister's Fred Myer loyalty membership # to get a discount on gas. I think we saved three cents a gallon. The second time we didn't provide the number as it wasn't a big savings. In Oregon they have gas attendants to pump your gas. Years ago hubby got out of the car to pump gas and the attendant knew right away we were from California where we pump our own gas. Fred Myer is a like a Target, but on a larger scale. They sell clothes, garden supplies, household goods, food, bakery, deli etc. Their store layout is kind of weird. It's one floor. It looks more like an office building than a store at first glance. We saved $18 in groceries using my sister's Fred Myer loyalty membership #. The best edible was the Angel food cake found in the bakery department. I wished our local supermarket could replicate it.

Their home grown meats and ground beef are exceptional and full of flavor. The prices are totally reasonable. If you can't find something, they will order it for you and call you when it arrives. I love their chocolate pudding cakes! Their staff have been there for many years which says a lot. Sherm left a wonderful, amazing legacy!! I moved to Klamath Falls and was totally relieved to see that there is one here with the same great service and prices. Not too mention, a bench for a weary soul to sit on while waiting for a ride! They also have some specialty items I haven't been able to find other places, mainly different kinds of sauces, such as kecap manis (an Indonesian sweet soy sauce). I was overjoyed to find it here! Another main staple we get here that I have never seen anywhere else is their buckets of nutella. My husband goes through the stuff like water so I buy the big containers of it whenever I can, and at Cash & Carry they have the granddaddy bucket size of 6.5 lbs! This size lasts him quite a while, and I'm happy I don't have to buy 5 jars of nutella at a time! If you are curious, craving some different products, or love buying in bulk, then stop by Cash & Carry and see what they have on the shelves!
