Chad kept us informed every step of the way, from what work was being done, to the estimates completion date. When he showed up for the estimate, he gave us some options, took some measurements and we had a written estimate before he left. From approving the estimate to the materials showing up was only two weeks! The crew (Andy and Jack) showed up every day ready to work and did so tirelessly until the end of each day. They asked great questions to make sure nothing got damaged or misplaced, and the finished product was better that we had hoped! All scrap was removed and our yard was left in great condition. Our Two Story Garage was built in 2005--the dream was to have cedar shakes crown the top, 18 years later they just didn't work. George, salesman, from Lang came out and suggested a product we could agree upon. It was a small job, and we waited for an opening on their schedule. Lang did an amazing job on our house from start to finish- Hardie siding, soffits, fascia and oversized gutters. Chad was great and very knowledgeable- worked very hard to make our vision a reality. We had our hearts set on wood look aluminum soffits. He had never done it before but he found them and made our dream a reality. The installers were top notch- very hard working and detailed. Their faulty installation of something as basic as a downspout on my house caused flooding in my basement. Mr. Lang came out and blamed my house and me for his subpar work! He left my house that day and never got back to me displaying a complete lack of integrity. The workmanship guarantee on his contract means NOTHING! I filed a claim with his liability insurer, Auto Owners, and got resolution that way. Mr. Lang wouldn't accept responsibility, but his liability insurer, and the forensic engineer they sent to my house to investigate, saw the problem and I was compensated for the damages caused by his careless work. read more

First of all let me please alert you that there are 3 businesses called Lang in our IL. area. MAKE SURE YOU ARE DEALING WITH BILL LANG about this review. I can not speak for the others and in fact can see how the businesses could be easily confused as they all have the name Lang and Exteriors in the title. MY experience with BILL LANG for roofing is THIS review. Bill showed up ON TIME for our first appointment. This is very important to me as I have to make many appointments ON TIME on a day off. I appreciated that he respected my time. Second of all out of the 5 estimates I got he was the most organized. No one else answered his phone. Mostly what I experienced was returned calls ( if at all) 3 days to weeks later. Again, very important indication to me if I can trust this person for such an expensive endeavor. Bill gave me my estimate without minutes of our visit. It was typed out and complete. In days to come when I called he always had my paperwork available and answered my questions. Other roofers, mailed something weeks later, or hand wrote a messy difficult to follow estimate or even one was emailed 2 WEEKS later. The reason I called Bill in the first place was because of a recommendation from a business association of 20 years in Western Springs that I trust very much. In 2013 I would have given them a five star. However, because they couldn't match the shutters with the siding color, they painted the shutters with one coat. Bill said he would come back and give them another coat. Also asked him to order one more pair of shutters About a year later I called and asked if he still had the paint or at least the color name so I could have someone else do it. He said he would check and never got back to me. He said he forgot about the ordering the other shutters. Left another messages out the paint No response. This year I called and told him some soffit was hanging down. He did come out and nail it up. Around June I called to tell him another part was hanging down. He said he would get there sometime that week. It's September. Haven't seen him. Lang is awesome for installing but their follow up customer service is very disappointing. My less than 3 months old, $15,000 roof started leaking and they refused to take responsibility. The owner found all sorts of things to blame, none of which turned out to be true. Due to time constraints and prior obligations I was forced to contract out this small job which consisted of siding two small dormers including new gutters. September of last year Bill from Lang Home came to my home discussed a proposal, wrote me up a quote, and we scheduled a date for the renovation. Two days prior to the job starting I had reached out for an update since I hadn't heard anything from the company. Bill called back stating that since I had selected a "custom" siding, production was on back order and the project would probably get pushed back 6 weeks. When discussing the proposal I stated to him I was looking for the work to be done during this time frame and he replied "no problem." During the selection process it was never mentioned nor stated in the brochure that I was selecting custom material. If this was in fact true, I understand that this is uncontrollable especially since COVID-19 hit. Or maybe they just didn't want to bother with a small project. However my frustration was due to the lack of communication and professional courtesy that continued throughout the process. I had specifically scheduled for new siding during that week because I was gutting the interior and installing new windows at the same time. Obviously this didn't work out according to plan. If I hadn't reached out to Bill I wonder if I would have even been contacted. This was the last time I was able to get ahold of Bill. At the six week mark I had to take it upon myself to re-contact the company and they had no answers for me. I spoke to the office staff multiple times afterwards explaining my situation and they kept stating they would have Bill contact me which never happened. The office staff claimed to be understanding however never offered an alternative solution. What kind of company can survive on false promises? 8 months later in April I contacted Lang Home Exteriors to cancel the job and to make sure I wasn't held to a binding contract. If it was this much of a headache trying to get ahold of them prior to work being started I wasn't willing to gamble with the quality of their work. Luckily they did not require a deposit prior to work being started. Lang did my siding gutters and soffits. My gutters leak they didnt seal flashing properly. I they didnt seal along roof. I now have a leak. Dustin came out with spray rubber instead of fixing correctly. They also didnt do drip guard properly. I would recommend if dustins the guy. He is on high horse and says ive been doing roofing 15yrs. Thinks hes smarter then his customers. Im a retired SEABEE. can of rubber spray wont fix issue since gutters werent propetly caulked they leak. Anyone in construction can tell you water always takes least path of resistance. Flashing done wrong gutters done wrong drip edge done wrong gutters and facia not sealed properly. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that I had some joint leak problems and I had to call 3 times to get someone to come out and repair. Do not use Lang for roof replacement. They do not give you an accurate estimate and quote roof replacement for only a portion of the roof I understood that I was paying for replacement of the entire roof. They neglected to tell us that they were excluding the turret area. Now I must pay $1,000 to get this area replaced. Bad business practice. read more
