While the pricing is great, I wanted to compare both the rate and the coverage. I emailed 5 different insurance companies and 4 of them immediately said "we'll get you the same policy for the same money" but only ONE came back to me and said you are not being covered properly and there's conflicting info in the underwriting language. That firm was none other than Coastal Insurance (see attached email). While their policy came back to be $200 more, but their policy also offers substantially more coverage. I would've rather pay the extra money than to leave myself exposed to a potential loss and claim denial b/c I didn't read the fine print. In a society where speed and cheap trumps service and common sense, it's refreshing to see a company that is thorough and didn't "sell me on price and price alone." Just an FYI, they also have an affiliate that provide tax grievance service and have saved me thousands of dollars with my commercial and residential properties.

I stated again my insurance policy renews on 04/06/2026 and they said it would not be a problem that they were working on it. It is now 04/07/2026 and this insurance company has not called me back at all. They were more than happy to take all my personal information, such as my social security number, date of birth, and other sensitive information yet never even provided me with a quote. If there was not a lot of positive reviews for this company, I would be concerned I was scammed out of my personal information, but then again those reviews could be fake as I have had a less than optimal experience.

That was until a friend recommended Mike at Malpigli & Associates. He spent at least half an hour on the phone with me explaining all of my coverage and what each was meant to cover. He showed me that high deductibles are not always the best value and showed me where my coverage could use some improvement and where what I had was good. It became clear pretty quickly that if you only spend 15 minutes on your insurance you are probably missing something important. He took all of my information, explained how the companies underwrite and what they all look for. He promised to get back to me in an hour or two and he called me back in half an hour with rates from three companies that were less than what I was paying with lower deductibles and higher coverage. He recommended a company I had never heard of but came to realize is a great company. (Utica National) He saved me $848 over Geico lowered my deductibles and tripled my coverage. He also gave me rates for Travelers, Hartford and Progressive but Utica was the best for me. He said he would "squish the lizard" and boy did he! Hell, they even know the policies of your crazy old man who needs a little help in remembering that you have to pay for insurance before it lapses. Anyway, the gang here absolutely rule. Family owned and operated, and they truly treat you just like one of their own.
